:)
i loved the hotel. the food and service was really great. if i had to choose a hotel in istanbul, i would choose sude konak!:) the hotel room that we lived in was just the right size and the cleaning was great too! i would love to come back!:)
One of my best trips ever!
I went with my class from Norway on a studytrip to Istanbul to learn bellydance. We stayed at the Sude Konak hotel. Because we had a lot of activites everyday in Istanbul, we loved coming back to the hotel and relax. The hotel is small and cosy, which I really like, and I felt safe being there. The atmosphere was warm and peaceful, and there was a lot of places to sit and relax without being interrupted. Our rooms were cleaned every day, and overall the hotel was neat and tidy. The hotel has a terrasse on the roof with a great view over the city and the Bosphorus River, where it's possible to relax and eat at summer times. The staff is really nice and gives you great service. The food was really good too! The hotel has a great location in the old town with walking distances to several historical sights such as the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi palace. There's also great opportunities for shopping with the streets around, but make sure to visit the Spice Bazaar and the Grand Bazaar which is located nearby. The trip to Istanbul is one of the best trips I've been on, and the Sude Konak hotel was an important part of this great experience!
could have been much better
ıt was good but for four star we expected a bıt better: the staff very polıte and the servıce good. you can ımprove by havıng a bottle of water free in room or tea and coffee in rooms. the rooms are very small and no table or bench to put the suıtcase. over all we enjoyed stayıng ın this hotel. very close to center of everythıng. after stayıng a few days the breakfast gets very very borıng. can have a bit more vrıaty like fry eggs and a few dıfferent kınd of bread and cakes. the fruıt at breakfast was very old . thanks for makıng our holıday enjoyable.
great hotel
Hotel is at a prefect location. Breakfast is very good! Hotel is clean! This on all around great hotel at a great price.Only advice I can say is ask the price at the hotel bar before getting a drink because they are outrageous!
Nice hotel!!
I stayed 4nights with my parents. We really liked this hotel. Our rooms are new, very clean ,large enough and have bathtub! The location is perfect! maybe the best location. It was good especialy for my old aged parents. There are many same grade hotels near the hotel but I do recommend this modern&classic hotel. I am sure that we will stay this hotel next time we visit istanbul.
Good location, resonable rates
A most imprtant fact, if you travel to istanbul is transportation. Public transport is not very good in Istanbul if your Trurkish is not good enough for understanding the bus system there. So there is only the metro and the so called light metro. The light metro (tram) is a single line, connecting both sides of the golden horn. The Sude Konak happens to be located next to a light metro station and the train station (good for going to airport). It is next to the Topkapi, Sultanahmed mosque and the hagia sophia. Even the Galta Tower is within walking distance. So, there is no better location than the Sude Konak or one of its surrounding hotels. Rooms are small, which is quite normal for Istanbul hotels. Staff is very friendly and helps a lot. I have to mention Turkut, who helped me with my bookings and reservations. Breakfast buffet is very nice with lots or regional specialities (chekc out the rose marmelade). Hotel is very clean an has a modern esprit. From the roof terrace you have a good view over all important sights. But most of all, it has a very reasonable price. I paid 45€ p.n. for a double.
Nice hotel
great hotel!! nice small rooms with good a.c good showers. The breakfast wasn't too bad. Very homely. sexy staff LOL. The staff were very understanding and most of them understand english. Room service was good and super veiws of the sultan ahmet mosque from thr roof terrace. The lobby was nice and clean with comfy sofas and a nice little bar. Good lifts. Overall it was a great place to stay.
Not worth the money
I was paying a single supplement as part of a tour, & this might have been why the management of this hotel put me in one of the back rooms which you can see in the Berlin Boys' review. (I do hate the way single travellers are discriminated against - paying extra for everything and then getting lousy rooms). No window, miserable bathroom & very depressing. Every floor has a couple of these rooms with a tiny window looking at the lift shaft. As I was staying 4 nights I asked to be moved. The reply was that the hotel was full & it couldn't be done. So I went & booked into another hotel round the corner, at the same time telling the tour agent in Istanbul what I had done. He was very cross & spoke to the Sude Konak himself. Within 10 minutes I had a room with a balcony facing the street - noisy at times but better than no window at all. If you get a room facing the street the hotel is not too bad. The breakfast takes a bit of finding but once you realise it is on the mezzonine floor & not the roof garden as advertised, it is not at all bad, the usual Turkish things. The staff are lovely and generally quite obliging. I got quite fond of them after the bad start. Unfortunately the person who speaks English is never at the desk till after 8 a.m., not good if you have an early morning query. My Turkish phrase-book was not up to the sort of things I wanted to ask. The position is really convenient. The view from the roof is good & the restaurant attached to the hotel & spilling onto the footpath is average, if you can find somebody to serve you. It was quite a long process getting dinner. There is also a computer available for guest use, with Internet connection which sometimes works, but once again this was quite hard to find.
A Nightmare of a Hotel
We are a group of people (10 couples) and had a confirmed reservation for 10 double rooms by HRS.com. The day of our arrival we checked again our reservation directly with the hotel and got the answer, that everything is fine and that they are looking forward to seeing us. So far so good. Upon our arrival at 4.am at night, we were told that they only have 5 triple rooms and 3 double rooms left. 8 rooms for 20 people is a joke. After a long diskussion in the middle of the night the receptionist arranged 2 double rooms at another hotel for 4 of us. (Upon arrival the poor fellows were shocked, because the hotel turned out to be dirty and run down, they didn't even dare to take a shower - the hotel was not even worth 1 star! But they had to pay the same rate as at Sude Konak. The next day only 2 were put to Sude Konak (the hotel was still fully booked), 2 again to another hotel, which at least was better than the first.) At least 16 of us could have from the beginning of our trip a double room at Sude Konak. The Hotel: 5 floors, 8 rooms on each floor: 4 facing the street, 3 facing the backside, 1 facing the side street. The rooms: First the good things: they are clean, bathrooms are quite new and clean as well. The bad things: the rooms are on the small side, maybe 1 metre of space around the bed. We had to put our travel bags in the cupboard and on the little desk. The hotel is quick of hearing, it means the walls are paperthin,so you could hear everything from your neighbours room, from the aisles, from the stairs. The first wake-up call in the morning in any of the rooms at your floor wakes you up; you only could think of sleeping when the last person on your floor went to bed. Rooms facing the street are loud because of cars passing the cobblestone street. It's not a lot of traffic, but each car makes quite some noise. In rooms close to the elevator, you got the feeling that the elevator is passing through your room. Rooms facing the backside are dark or don't have a view or are facing a light-shaft. The best rooms are the rooms facing the side street at the end of each aisle. So it's a kind of a "roulette" game if you'll be happy. But the most important thing of all: THINK OF BRINGING EAR PLUGS WITH YOU!!! The staff: Staff at the breakfast buffet is just "decoration", no service orientation at all! You have to ask them to bring you a cup, a bowl for breakfast, a knife, a spoon, to fill up things at the buffet. Don't even think that they will take things away from your table. Some of the receptionists are friendly, others aren’t, so nothing special about the friendliness of the Hotel Sude Konak. If you take a look at their website, you got the impression to stay at a very good “hip” hotel, unfortunately the reality is very different. It’s not the judgement of only one person, but of 14 people of our group. (2 had a room facing the side street …). Never again Sude Konak Hotel. By the way, the roof top restaurant wasn’t open at the end of April, at the neighbour hotel it was open ... .
Good value
Very nice clean hotel. The staff are very helpfull. The rooms are a bit small but they are en-suit and they suffice. Nice bar and a rooftop restaraunt with great views that does a 3 coarse meal for about £3.00 (you cuold go the full hog and have a 7 coarse meal for about £5.00......) The double room, with balcony, was £22 per night including breakfast. Great value for an hotel that is 10mins. walk to the Blue Mosque. .
