Hotel Monachus Park Reviews

When you pull up outside this hotel your first thought will be 'Oh my god what have I done?'. The outside leaves a lot to be desired, it does look very run down tbh. We checked in quickly, the reception staff were friendly although their English wasnt brilliant but we had... more

Outstanding!!
from Dia3864
We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Monachus Park hotel. The hotel is Immaculately clean, the bedroom far and above the normal package holiday norm (laminate floors, beautiful bathroom). (my one and only negative was the lack of a view due to the position of the room- but the room was so nice I didnt ask to be moved!) The food was excellent and plentiful- All drinks and food were self service from various locations around the complex. A short walk to the beach but has its own snack/resteraunt facility on the beach. On arrival the mini-bar in the room is stocked with soft drinks (included in AI). We arrived at the hotel in the early hours of the morning, there was a cold buffet available. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pools were very clean, I particularly liked the Adults only pool (Wonderful idea). I would definately recommend this hotel and will be going back, outstanding value for money!!

Ive just recently returned from a stay at the Monachus Park & having read some reviews previously was a little worried, but I found all my concerns unfounded and had a fantastic holiday. I travelled with my friend and her 9 year old son for a week. When we first arrived very early morning we were met by a very pleasant man on reception who checked us in very quickly and arranged for a porter to show us to our room and carry our cases. The room was very spacious, modern and clean and had all the amenities requried such as a mini bar, tv, telephone and hairdryer, plus plenty of draw and waldrobe space. The slides in the hotel were excellent for the kids and adults alike and were open 1.5 hours in the morning and in the afternoon which worked out perfectly for us. There are 3 outdoor pools aswell as one indoor pool which we didn't use as the weather was great. We had no problems getting a sunbed as i'd previously read as the hotel are very stricht on people reserving sunbeds and we found most people went to the beach anyway. Towels are provided and you just return them when you want a clean one. We went to the beach a couple of times which is lovely and clean and there is a restaurant down there too so you don't have to go back to the hotel to eat. We found the food very enjoyable, there was a good choice and it was never repetetive! The hotel also offered carte d'or ice cream and cakes as a snack at 4pm and they were to die for! Needless to say I put a few pounds on by my return. We also dined in the italian a la carte which was gorgeous and they even did chips and pizza for ben as he's a bit of a fussy eater, I would highly recommend it. The staff at the hotel were very friendly especially the animation team who work so hard all day with their daytime activities such as water polo and their evening shows which are some of the best quality ive seen. We were out numbered by the germans but didnt find this a problem and even made friends with a lovely couple and their grandson. The all inclusive drinks were good you even had wine and beer on tap saving you queing at the bar, the only downfall was no cocktails unless you paid extra but the wine and turborg beer was so nice we didnt find it that much of a problem. Overall I would rate this hotel very highly and would recommend it to anyone who came into my travel agency, especially families and I would most certainly return again myself in the future.
A different experience
from natandsam
We arrived early hours in the morning and went straight to the room which was very clean and modern. When we looked outside we were a bit worried at the sight that we looked out on. to the right of us there was a building site so just ask tour reps what is going on there if you are booking, even though this did not bother us, it was only the early stages of the development!!!! It also looked like a waste land not very attractive. The hotel was very clean through out and the pool and water slides were great. The food was to the, what can I say to satisfy the more eastern european visitors, a good choice but after two weeks a little boring. The animation team were great for the kids and the kids club was fantastic my daughter did not want to leave as for me I couldnt wait. The entertainment and the hotel is geared up for mainly German visitors and the area does not have much to do outside the hotel walls. The beach was ok could do with a little bit of a clean up and the area you got your drinks from really smelt and swamped by wasps. Some staff were rude when they found out we were English and the cost of thing differe if you are from Germany, Russia or any where apart from England being more expensive if you were English so if you can talk German your on to a winner. The hotel shop was expensive and the staff very rude. I also found it was cheaper to pay in Turkish Lira than euro and more so sterling. The animation team worked very hard and my hat goes off to them the hours they worked were unbelievable. Breakfast finishes at 10.00 which i felt was to early, and if you miss it you have to wait for lunch!!! we went to Side at this was ok but be warned lunch was very expensive. Overall it was not great for us, but for kids you can not complain. luckly the weather was great and I would not return to this hotel.
What a great Holiday
from heleana
Fantastic Holiday, food was excellent for children & adults there was something for everyone. Hotel rooms were spotless, nothing was to much we even had are washing & ironing done. The pools were clean all the time & the area around them. Entertainment was second to none, day time & evenings. I rate this holiday 110%. We were a family of 3 (1 child) & we made some great friends with Germans, French, Swiss & of course English. We would meet for drinks in the evening and call it the united nations table. What a great time we had.

Firstly i would like to thank the previous reviewers for their comments, they did help but i would like to share our experiences of Monachus Park. We arrived at the unearthly time of 04:30am to find a pleasant receptionist who it seemed had memorised the "welcome to our hotel and all of that" which it seemed to last at least 1/2 hour. We had 3 in our family ( 2 adults and 1 child (8)), our room (which resembled a Travel Lodge room) was clean and basic, on the small side but ok. We chose this holiday because it seemed there was alot to do for our 8 year daughter ( how wrong we were ), the picture of the slides in the brochure looked inviting as did "the hotel run kids club" but be warned the slides are only on for 1.5hr in the morning and the same in the afternoon this is due to the fact that the animation team "supervise" the slides, the so called kids club is actually a "Neckermann Family Club" for german kids - they do not take any notice of British kids whatsoever and the same goes for the kids disco - all in German and songs you have never heard off, if it wasn't for the other British families that we met ( and there wasn't alot of them) this holiday would have been a bit of a night mare. What the brochure doesn't tell you is that its an International hotel ie, Germans, Russians, - its the first year that Thomas Cook has used this hotel. The nightly entertainment looked good if you could understand it as again its aimed at the Germans and Russians (Lion King in German just didn't seem right), the only thing we understood was "Lord of the Dance" ( there were no lyrics !! ) As stated by other reviewers, the sunbeds were a nightmare, we spent the first four days without sunbeds ( as they had been taken by the Germans / Russians even though half were not used) after a few moans to the rep by the brits ( which brought about a speach from the animation team ( who were friendly once they got to know you !!) to "respect each other") nothing changed, so you have to beat them at their own game!!!!. The hotel food was very good with lots of choice but seemed to centre around the same but with variations. Unfortunatly my daughter had an accident, beware the pool area as there seems to be alot of excess water which does not drain away, she needed 5 stitches - the Doctor for both Monachus Hotels was very good applying the stitches on site. We took a couple of trips, one to a Hamam (Turkish Bath) which was well worth £10, but the trip to Aqualand (Antayla) was not worth it as we only had 4.5hr there after a stop at the obligatory Jewels factory and showroom (these trips were taken from one of the booking agencies - not tour companies) The beach which belonged to the hotel had the same Catering facilities as the main hotel which was excellent and really enjoyable as the sea was warm and quite shallow to a reasonable distance. Beware of the cocktail party, they charge you 5 euros ( even though its ALL INCLUSIVE) The highlight was the Beach Fire Party on the Saturday which was good fun especially from the "seaward side" and at no extra cost at all. The local shops are not worth mentioning, my advice is to go to Kumkoy (5 mins by dolmus) lots of shops and cheaper than Side (15 mins by dolmus) though Side is worth a visit or two. If there was a slight "moan" it would be about the fact that there was no bottled water, not even cold water as the "water butts" which dispensed the water could not keep even remotely on the cold side. One last note, was it value for money - NO, the restrictions on all inclusives are getting more and i believe we are getting less for our money. Hope this helps Regards Stuart
Mixed feelings
from hottuna1
This was our first time in Turkey and also our first time going all-inclusive, shame to say it will be our last. The hotel is great, modern with fairly good facilities, spotless and fairly well run, it is however not a 4* or even 5* hotel as they like to class it. Food, great the first week then it became boring. All nicely presented and fresh but the selection on some evenings made you wonder who had devised the menu, I am not a fish lover so when the only main hot meals where "Fish and Veal Tongue" you are stuck. The staff also have problems clearing and cleaning tables so if you go down late for dinner, after 8, you have to sit at an unclean table and hope someone will clean it. They also had a habit of turning of the air con at 8.30. The al a Carte restaurants are not up to standard, you can select from 2 or 3 mains (fish or Italian) and are expected to arrive at 7.30, don’t worry about dress code, the Germans turn up in what they wore to the beach that day! We tried the Italian and I have to say that the Chicken as the main course was what you would expect at primary school, basically chicken dippers. Drinks, all local beer, vodka, gin, wine and soft drinks are free as you would expect but make sure you have not got an empty glass at midnight, it turns of on the dot. Pools and Sunbeds, the main pool is always busy and the smaller pool even though it has age restrictions are totally ignored by the Germans and Russians. So if you want a quite time by the side of the pool you wont get it. The other main problem is the hotel "entertainment team" have music blasting out all day and it goes ballistic when the "Hotel Song" is sung around 11 every day. Sunbeds, get down early as they are in short supply and the Germans will beat you. One other thing you will notice is that a group of sunbed may have towels on the all day and no occupants, that’s because they are down the beach and they assume they have a right to have sunbeds at both the beach and the pool. The pools are clean but ear infections seem to be rife!! Travel, use the Dolmus (the small busses) they are cheap and run every 2 or 3 minutes and you won’t get ripped off unlike the taxis. Side is fine for those who want to look at old ruins or buy clothes or jewellery in the many shops. As with all shopping areas in Turkey you get "hassled" non-stop, it can become very annoying. I would suggest that before your go to learn a few words in "Welsh" as this will throw them and they will not hassle you again. Manavgat market is the same with stall after stall of fake gear and they all want you to buy. Entertainment, no its not. Amateur to say the least and if you don’t speak German you wont understand whets going on.
Have Fun at Monachus

Monachus park is a beautiful hotel, spotless! you will always see some one cleaning. The food is excellent, lots of choice, we had three kids with us who loved going to help themselves. The swimming pools are great and the slides are good fun, but the sunbeds get taken pretty quickly. The animation team organise activities during the day and their "Theme Song" will haunt you long after you return home. Their is a kids club which looks excellent, unfortunately only if you speak german! the "all inclusive" on drinks is only till 12 not 2 as it states in the brochure, and if you are travelling with Thomas Cook do not book the 'BON VOYAGE' trip, I will spare you the horrors but fellow victims will no what I mean! also take EUROS with you. The shops on the main road are worth a look at, got some nice bargains. We had a brill time and would go back next year.
This place is great!!!!

My husband and i visited this area of turkey in may 06.... and stayed at the monachus park hotel. Like everyone else we were a bit apprehensive about it as there were not many english reviews about it! .....we really shouldnt have worried because this place was great! We arrived about 2 a.m and was offered the option of having some dinner made for us before being taken to our rooms, which was a lovely gesture... and also a nice quirk was the rose that was given to me on check in by the reception staff. The rooms in this hotel are incredibly clean and very modern, (thank god some decided to move on from the ugly 80s decor found in most hotels!) the room we stayed in was at the back of the hotel with a view of the hotel opposite and you could just about see the sea in the distance, we had a huge double bed that was very comfy and also a bunk bed which is ideal for families! it was quite spacious and hads it own balcony with towel rails so you could dry your towel and swimmers on it easily, on that point... the beach towels are free in the hotel but you have to keep the same ones for the whole stay, an extra one will cost you! the bathrooms are nice too... and kept very clean! i think the cleaners work all day and you can litrerally see them doing their job throughout the day! one down side to the rooms is that we found it really noisy... there seems to be an echo problem in the hotel...you can hear everything that goes on outside your room, i think it might be the way the hotel is laid out, but its not ideal if you have a late night and are woken by hungry kids at 6.30 a.m! The food in the restaurant was good, kebabs and lovely fresh salads along with normal european cusine like chips and spag bol for the less adventurous... we ate in almost everyday as we found that eating out in Side was quite an expensive process... it cost us £20 in taxi fares to get to and from side and the recommended restaurants were charging about £40 on average for the meal... not worth it either as portions were also very small! It is worth visiting Side though for its fantastic ruins, but be aware of the locals hassling you to come inand buy... it got annoying after a while! The hotel facilities were good too, free drinks all day was a god send! there are three pools, one for kids, one large one for normal use and a smaller one for people without children who want a little quiet time (children under 14 or 15 are barred from this pool) the snacks throughout the day were ok... didnt really like the cakes on offer but thats to your own taste, and ice cream is served at 4 p.m daily! The staff are lovely although they dont speak english very well.... and tended to speak to us in german even though we told them we didnt understand it! but they do make a real effort to make you feel welcome... some times too welcome by sitting with you at lunch (its hard when you dont speak the same language) the shows were great and great for kids, make sure you stay for the cocktail party it was a great laugh and also the beach party on the sat night! that was one of the best nights we had! for the clubbers... there was one AMAZING club that we went to called OXYD! fantastic! but drinks were expensive! would recommend some of the tours like aspendos...that was amazing, i dont think the tour to manavgat market was worth the money, you could get the same stuff in Side and the boat trip just wasnt worth it especially not with the visit to the most boring and ridiculously expensive jewellery shop ever! the waterfalls...although they were all lovely they were all too similar (we went on 3 trips which all included waterfalls!) one last tip, take euros with you... everything is priced in euros and locals dont like taking Lira, if you do give lira you get your change back in euros... and never the correct amount! All in all a great place and would consider coming back!
you've no need to worry

we have just arrived back after a fab week to this hotel. standards are high, rooms new fresh and comfortable. the food was varied choice and lots of lovely salads and meat fish keebabs etc. we found that we could also use the hotel opposite which is a much smaller scale so lovely for breakfast. in addition to that we were told that we could also use the 'snack bar' at the beach. well to our amazment it was a full blown taverna with olive trees to sit under and drink beer and wine all day if you wished. beach is nice bit seeweedy but warm water clean and sandy. we found it hard to buy anything so we found a little market on beach where you can get spices t-shirts etc. you have to hagle. we managed to get the fake designer for 5 euros a peice. not all drinks are free and only till 12 not 2. everything is turned off on the strick of 12!!! bad points too many rude germans but really it was an advantage to us as they dont like them either bear in mind that a trip to side was hard work. if i knew they hassled you that much i wouldnt have bothered. we ate in a competative rest and was awful so dont waste your money. tukish shave well worth according to my partner and his mate. on the whole not too many bad points and we would certainly like to return if the price was as good. make the most of it , have a grat time we are in our 40,s like to party and like to have quiet time so we managed to get both. sad if your flight home is on thurs eve as you only get half the cocktail party which was very gifficult to leave. please let me know if this has helped you ali, tim, sal and paul

Overall it was a brilliant holiday and there is very little I can find fault with the hotel. The hotel, its grounds, restaurants, bar areas, toilet & showers, play areas & swimming pools were very very clean & safe. The staff worked day & night to make the customers holiday... more
