Golden Horn Sultanahmet Hotel

I was there during a one day Food Conference in Istanbul. I stayed there for 3 nights 4 days, it is worth it to stay at that hotel not only for its good service and reasonable price but also for the view it has at its terrace. Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque and Marmara Sea all together can be seen at once and enjoyed during breakfast or any other time. Bahadır Sezegen

The bosphorus and ald city view of axcellent.The intenior design of hotel and rooms as well.. The buffet breakfast is comprehensive and well prepared. The location is very convenient for the shops and restaurants. A good-value hotel for a holiday break....

Although I stayed only one night in this hotel, I really enjoyed it! The breakfast restaurant on the roof is worth to mention. The view to the Blue Mosque and Agiasofia is just stunning! And you get a wide range of breakfast buffet: different warm food and also Turkish specialities! The room was quite large, very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to be very close to all nice sites in Istanbul.

My wife and I reserved a "large" double with a view of Aghia Sofia for one week in the beginning of January 2007. Upon arrival, we were given a tiny room with no view. I immediately complained and they said that while sorry, they were supposedly full. The next day we were given a choice of three rooms and took a large room with a magnificent view. We went sightseeing that day and the next, When we returned that evening we were told that they were closing the hotel for "unexpected" renovations and we would have to move to their sister... more

We just spent a week at the Goldenhorn Sultanahmet, and definitely would not want to stay anywhere else on our next trip to Istanbul. We were granted the room 410 that has probably the BEST view you can get: St Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi, AND the Bosphorus bridge... Simply Gorgeous !!!! The rooms were extra clean, and not noisy at all. The personnel was also very nice and helpful. If you cannot get a room in it, go there and ask them if you can spend a minute on the roof terrasse at sunset (prayer time), to hear the Muezzin... more

We ended up here because we unexpectedly came back to Istanbul between visits to other cities, and our preferred hotel was fully booked. This one is just across from our favourite the Nena Hotel, but that is all they have in common. All the staff were grumpy and unhelpful, which was such a contrast to nena and the other hotels in other cities we visited in Turkey. The rooms are small and in desperate need of updating. Breakfast is in a windowless basement, and the roof terrace is only for those who want to pay extra for drinks or food, again... more

I loved the hotel for the views from the roof alone. We got an ISIC discount, meaning 60% off this four-star hotel, but were given a tiny room. It looked nothing like the pictures on the website, but the price was right for the proximity to all sites in Sultanahmet. The views from the roof are AMAZING, allowing me to fantasic pictures. I emailed the hotel, and they said they underwent complete renovations and re-opened March 1. I plan to stay there again, even with a tiny room, this fall, just to be near my beloved Haghia Sophia.

We had a horrible experience with this hotel. We booked the hotel through their website. In about a day or two, they sent us a "confirmation" about our booking, by a guy signed as "Murat Ka". When we arrived there in a late evening and to our big surprise - the hotel was completely abandoned and dark. Then some folks in the parking lot suggested that we should go to "Golden Horn" hotel, which is about a mile away. We virtually had no choice as it was near midnight. Good and clean hotel. Secure inside staying as it neighbors to the City Courts and offers free safe box. The personel is kind and ready to serve. The hotel is very close to any of the best touristic sites of the Old City. The best room is the 309, with great view of the Sultanahmet Camii, Agia Sofia Orthodox Church and Bosporus. 209 is also a very good room. During the day, the area is full of tourists, but not in front of the hotel, which is very quit. But during the night is best to take a taxi (important: called by the hotel's personel)... more
