Faros Hotel Istanbul

This is a great hotel. The beds were comfortable and the tv had some english programming. The air conditioner worked and the bath facilities were comfortable enough. Though our room was a little on the small side (it faced towards the back) we didn't mind since we only used the room at night to just get some shuteye - we were sightseeing all day! Fantastic location for some of the main sights - just a few minutes walk from the Hagia Sophia/Ayasofya, Blue Mosque, the Bascilica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar. The tramway runs in front of the hotel, with the nearest stop (Sultanahmet) just down the hill - this takes you down to the docks and across the Galata Bridge in no time at all. Stayed at Faros for 6 nights. Original room was small with no view but we were moved immediately when we complained to a big room with a view of sorts. 5 minute walk to The Aghia Sophia and Blue mosque. Restaurant/ Bar attached to hotel very popular and friendly staff with good English compared to other places. Hotel staff were helpful where posible but limited English. But then I don't speak any turkish. Rooms are very clean and linen changed every day. I would stay here again.

I would like to thank everyone at the Faros for a great time spent there. I stayed at the Faros for 10 nights and enjoyed every moment of it. Reading some of the reviews regarding the unpolite staff I MUST SAY THAT I FOUND ALL TO BE pleasent and helpfull in every way. Me and my friend, we stayed in Faros Hotel for 6 days in November 2006, and had quite a nice experience. Pros: Rooms: the room was cleaned everyday, which is cool. They changed the bedclothes also. rooms was smaller then appear on photo. staff was very, very, very unpolite, ignorant and not ready to help their customers. there were promised free transfer from airport wich didn't came. instead of booked suite room they wanted to give us just double room. also the room was not clean when we arrived..

The hotel was great and I would stay there again. Big rooms, easy access to tourist sites and a great hotel to have if you want to stay inside for a day and relax. I'm tempted to give it a 4/5 but when I consider that we paid 75EUR per night I have to say it is excellent value for the money, so i give it 5/5. we arrived at the hotel to find that we had a twin room and not double as requested in the booking. This hotel is in the perfect location for the historic part of the city, everything within walking distance. There is a tram stop outside the door and great for catching taxis. The family rooms are spacious and light but the twin room was very small and dark. Kept very clean but you could smell cigarette smoke as with a lot of small European hotels. There is only one restaurant and breakfast is limited especially after 8 days, but the regular menu for lunch and dinner was fine. Staff very friendly and helpful at all times. We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed two nights at Hotel Faros in Istanbul in October 2006. The hotel is fairly new, our room was clean and very tastefully decorated - if rather cramped. The rooms seem to vary quite a bit when it comes to size and shape. The room had two comfy beds, a small table and chair, and a narrow work desk.
