Only as a Budget Choice
from bobboyen
My girlfriend and I stayed here and were somewhat disappointed. We had stayed at a nicer hotel (at a cost about 30% higher than Alp) earlier in our trip so perhaps the bar was set high but still. Our first room (304?) was unacceptable and we got moved to 401 for our second night. 401 was much better, larger. The Goods: 1) View at breakfast was great 2) Downstairs staff is very polite 3) Nice, classic furniture in the rooms The Bads: 1) The bathroom mold (in the shower) is really bad to look at. We were in...

Over Rated
from Brunate
The rooms are nicely decorated and the terrace is unbeatable - surely the best of any budget restaurant. It has both an outdoor and an indoor part - handly when it rains. Wi-fi works well there. But the breakfast is not great - no cereal or anything hot. One day all the bread was stale. It's hard to get the attention of the person preparing the breakfast to get coffee because she is always on her cell phone. She smokes while making coffee and then sits in the dining room and continues smoking. The rest of the staff are very friendly and...

Nice, Conveniently Located Guesthouse
from PH15
I chose to stay at the Alp for my second visit in Istanbul after reading all the positive reviews online. As many of the previous reviews have emphasized, the location of the Alp is great! It's next to many of the main sights in the Sultanahmet area and is conveniently connected to other main sights in Istanbul via public transportation. The rooms are clean and of reasonable size. The view on the terrace is beautiful. And most importantly, the service is personal and good. My friend arrived at the guesthouse at 5am and the innkeeper...

Great location...except for the mosque next door
from AngelaTLW
The hotel itself is impeccable, with clean rooms, fresh linens, great views, and a decent breakfast - all as mentioned by other reviewers. However, the one thing previous reviewers failed to mention was the local mosque next door and the fact that the Alp does not have "double glazed" windows that help seal out the sound. In the summer time, this means guests are treated to a 4:40am wake up call that is literally like having someone yell in your ear with a loudspeaker, esp if you are on that side of the building. When booking, I would...

great hotel
from buster24Scotland
my husband and i stayed in this little hotel for nearly a month in january 2007, while i was having treatment at one of the hospitals there. The staff were amazing and could not do enought to help us, the rooms were clean and some had amazing views of the bosphoros. All the the places you would like to visit are within walking distance. The ladies who cleaned and cooked the great breakfast were just wondeful, they never spoke a work of english and i can not speak a word of turkish but we communicated well. when we left there were alot...

Stayed a week
from archhero
My wife and I just stayed at the Alp for about a week. It's a great hotel located next to everything. The rooms are very clean and the rooftop view is amazing. If you haven't been to Istanbul, keep in mind the rooms can be very small. The Alp is no different but the rooms are very cute and a great value for the money. The manager, Eren, is very friendly and knows how to run a hotel. Whatever you need just ask him and he can take care of it. We'll for sure be staying there again.
Love the Alp!
from luckystar1
I travelled in mid-May with a group of 3 girls. So, there's 4 girls all together. The hotel is ideally located. Just a few minutes walk away from the major sites, such as Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, Basillica Cistern, and the Sultanahment Tram station. I couldn't have asked for a better hotel with a better location. There were lots of restaurants and quite a few narghile places nearby. There's also a grocery store nearby, which was great for a water run right before you get back to the hotel. And, most importantly,...

Fantastic hotel
from bushyboy
I organised a small party of 6 (4 singles and one couple) to travel to Istanbul for the MotoGp and booked this hotel having read the reviews on TripAdvisor. To say that we were pleasantly surprised would be a major understatement. Firstly the position, hotels frequently state (inaccurately) that they are 'minutes walk from all major attractions' well in this case the Alp is genuinely definitely in that category. The Blue Mosque, the Cistern, Aghia Sofia mosque and the Topkapi Palace are all within an easy ten minute walk through the old...

Clean and Quiet
from Loulouyi
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Alp Hotel for 5 nights last August. Located on a small and quiet side street in the Old City, it is only steps away from tourist attractions (Blue Mosque/Haya Sophia). More importantly, it is in an area with dozens of other hotels (Akbiyik Caddesi), making it very safe at night for tourists (there are always people having tea on Akbiyik, and small convinience stores). We stayed on the top floor (our room was upgraded from a double to a triple for free!). Our room was very clean, the beds were very...
