BW Citadel perfect location.
04NOV - 11NOV 6nts This was my first visit to Istanbul. I enjoyed my visit so much I booked another during February 2009 w/ three travel companions. I was to stay at a B&B in the Sultanahmet during my original visit but I changed my mind and decided to book a hotel room instead. I believe I chose the Best Western Citadel because it seemed to be a good value. I made a great decision. The BW Citadel was ideal as a home base. Exiting the rear of the hotel you’re in the Cankurtaran area with the major tourist sites minutes away by foot... more
Best Western & Eastern !!!
I spent a lovely whole week with my wife and child ... Very nice view of the sea, the hotel is 10 minutes walk from everything you need : Aya Sofia, Blue mosque, grand bazar, and the tram station. The hotel is very clean, all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, room service was great and quick. Information on Istanbul was readily available at the reception desk.
Excellent hotel
We just came back from a beautful weekend spent in Hotel Citadel. I can recommend the hotel to everybody, as it is very clean, nicely decorated and has a very good location. It is located at the big road directly at the Marmara sea. The road itself has much traffic, but the windows of the rooms are so good isolated that you cannot hear much of it if the windows are closed. The view from the rooms facing to the sea are so nice, that I would recommend to everybody to pay the extra charges for the sea view rooms. The hotel staff was... more
Nice view of the sea
I was stranded in Istanbul, and I remembered there was a Best Western on this one road by the sea and toward the airport. I had the taxi driver stop. There was a trainee that was trying to mess around with the price, but the manager took care of the sitution immediately. No other problems. The room was nice, and had an in-room safe, wireless, flat screen TVs, and could book tours. Bathrooms were very clean. I had a room toward the back, and one night a local resturant had a special event. Otherwise, I couldnt hear too much... more
Terrific value for money.
We only had 1 night here, and it was pretty good. Very good value for money -- certainly so compared to the other Istanbul hotel we stayed in (the Tashkonak -- suggest avoiding there). Rooms are well appointed with satellite TV, modern bathrooms, and comfortable beds. Small rooms, be warned. Walking distance to key sights - but no shortage of Sultanamet hotels offer that. We were there on the night of some dance show they put on weekly -- it was noisy, and didn't stop until midnight. So, if you're a light sleeper, I... more
Good room, location, service
I was in Istanbul during the weekend of the Forumula1 race, and as such, all the hotels had jacked up their rates. The megachains were charging €400+ a night, too rich for even a corporate travel budget. I sought out something simpler for the weekend, and ended up at the Citadel for €140 (double their normal rate, I believe). Still, that rate included breakfast, free wi-fi, and a room with a Bosphorous view. The location in Sultanhamet was excellent, with the Ayasofia, Blue Mosque, and tram line less than ten minutes walking distance.... more
Wow !!!
The hotel staff I found to be frıendly and very helpfull. Receptıon staff could be more frıendly. Thıs hotel ıs sıtuated on a very busy street, but absolutely no noıse ınsıde unless off course you leave a wındow open. Beautıfull vıew of the sea from the room we stayed ın and also nıce bıg balcony. Beautıfull hotel nıce and clean.
Beautiful hotel by the sea!
My solo trip to Greece was cut short due to poor weather, so I decided to take a train to Istanbul instead. I hadn't done any research before I left, and made a quick booking online via Expedia for this hotel in Istanbul. My expectations were quite limited as I only paid $50 (!) a night, but once I arrived, I was amazed. The hotel is located near the edge of the Sultanhamyet district, which is about a 15 minute (steep) walk to the top. The included continental breakfast is delicious and their dinner selection is also very good. The... more
Both thumbs up!
I thought it was gonna be a nightmare when told our room had been flooded on arrival. HOWEVER, the front desk staff was very professional and courteous. We were accomodated in a more expensive hotel making a potential disaster very tolerable. I don't know if it was this flood issue...but the next two days stay was excellent! The next morning we were taxi'd back without problems, our room faced the sea, had a spacious patio, plenty of sunlight. Our room was actually more spacious than expected(from online reading). ~24"Flat screen TV,... more
Very Nice!!!
This small hotel (31 rooms) is just simply great! The rooms are nice, particularly the top floor water side, and the location excellent for exploring the historical part of Istanbul. The restaurant's food was excellent and very inexpensive. Best of all, we found the employees very friendly and helpful. Mike
