Shoe String Cave Pension

The pension is very inexpensive and very basic. We stayed in a cave room, which seemed romantic, but it was actually quite dark and depressing, especially with a couple of missing lights. We were glad to have a headlamp and book light to help us see in our room! But we weren't in Turkey to hang out in a cave. Overall, the atmosphere is why to stay at Shoe String. There are several great things about Shoestring including: 1) Free bus terminal pick-up/drop-off. I am a solo traveller, paid 20YTL for a double bed cave room with bath attach. Clean, nice and comfortable. The staffs were all very friendly and helpful. After check out, if you still have a long waiting time, you can still use there common area to rest, surf the internet for free, and bath too. To reach the cave, go to the information center just a few steps aways from the Goreme Otogar. The staff at the center will be able to ring them to pick you up from there.

The rooms were all caves, with different size and ambience. We got a private double for $10 per person. The cave walls were whitewashed with limestone and the floor was wooden. The room was small with two twin beds which we pushed together. Everything was clean, including the linens. It was great to have our own space, so that we could leave stuff about and not have to pack up daily. The bath facilities are shared, but reasonable.
