wonderful view of the Marmara
Had a wonderful stay at the hotel. My room faced the Marmara sea and the view was fantastic. The room was always clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Would stay again if I visit Istanbul
Decent Hotel for the Money
Decent budget hotel, would stay there again. Excellent location, only about a 10-15 minute walk from the major sights. Neighborhood looks a bit worn (derelict homes with some undergoing renovation), but didn’t feel unsafe. Can catch the train from the airport (1.40 Turkish Lira), transfer in Zeitunburno to the Metro (1.40 Turkish Lira) and get off at Sultanhamet to make your way to the hotel, alternative cheapest fare was 30EU. Pretty much any public transportation, whether ferry, train or bus is either 1.40 or 1.50 TLira. Get a good map... more
Clean, Friendly, Great Value Hotel
Used the hotel's reliable pick-up service to collect us from the airport. The staff - with reception open 24 hours a day - were always helpful and polite. Our room had a street view, nice and quiet. The room itself adequate-sized and very clean, and continued to be cleaned every day of our 7-day stay. It also had GREAT AIR CONDITIONING! As for location, it's exactly what we wanted - away from the busy streets, but just a few minutes walk away from the Blue Mosque etc. The only criticisms were the occasionally poor breakfast... more
Good location - clean and basic
I don't know why anybody chooses to stay across the Bosphorus in Taksim when they can choose a boutique hotel in Sultanahmet. Stretches of Roman wall all around you, relaxed cafes and the oldest mosques. The back streets behind the Blue Mosque are where you should set up your base to explore. There are several wooden Ottoman buildings converted to hotels and this is one of them. The prices are cheap and the rooms are clean. But do not get a room on the ground floor - the hotel is small and you hear every conversation in reception.... more
Excellent value for money
My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel late february and for the price we paid we thought we got exactly what we were looking for: a well located, inexpensive place to stay in order to visit Istanbul. The rooms are clean and fairly sized. The staff is very helpful and the few problems we had (ants in our room for example) were quickly sorted in an efficient way. Breakfast was actually bit better than we expected, and we had a choice between cereals, jams, breads...The lady who takes care of breaky is very accomodating as well and... more
Good place to stay
We stayed at Deniz Konak mostly because we had run out of other options - everything else seemed to be booked out. However, I've no regrets that we did. The rooms were clean, quaint and quiet. Breakfast wasn't spectacular, but it was sufficient, and included in the price of the room. Staff were pretty helpful and friendly.
good little hotel at a great price
We too got the sister hotel shuffle to the Deniz Konak. It seems this is the norm for the area. Take the booking then use the sister hotels. They aint all owned by the same co. (one hotelier was less than happy with the other and had to check for rooms) We have now stayed in 4 hotels in the Sultanamet area. We were really quite pleased with the Deniz Konak and the people there. The breakfast area didnt have the killer views of some of the others but was a good one all the same. (Ocean views) The food was the typical cereal, eggs,... more
very friendly staff
My boyfriend and i have just returned from a trip to Istanbul. We booked a room in Sultan's Inn but when we arrived we were told that we were in the other hotel- Deniz Konak. the hotel is small but clean. The rooms are small (we had room 7) and the bathroom has just a shower. The main problems with the room were the fact that the plaster kept falling off the walls and if you stood on it you knew about it! (This is because it is meant to look like a traditional Turkish house not because it is in bad repair!.) The other problem was noise.... more
Lovely View with Trains Running Late Into the Night
We were sent to the Deniz Konak after their sister hotel, the Naz Wooden House sent us here citing not enough water at Naz given a water shortage in the city and reserve water tanks at the Deniz Konak. They said that this was an "upgrade" from our room at the Naz and after waiting for a half hour in the lobby of the Naz a taxi took us the three blocks to the Deniz where we waited for another 45 minutes before being shown our room. They were apparently cleaning it and getting it ready. When we did get there, it appeared fairly clean but the... more
Good Value for Price
Actually this hotel is owned by the same superb management of Sultan Inn and Naz Wooden House Inn, so they are keeping the same standards of cleanliness and good management. It is just two blocks behind Sultan Inn. The location is superb for anyone wishing to enjoy the touristic sites of Istanbul (Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, the Arazta Market, Topkapi, The Archeology Museum, The Turkish and Islamic Museum (Ibrahim Pasha)), or even the bit further, the Gran Bazar, and the Sulemanyeh Mosque, or across the Galata Bridge (take the tram... more
