Pera Rose Hotel

This is a nice, smaller hotel with some 40 rooms (estimated), centrally located just off İstiklal Caddesi, close to the British consulate-general and about eight minutes walking distance to Taksim square. My room was normally sized and had a double bed plus one single bed, a small desk, TV and locker. The bathroom had a shower but no bathtub. This lovely boutique hotel was a great home base for my second Istanbul Holiday. The staff is always professional and often quite friendly. Mr. Erol CELÝK is a gracious host. Sure, my room was small with a large double window which opened up on an air shaft. But the handsome rose paterned drape, which ran the entire eight floors, was neat on an overcast morning. I've been to Istanbul several times and have tried different hotels each time. I prefer the Taxsim side for hotels and the Pera Rose sounded nice from the review here. The hotel reception looked pretty and inviting but the reception staff were really miserable. After extensive internet research, we opted to stay at the Pera Rose for our recent 5-day stay in Istanbul. We booked directly with the Hotel via their website which was a smooth and efficient process without any hassles. Turns out that the research paid off! LOCATION: Great! On a quiet street 2 blocks from the main shopping street in the modern city. BED/SHEETS/PILLOW: Bed was very comfortable (softer than most in Turkey). My wife and I stayed here for two nights at the end of out visit to Turkey. Previously we had stayed at Angel's Home in Sultanamet. Our room at Pera cost about the same as at Angel's Home but was far superior - much bigger with a luggage rack, plenty of floor space, and a good sized bathroom. I stayed at Pera Rose hotel for 5 nights in May-June 2007. I paid 100 USD a night off their website. The hotel was clean, modern and met our needs. The desk clerks were all friendly and helpful and had good english. The breakfast had a variety of turkish items and some hot food. The location is close to taskim square and near shopping and the nightlife, but a bit far to walk to the blue mosque and topkapi palace, and a fair walk to public transit. I arrived at the hotel and the reception staff were friendly, the hotel looked well maintained and very clean. I was waiting for the arrival of my Fiancée and was showed to the room by one of the staff who's English was broken but workable. I had read reviews here before booking the hotel. Having seen this hotel on agency sites, I wanted more information so e-mailed the hotel directly. There was an immediate response with all my questions answered satisfactorily. I chose to pay a small amount extra for a room with a view and took up the option of having transport arranged from airport to hotel. We stayed for a week and were very happy with all the arrangements.
