We arrived at the hotel in the early hours of the morning after a long coach transfer, i would highly recommend you have a bottle of water with you when you get off the plane! There was a mix up with our rooms and we were over the Las Palmas Bar in a family room as opposed to two separate rooms.
When we got in our room it was like having a Bose sound system in there with you! And unfortunately when the Las Palmas Bar finishes the British Bar opposite kicks in til 4 in the morning. My husband went to sort the mix up in the morning to find the rep already being very unhelpful with another guest who had the same problem, we couldn’t move until the Sunday, we arrived on the Thursday. Anyone not able to stay up until 4 am should not be in the front of the hotel!
Although a shaky start we did enjoy our time at this hotel. The rooms were cleaned every day, any requests for more bedding etc was seen to immediately by the maids (these got the best tip). The entertainment was brilliant and the kids really enjoyed messing around with Nino, Kaka, Bilal and Zeto. They are paid poorly and work very long hours, yet still have a smile on their face.
The food didn’t agree with me, don’t expect an English breakfast. Evening meals were well presented and on occasion eatable, we stopped eating evening meal after 4 days, and I hate to say it, felt much better tummy wise.
The Tunisian people are polite, helpful and funny, although we did have a 17 year old blonde, blue eyed daughter, who we had to flank in public, last offer was 10,000 camels!
I would go back to this hotel and resort, I would just make sure we had a room over looking the pool!

I stayed in the Bel Air for a third time in August, yes the rooms are very basic but you barely spend anytime in them. There is so much to do and how entertaining it is. The entertainment staff are superb.
The breakfast is ok but the English bar does excellent food till four including Tetley tea. The beach is gorgeous, the sea is crystal clear and plenty of water sports to do for great prices. Evening meal is always lovely about 6 or 7 meals to choose from and hotel staff are the friendliest people I have ever met.
If you’re young and like to go out clubbing, the night clubs don’t shut till six am. Evening entertainment in the hotel is good too, bingo is always a great laugh and the shows are great fun too.

Great hotel stayed there along with my 2 boys and wife, loved every minute. Clean stylish rooms and great staff who made sure we were satisfied.
Food tasty and varied, loved the breakfast as there was so much choice from cereal to French croissants and cake and full English breakfast, also loved the dinner as they offered about 6 different main courses every night, staff very friendly and helpful the waiter that served us every night even invited us for a meal once and took us for a traditional Tunisian meal in a restaurant.
All in all was fantastic can’t wait to go back in a couple of months, please don’t let the bad reviews put you off the Bel Air as its a fantastic hotel, you'll love it!

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
I can only agree with review left by Mr. Davies, only came back from Bel Air after 2 wonderful weeks, stayed at the Bel Air with my wife and 4 children and can I just say what a lovely and relaxing holiday we had. We arrived to find a lovely clean and stylish reception and welcoming members of staff who greeted us and took our bags upstairs in no time, the rooms were nice, basic, spotless and well situated facing the outdoor pool, hygiene freaks this is your heaven!
Believe it or not but I have never managed to have a decent shower during my holidays because of some fault with water systems but at the Bel Air there was no problem what so ever and enjoyed every minute of it.
Its not usually very relaxing having 4 kids moaning every 2 seconds whilst on holiday, so I was surprised to see my kids doing their own thing and having a great time, the entertainment guys were fantastic with the kids and looked after them through day time giving me some breathing space and some time to relax and sunbathe with my wife.
Entertainment put on different shows every night for the pleasure of the gusts and there was a bit for everyone from snake charmers to evening games, the entertainers sat with all the gusts after their show just to make sure they are enjoying their holiday. Restaurant food was class and yummy, the chef catered for different tastes and by the looks of it managed to keep the moaners quiet there because I haven’t heard any complaints and my kids loved it.
It was so nice to have air-conditioning in the rooms because it was definitely needed, some hotels with air-con tend to put it at a low speed to save energy but Bel Air had it on at its highest and boy was it effective!
Plenty of bars surrounding the hotel so I would class it as a little paradise for young couples (I’m too old for that). As Mr. Davies said I didn’t notice any blood stains either on the sheets and I would ask whoever left that review to check for any nose bleeds! My room was immaculate and cleaned everyday, I even left a tip for £20 to the cleaner the day I left.
Ps: People be advised hotel is a great hotel with lots of things to do, how many hotels have a bowling alley in I ask you!? Thanks Bel Air!

It is quite funny reading some reviews left by some moaners, its like being on Trisha. There are some people moaning about the hotel being basic but can I just ask one question, its a hotel room not a palace, you can't expect plasma tellys and golden toilets, quite frankly people moan just about the slightest things such as something wrong with the toilet, I went there with my wife we had a problem with our but within 10 minutes the maintenance guy came over and mended it in no time.
I loved the hotel, loved the guys that worked there, the entertainment guys may be students but they went out of their way to please everyone and worked extremely long shift to make sure everyone is entertained! Anyone saying otherwise is welcome to show them what they can do! Hotel was spotless and cleaned on a daily basis and the food was varied to suit all tastes, I met 3 couples when I was there and all of them are planning to come back in the near future.
If you go on holiday to stick to fish and chips and kebabs stay home! That’s the beauty of traveling and experiencing different cultures and dishes. Its really frustrating the was people try and ruin the reputation of such a place just because they moan about meaningless issues, mind you we won't be known as British if we didn't moan like we do!
Advise for anyone wanting to go to Tunisia and I highly recommend it as its an excellent place to go, stay at the Bel Air and you will have the laugh and the holiday of your life, locals are extremely friendly and polite, I hope to go back in a couple of months. Would like to thank all members of staff for making our holiday worthy.

As I begin this horror story we arrived outside the Bel Air early hours of the morning we were met by no rep no English speaking staff.
The lobby was bog standard, room was bog standard with no working toilets, air conditioner was very loud but on comparison to the music blaring out from the hotel across the street (British bar) which isn’t in fact anything but British was so deafening sleep was out of the question.
We demanded a room change and eventually after 2 days suffering we were moved to another room yes you've guessed it bog standard and the toilet wont flush but at least we could get sleep. Now you may think I don’t like Tunisia, but you’re wrong, as I have stayed in Port el Kantaoui 2 years ago in a hotel called Kanta which was excellent far from what I got in the Bel Air.
The food was pathetic, many of the guests including me and my partner were ill and yes no toilet to flush it. Also the entertainment was literally a joke the students who were hired to do the entertainment told me they had no experience or training so they made it up as they went along overall its poor don’t go to Hammamet there nothing there apart from the lovely beach which is why I gave a rating of 1 as that is all I can honestly say was any good. Be aware very poor!

Fantastic! I just returned home for the Belair hotel on sat 15th and I didn’t want to come home. People have complained about the rooms being basic but what more do you need on holiday than a bed a dressing table a bathroom and a wardrobe, if you wanted home comforts stay at home!
The entertainment team are excellent I would take them home if i could have, those guys work so hard for very little money, they really make you feel comfortable and organise fantastic entertainment at night. Ninos twist on bingo will have you in stitches or else very wet if you check and don’t have all the numbers. Water polo was mostly done by Kaka or Zico and those guys are great with kids. The entertainment team was always on hand to help you out if you needed it. Zico is amazing he is always joking about and doesn’t mind getting chucked in the pool
Cheers is a basic bar but the fun is great, the guys who did the break dancing were fantastic, and karaoke is hilarious especially when Sammy the DJ shimmies his way into your song.
The waiters in the dinning hall were brill, we were served every night by the same waiter who was exceptionally friendly and we never had to wait about to be asked if we needed a drink.
I had a fantastic holiday and am definitely planning on returning soon. I loved it!

I have just returned from my "holiday" and like everyone else am now catching up on sleep. The British Bar stays open until 6am some morning blaring out music, some night karaoke, so its impossible to sleep. We asked to be moved as I am 7 months pregnant and this was supposed to be relaxing but were told there were no free rooms. Later that day new arrivals came and checked into rooms away from the British Bar. I later found out that one lady paid the manager to move her, that way a room was available.
The rooms were basic and clean but it was all that was needed.
The food was terrible. Breakfast is the same everyday and the dinner selection is poor. So many people were becoming ill (including myself and I was very careful about what I ate) that they were eating out of the hotel. The entertainment staff are great, they really try hard and are pleasant.
The pool was a health and safety hazard. The edges had tiles missing so children were catching their feet and hurting themselves. I'm also not sure what it was in the pool but it seemed to be giving out an ear infection too.
This is not a 3 star hotel.

What a nightmare from start to finish. The first room my fiancé and I was given was like being in the middle of a disco (thanks to the British Bar playing extremely loud music until 4am) and we also had to remove the cistern lid of the toilet to get it to flush. Nice. The rooms themselves were very basic and the quality of the workmanship was appalling. After 2 sleepless nights we demanded a room change. This time the toilet lasted a whole 3 days before that one broke too. We were also given a dirty blanket full of long black hair from the previous occupant.
The food in the hotel was so bad. It was bland, tasteless rice and pasta for main course and parts of animals I didn’t even dare hazard a guess to what part it was. We ate out most of the time, at an extra cost to me.
The hotel management displayed a notice that sun beds where not to be reserved by placing towels on them but I witnessed a lifeguard (and I use the term lightly) placing towels on the sun beds for his favourite guests or dare I say those that had paid him to reserve them. I had to get up at 6am to ensure I got one of the very limited sun beds. I didn't pay good money to lay on the grass! The swimming pool was very cloudy and caused my eyes to become sore due to the excessive amount of chlorine being placed in the pool. I also felt my privacy was invaded by the hotels photographer who took photos of me in the swimming pool at every available opportunity.
My fiancé tried to speak to the hotel manager about the problems we where having but he claimed not to speak any English but we heard him on more than one occasion speaking it. Our rep informed us that the problem with the loud music from the British bar had been going on for ages. When booking the hotel we were not informed of this fact by Panorama. If we had known this then we would not have chosen the Belair. I wanted a relaxing holiday. Many of the other guests at the hotel told me they were in tears because of the lack of sleep.
It was the longest week of my life and I would avoid the Belair at all cost.

Firstly I don’t understand how anyone could possibly give it a mark 1. It was the best hotel I have ever stayed in and I am going there this week.
The staff! They were excellent! They would attend to your needs around the pool helpful at the service desk and the cleaners were outstanding.
Next is the food! I’m not a fussy eater so the menu for me was wonderful , all sorts of foods such as calamari and spag bol . Fish dinners and for the kids the usual chips and different meals such as pasta and chicken dishes. Pudding were lovely too. Waiters would take you to your table and serve you drink.
The rooms were simple with (bed, wardrobe, bath, shower, dresser and small balcony area. After all who spends much of their time in the hotel room? There were TVs to hire as well but they’re not needed on holiday unless you need something to entertain the children with before dinner.
Fourthly the pool was 5 stars. We spoke to the pool attendant whilst on our visit and he worked from 8 til 10 every day solidly. He only earned about 7 pounds a day which is about 14 dinar. There were always great activities in the pool as well from water aerobics in the morning to water polo tournaments.
All in all the hotel was top notch.
Entertainment 8 - 10
Pool 10 - 10

We have just returned from the Bel Air, after reading some comments on Bel Air i was a bit wary of the place but when you get there you realise that most people moan because they have nothing else to do!
The staff at the hotel are very friendly indeed, the rooms are cleaned daily and the bed linen decorated in a different way every day sometimes with fresh flowers, yes the room is basic but who needs more than a bed, wardrobe, shower, balcony and air condition. The entertainment staff are fantastic with different themes every night, children’s entertainment is first and the children love them.
The food is nice and we couldn’t understand why people were moaning about it as we left most nights full plus there is always plenty of it and the dessert cakes are lovely. The beach and sea is fantastic, the only place I have ever swam in the sea.

You get mixed reports as to the hotel's star rating - some say 3, others (inc. the hotel!) say 4. I would suggest it's nearer a 3 than a 4. That said, the hotel is very clean and certainly not unpleasant on the eye. The same can be said about the rooms which are also of a good size and everything works.
The hotel staff are, without exception, the most cheerful, pleasant people you could expect to meet and a credit to their country. It's a pity the same couldn't be said about many of the guests, in particular the spanners who insisted on wearing sunglasses at dinner, but I guess that's outside the hotel's remit! The food is plentiful and, from my experience, typical of what one can expect from a Greek hotel buffet - namely lots of meat (shame as we are both veggie), Greek salad, and whilst it's not going to win any gastronomic awards, perfectly edible.
There's a private beach, but as with all the western Rhodes coastline in that area at least, it's not the best, with mostly pebbles, wind and very choppy water. We found the beaches on the east coast to be generally much better and only around half an hour's drive or so from Ixia. If you're after a lively, sandy beach, we found Faliraki surprisingly good. We'd recommend Popeye's tour (15 Euros pp) which goes from the harbour there and takes you to a few nearby coves, inc. Anthony Quinn Bay which is wonderful for snorkeling.
Do also get to the various coves at Kalithea (just north of Faliraki) as these have big stretches of shallow water and are therefore particularly good for young children.
Rhodes town is also very pleasant, being divided into the old town built within the ancient fortress and the new part where the shopping is a lot less touristy. A great blend and certainly the old town is somewhere you can spend a lot of time in the evenings.
Getting around Rhodes by taxi is also very good - we never experienced anything but very reasonable fares and helpful drivers.
Overall, I would certainly recommend the hotel as good value-for-money. I would not say that Ixia itself is the best place to stay, but it is conveniently located in terms of access to other parts of the island e.g. Rhodes Town, the airport etc.
