Hotel Agan

We spent 5 days at Hotel Agan in March. The place was undergoing renovations, with some new shower stalls in the bathrooms rather than the "all in one" shower-baths that have been mentioned in other posts. The people at the desk were all very helpful, and the internet connection at two computers in the lobby was readily available. The rooms were clean, and supplies of shampoo, soap, and other amenities (including paper slippers) were replenished daily. hotel was nice and in really good place near everything. Staff and especially the boss was friendly and helpfull. Rooms were small but clean.

We chose Hotel Agan, because we were looking for a cheap place, where maybe the hotelroom wasnt a honneymoonsuite, but where the room was at least clean, cosy with everything working and the staff friendly. We got exactly what we were looking for and more! The people at the reception and restaurant were amazingly friendly and helpful in every way. Good location. Possibilities for nice walks. Nothing bad to tell about this hotel actually. We strongly recommend.

Istanbul is one of the best cities in the world and a great bargain. I got my room at a great price and enjoyed my two weeks stay very much. The staff is kind and helpful. The location is convenient.

Hotel Aghan in Istanbul is a cozy place with a very friendly and kind employees who make a nice and personal atmosphere in the hotel for their guests. The rooms are a bit small but cozy and the location is just fantastic, close to most of tourists attractions so that you do not need to pay extra for taxi or other transportation. What I liked the most in the hotel was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff in the hotel. I spedt very, very good holidays in this hotel..Staff were exellent, rooms very clean, brekfast good...I advise stay at this hotel..

Pros: great price, friendly and helpful staff, lots of fun sitting on big poofy cushions in front of hotel, free internet, lots of amenities such as bath supplies and safe deposit boxes, within easy walking distance to major tourist attractions. Cons: small, old and tired without any funky fun factor, very small room, average breakfast, streets not marked which made the hotel a bit difficult to find. Great location, mediocre hotel. Rooms are small, but clean. The reception is okay. They helped us book the bus tickets to Cappadocia.

We stayed for 5 nights before heading off to Cappadocia. It was okay. "Cheap (well, not that cheap but it's Istanbul) and cheerful". For "better the devil you know" reasons we booked 2 nights for on our way back before flying home. When we arrived at around midnight they'd filled our room leaving us with nowhere to stay, despite our names being written as clear as day in their diary (we'd informed TWO staff of our return and they'd written it down in the diary). Had a great time in Istanbul, we stayed at Hotel Agan for 7 days in June 08 and were quite happy with our experience. The rooms were clean and the sound proof windows helped a lot, especially because they're building an underground tunnel station across the building from the hotel and they had construction going for 24 hours non-stop. Because of these windows, we didn't hear that or the prayer calls at all at night.
