Very good value
I stayed here for a total of 4 nights on my recent trip to Istanbul in May of 2007 and was very impressed. My single room was 35 Euros, including breakfast, and there is an optional additional 10% cash discount. On the first leg of my trip, I stayed in the Troy room, which is on the ground floor. Very spacious for a single with an enclosed shower, hair dryer, etc. and very clean. My last night was in the Hittite room on the 2nd (American 3rd) floor. This was even bigger than the Troy. In addition, I never had any problems with noise from... more
a great choice
We stayed six nights at the Hanedan Hotel. This small hotel has 10 attractive small rooms, but as long as you are not travelling with large suitcases, the space is adequate. The bathrooms are large in comparison. The staff were always helpful. Breakfast is Included in the room rate and is served buffet style in a glass enclosed room on the roof, or on the terrace outside in summer. The views from here are spectacular and include the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Sea of Mamara. The location is perfect. It is a five minute walk... more
Nestled Among the Great Monuments
Location, location, location! The hotel is located in Sultanahmet and is nestled between the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Saray (Palace). You could not find a better location to expreience the wonders of old Istanbul. The Grand Bazaar and Taksim Square are very close and within walking distance (if you like to walk). Hanedan has all the amenties including a roof top terrace that has an amazing view of the Sea of Marmara (a must see early in the morning as the mist rolls in). Breakfast on the terrace is not to be missed, especially... more
Functional, with a few downsides
The hotel is clean, nicely decorated, without being fancy. People working at the hotel have always been friendly and helpful, in particular Sulima, who we first met at the reception th day we checked in. On the downside: 1) The piping system could be improved to avoid the sometimes unpleasant smell in the bathroom. 2) The room we had was facing a local bar and it was pretty noisy at night, so you might want to inquire about the availability of more quiet rooms if you decide to make a reservation here. 3) Our room had no... more
Great budget Hotel
When we first arrived we stayed here for two nights. I was a little disappointed in that the room was quite small and didn’t match the photos on their website. However I had asked for a room with a view which we did get, of the beautiful Bosphorous. Maybe these rooms were the only ones with views. After touring Turkey we returned to the hotel for a 5 night stay. We were advised that we could have the Ottoman Suite for one night but we would then have to move to another room. I expressed annoyance at this given the fact that they had... more
not bad at all!
Not sure how to rate this hotel that we found on Lonely Planet! The room we had was charming- and the staff was excellent. They gave us a triple and billed us only for the double we'd booked-so we were happy for the space. The only problem was the bathroom! The shower didn't work properly- we had a bare trickle- and the shower stall kept coming unhinged when we tried to close the sliding door- and they weren't able to fix either on the Sunday we were there. They promised they're renovating their bathrooms this winter and I'd return if... more
Noisy room facing bar that pumped loud music well into the small hours!
Hanedan Hotel is in a great location, a wonderful roof terrace for breakfast and with rooms tastefully furnished. We were disappointed to find that our room faced onto what we think is another hotel and with a bar space at the top that pumped loud irritating music well into the night. When we went downstairs to complain, and found another couple of guests who were occupying the room directly above us also complaining, the staff member seemed defensive but said he would talk to the hotel. The same problem arose on our second night,... more
Great Hotel,
I stayed in this hotel for two nights, and it was perfect. The staff is friendly, the rooms are nice (nothing fancy though), the location is excellent (less than 5 minutes walk to Haghia Sophia), the breakfasts were delicious, and the cost was quite reasonable. I highly recommend it.
Affectionate memories of the Hanedan
Very friendly and helpful service here, great breakfasts on the balcony overlooking the Sea of Marmara. Very well located for exploring on foot the old areas in and around Sultanahmet. The only drawbacks for my companion and me were that our room had no storage facilities to speak of for clothes etc, and no hangers let alone a wardrobe. It was up two flights of stairs but the hotel staff were very willing to carry our luggage for us. We'd use it again.
Great Location, clean and comfortable...
From the perfect location to the spacious comfort of the rooms, this hotel would be hard to beat. It is just blocks away from the Blue Mosque, Dolmabache Palace, and Ayasofya. Waking up to a nice and simple breakfast on the rooftop deck is a wonderful addition to the stay at the Hanedan The owners, Suleyman and Hussein were very helpful and freindly. The worst thing about the place was leaving.
