the pool area was well kept and clean and they have a lifeguard ther as well
rooms were very basic and did not have a fridge and two single beds but it was nice to wake up and sit on the balcony and here the birds at dawn chorus so take your own kettle and hairdrier

When we arrived, reception told us...
2 / 10
Jan 2008, Mr P Smith

When we arrived, reception told us that there was no room for us (good start), after about an hour we were given our room, after a lot of hassle.
Went into get some food as we read snacks were available till 12, well that’s a joke, its cold chips and anything else left over from dinner - that’s dinner not tea.
Town was dead at this time of year but we was very lucky on the weather. Cala Blanca is a nice resort so long as you don’t want to do nothing and I mean nothing.
The beach is 10/10, shame that Cala Blanca hotel is so close it really was that good. I still have the photos of about 1000 ants over the fruit stand in the dining area and all outside the dining area, really 1000s.
One more thing, never been able to drink so much and then when the football was on one night myself and a few from hotel went to bar up the road and felt tipsy after a few bottles of San Miguel. The bars must of been watered down, really I am not making any of this up.
I remember reading the reports after I booked it and hoped all was wrong but really they're not, it is like hell this hotel is.
If you need the safe make sure you take a safe full of money just to pay for the hire of their safe, mega bucks.
When I complained to the Airtours staff after my daughter was sick for about 36 hours and I was ill all they said was don't matter your going home in a couple of day's - what a joke.

Cala Blanca resort is lovely if you...
6 / 10
Oct 2007, Mrs M Chamberlain

Cala Blanca resort is lovely if you want a quiet holiday centred round the beach. Sea was calm enough for me to go in (I hate going in the sea)! Check about jelly fish if yellow flag is flying! A very easy walk from the hotel too. Easy access by local bus to nearby towns and resorts.
Hotel: Food; if you are vegetarian don't even think about this hotel. To quote 'we don't cater for you'. Even salads had meat in them, and don't bother asking - you will be told 'no meat' sometimes when it is obvious that there is meat in the dish (we veggies are from another planet remember). If you like good English tea - take your own tea bags or buy Liptons once you get there. Same applies of the coffee - it is VERY strong.
Entertainment: Actually, this was good. The animation team work really hard both during the day and evening (although there were complaints about lack of organised entertainment for the children). Some of the evening guest entertainers were excellent. No smoking in the hotel was a massive bonus, but you do have to run the gauntlet of smokers just outside the door to the pool area.
Noise: Although signs are up about 'no noise after 11 pm' - forget it. It was certainly not enforced when we were there and the rooms overlooking the pool had to endure noise until the early hours of the morning. Problem with this being an all inclusive hotel is that there was a lot of drink induced 'merriment'. Cleaners noisy in the morning too.
Cleanliness: Overall, not too bad. However, our room was not cleaned particularly well in the week we were there - especially the floors and bathroom. Clean towels every day.
There were loose steps (internal wooden staircase) which was disconcerting when you were coming down them. Also the stair rods holding the carpet in place were not fastened in properly. We pointed this out, but nothing was done.
Staff: with the exception of reception, the staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be. Reception staff could be rather curt and lacked basic knowledge about the area.
Would we go again? To the resort, yes. To the hotel - no. To Menorca? Definitely.

Aug 2007, Miss S JORDAN

Menorca is a beautiful island with lovely beaches. The hotel Cala Blanca was not described correctly on their web site.
The rooms were not cleaned to a good standard and the food was appalling. The manager was not interested in listening to our complaints. Cala Blanca itself was a quiet resort with only one shop, therefore the prices were over the top.
I would visit Menorca again but would be very choosy where I stay. The residents were friendly and the island is kept very well.

We booked this on 29th July and flew 18th August 2007 (3 weeks later) it cost £1519 for 1 week for a 2 bedroom apartment! Sun4u.com arranged flights - transfer and accommodation, we were told to pick tickets up at airport as we were so late in booking it. We arrived a B'ham queued for 1/2 hr to get tickets only to be told it was a ticket less flight!
On arrival at Menorca we were given a company contact name, after searching for 1hr were told that they no longer dealt with sun4u and hadn't since the beginning of the season so how did they book it! So we asked an English rep to call the emergency telephone number for us as they only spoke Spanish, only to find out it was someone’s home nothing to do with transfers.
I called sun4u, they were not interested, and so we had to get a taxi! On arrival at Cala Blanca apartments, there was no reception nothing a Spanish speaking tourist showed us to a piece of paper stuck on the wall with all new arrivals names on, the key was in the door.
After lugging our cases up the stairs we found a balcony no a terrace no! Just a small area covered in green moss and ants and a mop and a bucket a table and 4 chairs. Inside it was quiet big with two bathrooms a living area with one sofa no good for a family of 4.
2 rings no good for self catering - no kettle, no toaster nothing apart from a tin of mosi/ant spray!! The light switches were hanging off in the bathroom, the tap in the kitchen fell off if you put it on two fast!
There were dead ants stuck to both bathroom walls, sure sign not cleaned properly ants running up the walls, the fridge was frozen up, the bath was disgusting we had to go and but some cleaner, there are no fans as advertised, the drawers had the bottoms falling out.
As there was no reception you had no one to complain too – you had a safety deposit box in your room, but what good is that with out a key? As the cleaners did not speak English, we were told by a resident who arrived on the 2nd from last day of our holiday that the reception was a bus ride away in Cala Santridum - ideal not!
The pool was cleaned on the last day we were there it was very small which isn't a problem for kids but when it is not clean it is no good - we called sun4u twice a day for the first 5 days they were not interested!
So be warned unless you want to waste your money and stay in a dump stay clear of this - Cala Blanca itself it too quiet for anyone with kids mine are 12 + 10 there are only 4 restaurants and 1 bar.
Apparently we were told by a English waiter 2 years ago it was really busy now it is the most quietest place on the island with nothing to do and subsequently most have gone bust!

We traveled to Menorca in May this...

Sep 2006, Miss S Hambidge

We traveled to Menorca in May this year and we were not disappointed at all. After reading some of your comments before we traveled we were very worried about going to this hotel.
When we got to the hotel we could believe how many cleaners there were, polishing and cleaning all day long.
And you only get drinks in plastic cups in the day. In the evening you get glasses. There were no broken tiles in the pools.
The staff are very friendly especially Anna and the guy who works with her (can’t remember his name) they do all the activities and evening entertainment. The rooms are very nice as well.
I also read somewhere the cleaners were stealing from rooms and that people had food poisoning. This never happened while we stayed. Some people had a bad tummy but that was cause they drunk the water.
All in all we had a brilliant holiday and would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel is located around a 10...

Feb 2006, Miss L Campbell

The hotel is located around a 10 minute walk from the main resort centre. There are nearby shops, car/bike rental, bars & restaurants. The beach is a 5 minute walk away, but is set in a small cove so quite small. Beware! Sun loungers & parasols on the beach are really expensive - we paid 15 euros for 2 loungers & a parasol!
The hotel itself is nice although quite basic. The one downside is that all rooms are located at least 1 flight up & there is only 1 small lift. The rooms are a good size & have good sized balconies. Your towels in the room were changed as often as required - just leave the dirty ones in the bath when you require clean ones.
The restaurant was open almost all day - breakfast 8-10am, lunch 1-3pm, dinner 6-8pm & snacks all day in between until midnight. Food was quite simple & repetitive, usually consisting of 2 main fish/meat dishes and a choice of salad, veg & pasta. Beware if you like toast in the morning - the toaster is self service & takes forever - half the battle is just to get near it in the first place! Packed lunches are also available if you're planning a day at the beach. Snacks weren't really up to much - usually left overs from the night befores dinner! As usual the tea/coffee machines were dreadful! The only drink available after breakfast was water or wine as they switched off the juice machines!
The hotel bar was a real eye opener! Considering the size of the hotel the actual bar was tiny with no more than 3 people serving at a time. As you can imagine the queues were enormous. During the day it was only the pool bar that was open, even then you were lucky to get served. Beer drinkers beware! I hope you like drinking out of tiny plastic party cups because that's what you get! You would have to order at least 4 to get a full pint. We thought this would change at night when the lounge bar opened - wrong! All drinks all day were served in the same tiny plastic cups. As for the cocktails - I wouldn't bother if I were you - unless you like the press the button out of the machine variety! Yuck!
Entertainment at night was OK - Robbie Williams tribute night, prize bingo & movie quiz night were the ones I remember.
The pool area was a good size with plenty of space for sun worshipping. The pool itself was rather small, but adequate, as was the children’s pool. Don't believe all you read - I didn't see any broken tiles!
All in all we really enjoyed our holiday in Cala Blanca. The resort was relatively small but perfect for a relaxing family holiday!

Worst Holiday we have ever had and no...

May 2005, Mrs E Cumming

Worst Holiday we have ever had and no back up from Rep or Hotel staff. Broken tiles in Kids pool - our 2yr old had to spend hols unable to walk with feet in bandages due to broken tiles.
Food ok for adults but not the best, certainly doesn’t cater for kids - left overs from lunchtime - cold pizza. No ice-lollies just ice-cream that couldn’t be taken out of dinning room. Entertainment poor - magician eating razor blades - great for kids! A lot of theft from rooms - but denied by management. Would never visit Menorca again.

Large hotel,no entertainment to speak of, what there was took place indoors, no air conditioning, small ( ish ) pool one pool bar ( queues all day and night ) Food was awful ,the chef was adept at recycling left overs, Cala Blanca itself is very small, beach is not very clean, it was just an OK holiday but we wouldnt go back to Menorca.
