cant rate the apartments and staff highly enough.
rooms were spotless and regularly cleaned.
pool side DJ was top notch and created a friendly and fun atmosphere.
though at top of the hill, your hardly noticed the climb back up after a few shandys.
if your a stag, hen or just a lads n lasses away day this is the ideal venue for you.

As the title says, the bar staff were incredible, couldnt fault them, the hotel building was magnificant, the pool was excellent despite the DJ having the musical variety of a homeless bloke and a broken recorder, but... In one week 300 euros and £100 went missing, 200 0f... more

Nice Apartments, shame about the trash that stays there.
We arrived late saturday / early sunday but they wouldn't let us in because of a "problem" My wife and I were then dumped in another apartment complex for the night. Next day we were allowed a room after 13.00 The problem was that a "stag party" had trashed a couple of rooms, kicked down doors, left the water running and flooded the place! anyway, the apartment was really nice, and had all the facilities. 1st, night, our door was "battered" twice within 15 minutes, at about 4.30 in the morning. At 6.15 the same morning our next door "neighbours" crashed into their room, shouted at people in the street from their balcony, then put on music as loud as possible. We complained to management - and nothing! 2nd. night, same scenario as the night before - but next door came in at 5.15, then went through the same routine as before. We complained to management again - and nothing! Day, 3. About a group of 20 geordies on a stag do arrived in the afternoon, took over the jacuzzi, pool, and everything else. That afternoon about 4.30pm. while my wife was taking a shower and I was relaxing on the balcony, the door got "battered" again! Opened it, and there was all these geordies milling about in the corridor - shouting at there mates etc. We complained to management (does this sound familiar?) - again, nada! Later that evening we moved to the Hotel Samos for some peace and quiet for our remaining three days. It cost us another 165 eouros, but was worth it for. If you don't mind staying in a zoo then you won't mind staying in the Sotavento - me, - I would never, ever, ever, go back to that place!!
nice and close to the action!
stayed here in 2006 before the renovations-there was 4 girls in one apartment but it was so small i wish we had paid the extra and got 2 rooms!!is at the top of a hill but is soooo close to the action its worth climbing it!pool is an ok size with a pool bar and the restrant did lovely food when i stayed.even though its not on the strip it is a noisy hotel full of young people so if your looking for a quite hotel this prob isnt the one for you!
Barnsley lads stag do
myself and eight friends stayed at the sotavento for a weekend in september on a stag do. The hotel is a good base for stag and hen parties.Great location, nice pool bar, basic but clean rooms, good pool and a great jacuzzi. The staff were friendly and the so called "cardiac hill" was no way as steep as I imagined it to be.All in all the hotel was great for a stag or hen party. We had a great time and I would just like to say a big hello to the lasses from hull, top totty-especially the school-girl uniforms.
Sotavento, Maguluf
Stayed here for a short break end of July. A group of 4 girls 23-36. Rooms were ok, Maid service only came round once, our balcony looked on to a hotel opposite, pool was nice but limited sunbeds. Played the same music every day at the pool got really annoying! The hotel was a Twentys hotel. Therefore lots of young boys getting drunk In the day and chucking 1 another in. Watch the Twenties reps 1 of them a girl chucks herself on every bloke there! The surroundings reception was clean nice and bright. The hill is hardwork! Personally I’m glad we only did a weekend as wouldn’t of been able to cope with that all week. It is really steep had to wear flip flops and flat shoes even at night which was a shame. The location is about 10 mins from pubs/clubs BCM square about 15 min walk. BCM is amazing went when DJ Sammy was on and a water party. It’s about 15 pound includes free gifts and drinks included. Bannans and Boomerang are fab too. There was limited places to eat you have about 5 places! If you like something to do in the day then you’re a bit stuck as there is about 10 shops at the most. The beach is nice once you got there (at least 100 steps downhill to get to it) Hardwork on the way back you just feel like passing out! Before I went I was expecting it to be busier with loads of parties, only seen a couple. Ratio of men to women I would say was equal maybe a few more ladies. We did have a fab time would def go back but don’t think I would stay at Sotavento again.
Excellent!
A great base for young groups/couples! Stag parties, hen nights etc. Certainly not a place for children! We were a group of 10 girls all of varying ages. (From 26 to 50!) We booked a bargain 4 day break and after reading varying reviews we weren't expecting the Ritz! on arrival it was clear that the hotel had recently been decorated as it was very different from the picture's we looked at. We were very impressed CHECK IN was good, quick and efficient. REMEMBER your 80 euro deposit for your room. This is standard regardless of the number of people per room. We paid for our safety deposit box on check in. Can't remember the cost but it was reasonable. ROOMS/FACILITIES. Rooms were decorated beautifully, with bright colours and were plenty big enough for 4 people. Most importantly they were spotlessly clean. We did no cooking during our stay, however they were equipped enough to if you so wish! The bar had a good selection at reasonable prices. Good starting point before heading out on the town! We ate in the restaurant once at lunchtime, great value for a snack. The shop was good, reasonable prices, has everything you need. All of the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Overall we had a fantastic 4 days at a great hotel! If we go back to Magaluf we will go back to the Sotavento for sure. I would certainly recommend this hotel to people.
Pleasently surprised
Myself and 23 girlfriends stayed at The Sotavento for a joint hen weekend. After reding some reviews which made the Apartments sound OK for the money we decided they were the ones for us. The bar/pool/reception area have just been refurbished and the room are clean and spacious. The food in the restraunt was not the best but that can be said for the whole of Magaluf, not one nice meal in the 3 days we were there. These apartments are perfect for 20's-30's who want a good time but also a decent place to stay. Oh and the 'hill' is not as bad as people make out, it would not put me off staying there again.
Even the Oldies had a good time here
After reading other review's we were worried about ''The Hill''!!!!!!!! Yes it is a bit steep, Yes you are shattered when you get to the top, YES it is worth it, and YES it does get easier. We are 49 & 66 yrs old and had a fantastic time, the apartments are a good size, cleaned every other day with towels and clean sheets a plenty. The staff were so friendly, ordered taxi's for us to go to the casino, and the pirates( they said to taxi there and walk back when you've had a few) great advice. If you dont want to go onto the strip its a 5 min walk to Son Mateus area which joins onto Palma Nova, great beaches and restaurants in Magaluff We will definatley be going back again
it was worth the hill
just stayed five nights at the sotavento in magaluf the rooms ere clean and spacious the pool is excellent reception helpfull and freindly . the bar areas are very good with a great selection of quality drinks at reasonable prices there is also a very good snack menu it was worth the climb up the hill to get there
Class Holiday
If go to Magaluf I recommend that you stay at the Sotavento Apartments. I went with five of my mates and we loved every minute of it. We read a few reviews beforehand and we didn't know what to expect . The rooms were clean and fairly big, request a room on the 3rd floor with pool view. Rooms had a small kitchen area and the air con is a must, no extra cost. There is a steep hill to the hotel but trust me it's nothing to worry about, especially after a few drinks!! The hotel is 2mins away from the main strip and beach. Majority of staff were friendly, security guard on a night was a bit of a character, but what you expect at 6 in the morning. The food was tasty from the bar and we ate there most days. The pool is an ok size, sorts out that hangover. Nice just to chill around the pool during the day with a few more and drinks, get's you in the mood for later on. From being a small complex you get to know most people, we met a great bunch of lads from Crewe. These apartments would me a nightmare for family's with young kids, however out of season may be ok. If I was to return to Magaluf I would definaltely stay at the Sotavento.
Best Holiday Ever
We had read many reviews about Sotavento before we got there, but nothing anyone ever says ever makes a difference to us scousers anyway, so we arrived with an open mind. Firstly, to begin my review in a way so you will know my true opinion of Sotavento, I will let you into a secret, we are all returning to Sotavento next year. The hotel is so clean everywhere. Even the apartments are spotless, none of this shabby lark you usually get. Yes, the rooms are quite basic, but it's not 5* is it. Not too basic to live in though I will add, we cooked quite fine and we cooked meals for 8 every night on the cookers. The pool is small, but nicely small. I mean, you wouldn't want to shout to all the other guests. Due to the hotel only having a small number of rooms, we got really close to everybody there and enjoyed the das at the pool. The bar is cheap, (try the chocolate milk), and the food is excellent. we ate there every morning. The staff are very friendly also. We lost all of our keys over the 10 days and so had to be let into are room a total of 9 times one day, but it was all with a cheeky smile. The location is excellent. Yes, it is at the top of a hill, which is quite steep, but just think of your bum muscles. and to be honest you don't even notice it after a while. The hill made it perfect. Not noisy because randomers wouldn't walk up the hill past the apartment for no reason, so the only people going past where the people in the hotels up there. Less than 1 mins walk to the beach and The Strip (the centre). Ideal. All in all, 10 ot of 10. Can't wait to go bac nbxt year!!!!
