wonderful location.Rooms vary, book the best you can afford. Food adequate, restaurante staff very helpful, especially Francisco who should be appreciated for the jewel he is.He is hardworking, polite and good natured. Remember you are paying for 3 star not 4 and this is very good value.Views heart stopping and nice flat walk into Palma central. Bus stop to everywhere across the road and couple of super tapas bars by the harbour.

Great Place to stay in Palma

My wife and I stayed in this hotel from the 16th to 21st September 2010, on a half board basis.
The room was spotless, quite large with twin beds, air-con, two armchairs, his and hers large wardrobes (with safety deposit box built in) and a small fridge. We also had a brilliant view of the port. Cupboard space was more than adequate for a two week stay.
The bathroom had a bidet, W/C, washbasin and overbath shower. Towels were changed every day and our bed sheets were changed at least twice in 5 days.
The hotel staff were all friendly and helpfull. English is spoken by all the front line staff.
The restaurant catered for all tastes and the food was excellent, whether it was breakfast or evening meal.
However, the British really did let the side down by their mealtime shoving and pushing to get to the food. I have never seen, what I can only describe as a bunch of gannets, at most meal times. Fortunately, if you pick yout time, you can avoid the main scrum and eat in relative peace. I emphasize that this is not a critism of the hotel but more an observation.
All in all, a great place to stay. Very convenient for Palma town and the Cathedral. There are bus stops to Palmanova, the aeroport and varias other places to visit, very near to the hotel.
We will certainly stay here again

First found those hotel in 1990 with Thomsons and loved it from the word go. Its friendly, its clean, its got wonderful large rooms with the most magnificent views over the bay. We've went on a regular basis over the last 18 years booking direct with the hotel and never been disappointed with our welcome from a great staff which has changed very little over the years. We've seen the hotel upgraded and improved year on year until it would now match higher graded hotels. My only minor point is that the sunbeds at the pool are needing replaced (at least they were in June). Yes the road is noisy but if you've chosen to go there then you've chosen to stay in a city and that means noise. But the location in Palma more than makes up for any minor faults. I absolutely love the Costa Azul.

We have been staying at Costa Azul...

We have been staying at Costa Azul for 7 years. We have met some lovely people in the time spent there, like us returning guests. The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. It is used by young and old alike. We have met retired people and well behaved stag and hen parties too. We always have a sea view room as we like to watch the liners and other boats coming and in and out of the Port. It is an excellent place to stay for direct access into Palma City - ten minutes walk to the Cathedral and Shops. If you visit Majorca, don't forget Palma City. Lots to see, Cathedral magnificent. Shops are excellent. Lots of super places to have coffee, tapas and lovely restaurants to eat at in the evening. We have been returning to La Paloma in the old town time and time again. Lovely food and excellent staff and service. We always find something different every time we visit Palma. We always look forward to visiting the Costa Azul Hotel, we settle in straight away and start enjoying our holiday as soon as we drop our cases by reception!

My partner and I have stayed a number of times at the Costa Azul and can honestly say we cannot fault it.
Most of the staff have been there for the 10 years we have been visiting which I think goes to show what a good employer the owners are.
It is ideally located for Palma town centre and the bus stop to get to and from the airport is about 40 metres away. Also if you you wish to visit other resorts the same bus stop can get you a bus to nearly any where.
The view from the rooms is one that I always look forward to seeing.
Try this hotel it is well worth the time to visit with good resturants and the theatre close by and a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere with very welcoming staff.
I am looking forward to my next visit which will be in January 2009 for the festival of the kings on the 6th.

We have stayed at this hotel several times. It is in an ideal location for visiting Palma. We have had short breaks, and two week holidays at Costa Azul and always feel very much at home. Most of the staff have been working at the hotel for many years, some retiring now after 20/30+ years. The rooms are basic, nothing luxurious, but everything excellent value for money. The very negative review on this site, was from someone who had not done any research before setting off. Yes it is on the main coast road, but that to us is all part of the attraction. I am a poor sleeper, and once the windows are closed there is very little noise, so never had a problem. The view is wonderful, in fact the cruise liners sail into the harbour, and advise the passengers that its time to take photos. If you happen to see a ship sailing in just before light it is an amazing scene - as you will see hundreds of flashing lights coming from the side of the ship!!! Just go and see for yourself.
PS I'm Mrs Bucket's sister!!

This is the second time we have visited this hotel and we have not been disappointed. The hotel is lovely, well presented on Palma Harbour. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into Palma town.
The staff are very friendly and the food was what you would expect when you go abroad with a selection of hot and cold choices. We had a fantastic time and will go there again.
Would recommend to anyone including people with a family (we took our 7 month old daughter).

We have just returned from a short break and hope to go again during the winter months. Great value, amazing views.
Yes it can be noisy with the doors open being so near the main road, but you do have the No 1 bus (every 15 mins until very late) that stops outside the hotel to go into Palma and the airport.
Going the other way e.g. Palma Nova, Costa Ponsa (and Magaluf) and from the airport the bus stops 100 yards away. The open top tourist bus has a stop 200 yds away.
We didn't think the meals were great but you are surrounded by restaurants and bars (not the very noisy sort) and who wants to eat at the same place every night.
As most people are there for just a few days the sun terrace doesn't get too crowded - we saw no reserved sun beds even though the weather was glorious.
Handy hint - go to the new museum (Es Baluard) just down the road for a great low cost meal with super views, it is open until 11pm during the summer.

Our 3 night stay at the Costa Azul...
7 / 10
Nov 2006, Mrs Mj Jones

Our 3 night stay at the Costa Azul was just what the doctor ordered. A pleasant hotel which was very popular with a range of ages though predominantly 55+. The facilities were fine and a sea facing room on a higher floor is to be recommended. The size of the room was quite large and well decorated.
The weather was even hot enough to sun bathe around the hotel pool, small though it was.
One of the drawbacks is that the road immediately outside - the Paseo Maritime- is very busy at all times of day and night. It can be noisy but we did acquire immunity to it after a day or so.

Stumbled onto this website when...

Stumbled onto this website when looking to book another few days at the Costa Azul for half term and having read the other review I felt compelled to add my experiences of this hotel so that anyone else looking at this website does not miss out on the enjoyment this hotel has afforded me several times over the last 7 or 8 years.
My wife and I have had several 2 or 3 night stays at the Costa Azul over the last few years and have never left with thoughts other than looking forward to the next short break. The bedrooms we have stayed in have always been roomy, clean, quiet and cooled by the air conditioning - more than equal to some 4 star hotels we have stayed in. The views over Palma Bay are magnificent and many a time I have sat on our balcony in the early hours of the morning watching the cruise liners slip quietly out to sea, not wanting to miss any moments of the experience, but eventually given in to sleep - ah! Happy memories.
The breakfast room, the bar, the reception area are all impressive and I agree, the staff there are excellent and very helpful. For what we paid (booking direct with hotel) I was more than satisfied every time. P.s. my wife has quite high standards (known as Mrs Bucket to our friends) and loves this hotel!

Just returned from a 2 week holiday...
1 / 10
Aug 2006, Buckley

Just returned from a 2 week holiday at this hotel. To be frank it is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Cleanliness of this hotel needs reviewing. Rooms dusty and mucky
Hotel placed next to Palmas main costal road (6 lanes of traffic) busy morning noon and night. The noise is dreadful if the window is open. The closed window units do block some of the sound, but still quite noisy. If this is not enough the air conditioning unit was louder than the traffic, it was so old and useless I could get more of a breeze from my hair dryer.
The hotel rooms are in dire need of some updating and money spending on them. For the price we paid it was not good value for money. Radio was broken, furniture chipped and balcony rusty. The foyer was lovely obvious money had been spent on this.
The staff there are excellent and very helpful i could not fault them at all.
The view sold it to us at the beginning. Please be warned the noise and pollution is enough to put you off.
