Wonderful... Not as far out from Istanbul as you think
We had two days in the centre of Istanbul staying at the excellent TomTom suites, we then moved to the Ajia for two nights after doing most of the tourist sights. Everyone inhaled deeply when we said we were at the Ajia, saying it would take an hour to reach via taxi. The first time we went by taxi from Istanbul it did take 50 minutes but most of this time was spent trying to reach the first bridge over the Bhosphorus. The traffic getting in and out of Istanbul can be terrible. The taxi cab cost just under £20 including the bridge toll.... more
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
I read the mixed reviews before going and after being there I can see why. Catch A'Jia on a good day and you will have a fabulous stay. Catch it on a bad day and... If you decide to go, play it safe and book Monday through Thursday. Avoid the weekends. The Good: The location is great if you are there to relax as we were after seven previous days of running around Istanbul. Right on the water. Our corner room had six huge windows looking out on the Bosphorus plus another in the bath with the tub positioned in front of... more
Management response from muskudarli

Dear Robert Kostes, Greetings from A'jia Hotel. Regarding your comment , I would like to give you the following information regarding our bathrooms. Our bathroom floors are entirely made of mosaic coating. This may be the reason why the floors looked that way to you. Each bathroom commodity is uniquely selected in accordance with the contemporary design of the bathrooms and we renew our bathroom amenities frequently for improved service to our guests. Unfortunately,we haven’t received any complaint from our guest during his stay regarding the airconditioning. Had we received so, we would have dealt with it immeadiately. You are right about the room floors. We are very sensitive about this issue. Our technical department makes its routine check of the rooms quite often to spot the areas that require maintenance. Unfortunately, since your stay coincided with the period of maintenance, we had to wait for your check out. You are also very right about the music at the birthday party. Our concierge was willing to host you at a restaurant outside the hotel that night . We gave you a 50% discount for any possible complaint and discontent that were to come from you. I hope, you will accept our sincere apology for the inconveniences you experienced during your recent stay. We will love to welcome you back to A'jia Hotel. Warm Regards

PERFECT
I stayed at A'jia on May 2008 It was excellent, great front desk manager and concierge
Stylish and secluded far-off the city centre
A’jia hotel is a small, beautiful boutique hotel with only 16 rooms far up at the Asian side of Istanbul. We were two couples staying for three nights and were both upgraded to suites at arrival - room 5 and 6 - even though we had discounted room rates (200 Euros including breakfast from menus). What a bargain for spacious suites with two floors! Room 6 had a wonderful view of the Bosporus strait. Room 5 was a little more spacious with only partial view of Bosporus, but in addition also had a desk area, balcony and a bath tub on the... more
AVOID A'jia
I rated it ONE star, and unfortunately, I really mean it. I can honestly say that I have never been as disappointed with a "premium luxury" property in my life. As a note, I am a frequent international traveller, live in Santa Monica, CA, and am quite experienced with luxury stays. I struggled with rating this hotel, because I didn't want to sound reactionary and inexperienced. I can assure any reader that the rating is truly merited. On to the specifics. The only thing nice about A'jia is the decor. It is just as modern as the... more
Sublime Boutique Hotel on the Asia Side
We arrived Istanbul very late at night and found the hotel that our travel agent booked was not what expected. Remembering all the reviews we read before we set off, we contacted the Ajia directly and found availability at the last minute. It took us 45 minutes from the historical center to reach the hotel which was located on the other side of the Bosphorous. It was well worth the trip! When we arrived, we found this charming old house but the decoration inside was modern and crisp. The staff at the reception (Mr. Yuksul) was... more
Superb venue - very luxurious and top notch staff - best restaurant in town
We stayed at the Ajia over the holidays and let me tell you the service and amenities were superb. Arrived early from the airport and they gave us a room to rest in (the prior guest had not checked out yet). The accomodations are some of the best I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed at some of the best). Service was outstanding - very helpful. Very fast. The restaurant is a gem and very reasonable. We booked this location through an auction at LuxuryLink and it was a true bargain. One tip - it is located on the Asian side of... more
beautiful boutique hotel, wonderful venue for a party ...
i stayed at ajia in july 2006 to attend a friend's wedding, held at the same hotel. i've been to istanbul several times before and while i would ultimately recommend the four seasons to any one visiting (and interested in staying at a luxury hotel), if you have done that several times already, ajia is worth a try. on a nice day, ajia is simply perfect. if you stay in one of the first floor rooms/suites, the ceiling and windows are huge. the top floor rooms don't have the high ceilings but you may get a nice balcony. nothing much... more
excellent place for excellent days!!!
It was our honeymoon, that they made a very nice surprise for us, with rose leaves on the bed and shinning initials on the pillowcase... Thank you A'jia... Thank you for trying your best to make us happy for every moment...
Beautiful Hotel and Location - Incompetent Service - Overpriced
Ajia is a beautiful old Ottoman "Yali" or waterside mansion overlooking the Bosporus in Istanbul. The charm of the old building, the view and location are second to none. The interior is very nicely decorated in a modern, minimalist sort of a way. Very appealing. However, unfortunately, you should not stay there. Loud music plays all night preventing you from sleeping; room service delivers delicious food, but certainly not what you ordered; preparations for evening concerts begin early in the morning, by banging around wrought iron... more
