" Good quality hotel with nice size... "

Good quality hotel with nice size bedrooms and quite luxurious bathrooms. Our room overlooked the pool area and the balcony was also a good size. It should be noted that this hotel basically caters for the Germans and C'an Picafort is mostly a German resort. When we booked in at reception, we were greeted in German. When I told the receptionist I was English, he replied do you live in Germany or England!

No daytime entertainment for my son so he got a bit bored with just the swimming pool all day on his own. There is crazy golf and table tennis which are both free, although the golf course is a bit overgrown and rundown.

Evening entertainment was basic and with only 12 tables in front of the tiny stage area, the entertainment is over before it really starts. We watched the magic show from our balcony and we felt sorry for the magician as he struggled to get any audience participation as no one wanted to go on the stage with him. Bingo was in Spanish and German, so we couldn't have a go. I think most of the other guests went down towards the sea front on an evening to the many bars along the promenade.

Food in the hotel was ok. There was a good variety of food from salads, hot food and desserts to choose from. We were told that we would keep our table for the duration of our stay but this actually only happened on one day. On all the other days, we were moved to other tables as there were other guests at our table.

All in all a good value for money hotel. It suited us as it was just round the corner from where my son lives, so as Kirsty and Phil say its location, location location!!

" We went to this hotel a bit wary... "

We went to this hotel a bit wary after reading comments from UK guests.

We were so happy to find that the comments about the food and frosty german receptions were totally unfounded. My partner, daughter and I spent two wonderful weeks there and we met a lot of very nice people from Germany. Our 4 year old daughter was pampered by the other guests and staff at the hotel.

The food was excellent, with at least four different options each night. It is only fair to say that it isn't British junk food, ie pizza, burgers etc. I suggest you look for a hotel in Blackpool if that is your culinary choice.

The amenities are good, the staff are very friendly and speak a wide variety of languages. There were always sunloungers by the pool, with only the British getting up at the crack of dawn to stake a claim!

The entertainment could be better but that is a question of taste.

The only problem as regards to noise etc was the elderly english lady who by our misfortune was in the room next to us. I did have to complain about her as she seemed to sleep all day and watch tv all night? Perhaps she was allergic to the sun????

This is an international hotel in a mediterranean island so do not expect everybody to be British! Simply enjoy.

" It was a lovely hotel, and the... "

It was a lovely hotel, and the facilities were very good.

Two problems, they were no other English people staying there, the closest we got were Americans, and also the food was often cold.

The only reason that the Germans were a problem was because we would eat food that we normally ate at home; only when we went to sit down they gave us evil looks!

The one night, I, my wife and my daughter were in our room talking at about 9pm, when the woman from the room next door came and had a go at us for being "so loud, so late".

Let’s just say we won't be returning!

NOT because of the hotel [which was great] but because of the people stopping there.

" This hotel was very German we were... "

This hotel was very German we were the only English there the whole 2 weeks but really that did not bother us as we met English down at the bars.
The rooms are cleaned every day and were lovely.

The food was a bit German based but we managed to eat something most days please not we are quite picky but still I thought some food was far to German. Hotel staff very nice and pool is gorgeous sun loungers were not a problem no space at around 12 but anytime b4 then or after was fine.

Entertainment was very bad hardly existent but that was not a problem as we would rather go to the bars.
Overall this hotel is good.

Can Picafort is really great me and my partner loved it and will be back 2006 not to same hotel as trying different, hotel is actually 5 mins most to beach bars and clubs,
U must go to Charley’s bar and pub no1.

" The Grupotel Monte Carlo was... "

The Grupotel Monte Carlo was spotlessly clean and there was really nothing to fault. The hotel is situated near a main road so you could sometimes hear traffic whilst by the pool but it wasn’t a major hardship.

Four of us went on this holiday (all twenty-something’s) and we found there was a good mix of people and ages at this resort. The evening entertainment was a little quiet but it started to liven up just before we left because it was getting more into the season (we went early July to avoid kids).

The hotel was about a 5/10 min walk from the beach, down a very gentle hill. There were loads of souvenir shops and supermarkets. The beach was lovely, not too overcrowded and the sea was perfect, especially for children as it was not rough and didn’t get deep until a very very long way out.

The food in the hotel was mostly aimed at Germans but there was always something to have as long as you’re not fussy. The food was always fresh and hot.
