Dear all,
I have just returned from Tunisia after an incredible 2 weeks staying at hotel Bel Air, I must admit I wasn't too keen on the idea of going to Tunisia to start with but I was gob smacked to finally spend the time of my life along with my wife and my son.
The staff were extremely friendly and always went to extremes to make sure everything was spot on. The food was excellent as was the variety, there are 4 different eating points at the hotel which served different kinds of food such as English food. At cheers bar you can eat English food all day and was top class as it is ran by an English woman called Kate.
The entertainment was outstanding as they entertained everyone from morning till night (smashing lads), I was surprised to read the other reviews about the Bel Air as I quite frankly enjoyed every minute of my stay and a matter of fact hope to go back soon.
Hotel surroundings and our rooms was immaculate and cleaned on a daily basis, hotel ha a bowling alley which has 12 lanes so i managed to improve my skills at that, we went on different trips as well as visiting the new medina where you get massive bargains on souvenirs.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to experience the charm of Tunisia all in all it was excellent.
Regards: Mr Alex s Dunn.

This is the worse hotel I have ever experienced in my life. I have stayed in many 1* accommodation.
If you like doors which look like they’ve been kicked in, engrained dirt and mould in bathrooms, curtains hanging off rails, balconies the size of a window box and sleeping on concrete blocks with a mattress on go ahead and book. By the way I wouldn’t feed my dog the food that was thrown around the service area in the restaurant. I begged to go home.
By the way this has the reputation of being the worst hotel in Hammamet. What a surprise! Ask any Rep!
Please don’t judge all Tunisia by this but you really do need to go 5* to get anywhere decent to stay. Visit Yasmin Hammamet, it makes Hammamet around the Belair look like a war zone and its only 10 minutes away. People there are more that welcoming.

Just came back from the Bel Air in Hammamet and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff are very friendly and courteous, the accommodation is very clean although basic - twin beds, bath, shower and toilet.
Entertainment is great for everyone, although we travelled without children, others were accommodated well. the pool is extremely clean and safety is maintained by 2 friendly lifeguards. Food - everyone has different opinions. breakfast is a bit boring and repetitive. We found dinner had a good selection but there were a few moaners going on about missing their shepherds pie etc, mostly over 50 I hasten to add. if you like the English grub there are 2 places next to the hotel to try.
The resort is fairly lively and Saturday night appears to be the time that every car horn in Hammamet seems to go into overdrive, until the early hours (6am!) Finally, make sure you request a pool view as it can get somewhat noisy on the other side. Overall had a fab time and would most definitely return again.

The staff, food & atmosphere here were great and for people wanting to party or be entertained pretty much 24/7 this maybe their ideal choice.
Unfortunately the thumping music from the two nearby bars (close 4am) accompanied by the hotel entertainment round the pool was not a welcoming site when we arrived at around midnight. The next day wasn’t any better as the trip to the local beach was disappointing (smelly as) & the entertainment staff round the pool were a tad too eager with there frequent calls of 'wakey wakey' over loud music as they peered over into your face as you were sunbathing.
Needless to say we, like others spoke to the rep. After the 2nd night when we lost all hot water we paid to move to a different hotel which wasn’t too bad as we had only paid for a last minute 2*an allocation on arrival deal. THINK ON!!

Fantastic hotel, fantastic staff! Entertainment for the kids was excellent and the entertainment team worked all day keeping adults and kids involved-food was to my liking and there was always something on the menu for anyone with fussy kids who prefer chips/burgers etc but the local fish and salads were superb.
Hotel is scrupulously clean and the pool area gets cleaned every night-2 lifeguards on duty at the pool and unlike many places we have been they are actually attentive to their job rather than wandering around the area-children were in safe hands.
This is an absolutely ideal family hotel-probably the best we have experienced-would probably not suit young couples looking for nightlife but for peace and quiet, entertainment, food and value cannot be faulted-we will be back!

Please do even consider staying at this hotel. Read ALL of this report below.
The staff ranged from being satisfactory through to simply dangerous. We felt that, in some cases, they were going out of their way to cause us trouble. 3 stars is far too generous a rating for this hotel.
The daytime entertainment is good but at night time is very tacky and goes on till 12 every night at unnecessarily high volume. This is just about bearable and we could have put up with it except that we were going on safari leaving at 5am.
We asked to change rooms and were told that this was not possible but that we could call down and ask for the music to be turned down and this would be no problem.
- I first went down that night to request earplugs but they didn’t have any so I got an extra pillow to try and bury my head under, it didn’t work. I called down later and was told the music would be off in 20mins and the volume downstairs was turned up. Called back half an hour later and was fobbed off again, it would be 2 more mins more. 15mins later I asked my other half to call. For some reason a male voice gets a more honest response. Instead of fobbing him off he was told the music would go on and there was nothing he could do about it. Apparently the ‘entertainment’ people do whatever they want.
We went on our trip to the Sahara completely knackered but at least we stayed at a couple of decent hotels which put the BelAir to shame even though one was the same star rating.
When we got back we asked to move to a QUIET room in the hope of getting some rest. They moved us to a different room located directly opposite and above 2 bars who turn the volume up at around 12pm and go on until 4am. Nice one, I am sure he found it very amusing, the music was pulsating through the room. I had to call the rep in the middle of the night in desperation, she could hear it over the phone and agreed to call reception. They then moved us to another room next to the lift so that kept us awake the following nights but we didn’t dare ask to move again!
The inclusive food is pretty awful, many people chose to eat out, the food they serve at the pool bar (which you pay for) is very nice. The bars are ok although we did spot 2 cockroaches in the Cheers bar.
Now the bit that shocked us. We befriended a couple while we were there. The final blow came when the young man was verbally assaulted and threatened with a BOTTLE by a member of the bar staff. This was because he dared to question why a British guest had received a cocktail which was twice the size of the one given to his girlfriend. The manager apologised to him but I really couldn’t believe that this kind of thing was possible, believe me, there are several witnesses! I felt even more uneasy for the remainder of my stay.
I feel sad to think that people are going on holiday right now and will have to stay at this hotel. - I went feeling happy after reading several good reviews, I don’t understand, these must be for a different hotel.

I have been to Hammamet twice last year, July and August, and the second stay was with the Bel Air Hotel. I have read previous reviews on the hotel and I have to completely disagree. The Bel air hotel is fantastic. The entertainment is good, it carries on throughout the day into the evening. There is a good variety of activities, and the evening entertainment is suited to all.
The music is not loud, and was enjoyed by all. The food in the hotel is standard enough, however, you are on hols and need to sample their food. The hotel has good bars, an indoor pool, bowling alley, pizzeria, Indian, jewellery and leather shops. They have other facilities such as massages, Turkish baths etc.
We enjoyed our holiday so much that six of us are going back next month, with a further four joining us the week after.

Loved this place. Made to feel most welcome at every turn by the friendly staff. Rooms cleaned regularly by very friendly cleaners, I was most impressed at having to have seen the Doctor, the Cleaner asked how I was the next day - little touches like that go a long way.
Food wasn’t to my particular liking but everyone has their own preference, put it this way I never starved so there was something on every day I could take!
Short walk to the beach, around 500 yards I’d make it, seemed a lot of seaweed but it’s generally clean and the Hotel has it’s own section.
Pool area kept clean, well patrolled by the ever-alert Said and Billy, anyone with kids can feel safe and secure here.
Entertainment was put on by Sam and Mimi, mainly. They put a huge amount of effort into this and deserve a lot of credit for their hard and entertaining work. Take part in things, it’s very worthwhile. Games during the day, water polo is a must!
When we left they came to the front door to wave us off, everyone made such an impression we have booked to return during the same period in 2005.

FANTASTIC HOTEL!!!! I really cannot understand the complaints previously, this hotel is a really enjoyable hotel with great staff, the food is good and the entertainment is fun, the rooms are cleaned every day with special attention to beds!, the bars in the hotel are English run and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. the beach is beautiful and you can spend all day there with beach bars serving food and drinks, their are trips out which you can book at the hotel at very good rates and the pool area is clean and well serviced I have stayed at this hotel three times now and am looking forward to another stay in September of this year with 3 others, I can definitely recommend this hotel!!
