Olimpiyat Hotel

we reserved this hotel through alitalia web site, together with our flight ticket, we spent here 4 days at new years'eve. The location is absolutely great, very close to the tram stop, in a walking distance to the blue mosque, the main attractions, the train station and galata bridge. The staff in the hote is very nice and friendly. They speak english, spanish and other languages very well and they are very helpfull when you need something. The room was clean and comfortable, also the bathroom. Me and my boyfriend enjoyed very much the breakfast(included) which was quite good. They even cooked eggs when my boyfriend asked, although eggs weren't in the menu that morning...The hotel is very close to the topkapy, aya sofia, and blue moske.

I book this hotel thrue net, and I didnt know what to expect, especcially because it was my first time to visit Turkey. But hotel suprise me, it is in great position. I came from airport with bus and tram and this hotel was very easy to find. It is 5 min by foot from great Aya Sofia and Topkapi pallace, but at the same time its located in peacufull street where cars are not driving. My stay at Olimpiyat was very good. It was easy to find, traveling from the airport by Metro and tramway. The booking via HRS worked fine and the room was clean. Good bathroom, wireless LAN (Free), TV and AC. The room 508 faced the road with the tramway (no cars allowed), so it was quiet. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was good (Turkish). The hotel books reliable and fair taxi drivers. The old town from Istanbul can be discovered by foot. Price per night single room 35 € incl. breakfast.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 days and it was a higher standard than a lot of European hotels. My room on the sixth floor had a great view of Haggia Sophia (which looks great lit up at night time) and you could also make out the Blue Mosque and Topkaki palace. The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom decent (no toiletries) and a lot bigger than the room my friends were in on the same floor. Me and my other half stayed there 4 a few nights on B&B basis.It's situated right in the heart of the historic part of Istanbul so it's a perfecr base 4 sightseeing as all major sights , including the blue mosque adn the grand baazaar are within walkin distance.the room was quite small, but clean and in a good state.we only had breakfast in the hotel and that was horrible.not only there was not much choice, but the set all the tables u sit down and eat,but once u leave the table the just changed the coffee cups and that was it!!! the just... more

We book this hotel from the internet after we read the reviews in tripadvisor. Our first time in Istanbul was made much easier by Hotel Olimpiyat driver picking us up from the airport. Arrival at the hotel was smooth and efficient. The staff were very helpful and friendly, spoke excellent English and there was always someone around when you needed them. Hotel taxi picked us up from Kurtkoy ( Sabiha Gokcen ) Airport which is approximately 50 kilometers away. (50 euros for both of us) I believe they will pick you up from the nearer Ataturk airport free of charge if you stay for 3 nights or more. (There is also a shuttle bus for 15 europs to Kurtkoy ( Sabiha Gokcen ) airport.) The hotel is situated in the old city, within easy walking distance of many attractions and the ferry port. For a 3-star hotel this was really excellent. The room was clean and well serviced, although the bathroom was a little basic. The staff were helpful and courteous. The breakfast was excellent and there was plenty of it. The location is however the best thing - less than 10 minutes walk to Sultanahmet, Aya Sofia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. Maybe 15 minutes walk to the Spice Bazaar, and 20 minutes to the Grand Bazaar. We would happily stay there again and would recommend it as good value.

I spent a week in Istanbul at the Olimpiyat Hotel, historic area, in the middle of March, 2005. As a single traveller(in my 60's), the hotel put me a very small room: double bed, a nite stand, tv, and chifferobe. Hardly anywhere to put your suitcase and souviners. The bathroom was small, the shower was almost unusable- It was about 1 foot square! If I travelled with another person, I wonder if we would be given a better room. The breakfast, included in the price, was just adequate, and was the same for 5 mornings. Hotel staff barely talked... more
