Galata Antique Hotel

Excellent value for money. Especially our room on third floor, where we had a view of the city. Very picturesque, romantic, warm atmosphere. Located in a central point of the city, near Tunel (the small, old subway of Istanbul) and Istiklal street.. Very clean also. The staff need some improvement with their english, and the breakfast could be better, but ok... I absolutely recommend it!

Showed up without a reservation, and was shown two rooms, for 69 euros and 84 euros, both on the 5th floor. The 84 euro room was a corner, with three large windows, with city and sea views. The 69 euro room was smaller, with one window, overlooking a building about to be torn down and looking quite the eyesore. (We could also see it from the 84 euro room. Booked a five night stay with hotel directly on hotel website. Thankfully received complimentary pickup from airport to hotel. This newly renovated hotel was beautiful and comfortable. Hotel is in city center and also close to old city Sultanahmet. Staff are very friendly, and rooms were very nice and exceptionally clean, room service was provided every day. I stayed at the Galata Antique for 4 nights, leaving 2 December. I was a little concerned after reading the comments about no hot water so I wanted to let folks know that I had hot water all the time. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the location is really excellent between Taksim and Sultanmet. It only takes about 20-30 minutes to walk to the big mosques from the hotel and by doing that you get to walk across the Galata bridge. What a view! I am a regular customer of this cosy boutique hotel since 2004 and i feel like i came to my home when i enter the hotel. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the rooms are always clean. The location is just perfect, in the center of everything but also quiet and charming. i adore walking through the unique istiklal street and the cafés of tunel. i never consider any other options but this affordable family hotel.

My wife and i stayed for 4 days at Hotel Galata Antique. We have booked the hotel over the internet and we were pleased that it was a good experience. I'm really torn about whether to give the Galata 3 or 4 stars. I decided for the 3 because breakfast was only 'ok' - not hot foods or yoghurt and the shower was a big bummer for me. The luke warm shower the first day came with the explanation that the hotel was full. I didn't even bother with a question on the 2nd day when it was cold; we left for Cappadocia and didn't return. We spent three nights in early May, 2006 and had rented out two rooms #301 and #302 and had a mixed experience. The rooms were small by US Standards but very adequate. Both rooms were clean. The heating did not work in Rm. 302 and it was quite chilly at night. There was no hot water at any time of the day....the best it got was less than likewarm. The shower in Rm 302 had an opening that was literrally only 12 inches wide....I, at 160 lbs had to pull my tummy in and and slowly squeeze my way in and out sideways...the other room did not have... more

We spend 4 days in this lovely small hotel and we would like to recommend the Galata Antique Hotel to anyone thinking of traveling to Turkey. We booked directly from their web site (price was good and they have discount on cash payments). The location is perfect. Just a few steps away from Istiklal street. There are a number of pleasant restaurants nearby. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. All of the staff were charming, helpful and spoke English. If we ever return to Istanbul we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed about a week at Hotel Galata Antique, the staff was friendly and the hotel was sympathic. The owners are two sisters and they help a lot if you are new to Istanbul. The famous pedestrian street Istiklal is very close - you can see it from window - you can find lots of good stuff and discover nice cafés along your way.
