Nice resort, but...
We stayed at the Club Westin Regina resort, which is a decent property, but as mentioned by others, not a "Westin-style" property for those who are accustomed to such. First, the resort is not a great appearing resort from the exterior. They are in the process of remodeling the interior. Second, the resort does not have the Westin's famous "Heavenly beds." Like all resorts in Mexico, the beds are hard and boxy. We asked for foam padding to be placed on our mattress, which they did, and the bed was fine. But if you get past the exterior... more
POST HURRICANE AND CLUB REGINA ISSUES
We arrived on Friday afternoon, 28 July 2006 about 2 pm and were told no king size bed was available, even though I had booked a king. Instead, we had to take to full size beds. We later learned hotel had just opened several weeks ago, as a consequence of the hurricane. At least 2 floors not yet open, and beach was only half way in operating condition. However, rooms were nice and newly furnished. Several issues though. Club Regina is affiliated with Westin and is a time share facility. We were sought after immediately after... more
Stay somewhere else!
Stayed at the Club Regina at the Westin Cancun a month ago, and really regretted it. They did not tell me the hotel was completely shut down until right before I arrived. Only 1 pool and restaurant are opened, and they close early. There is no spa or gym facilities. The construction is often loud and obtrusive, which is not what you want on vacation at all. The location is at the far end of the lagoon, so I recommend staying somewhere in the middle or towards the other end where all of the restaurants and shops are. This resort is... more
Enjoyable, but not fully ready after Hurricane Wilma
As members of Club Regina who visited this once beautiful resort last year, it was difficult to witness the continued effects of Hurricane Wilma's devasatation, particularly to the southern end of the Cancun peninsula. Club Med next door is nowhere near close to reopening. The staff at the Westin Regina recognized that the facilities are not fully operational and that they have some ongoing problems. Prior to leaving Florida, we were called three separate times to make us aware that certain areas of the facilities were closed, updating... more
Club Regina Cancun poor service and condition
As a members of Club Regina, I was very disappointed in the Club Regina during our last stay. On the third day of our stay, the air conditioning at the resort stopped working, which made for extremely uncomfortable evenings. It was still not functioning when we left four days later. The room was not clean, and there were several problems with the room. The pools were dirty, with debris on the top and bottom, and cloudy. The hot tub was being used as the Children's Pool, with obvious consequences. We were not told that the hotel side... more
A great trip - again!
We returned from another stay at Club Regina. The Westin hotel is not yet open, but that didn't keep everyone from having a great vacation. There were 2 pools and a jacuzzi open at Club Regina, the pool bar/restaurant, store, and best of all was the beach! It is bigger than it has been in years!! We enjoyed walking down the beach towards Club Med (which is being rebuilt) and snorkeling on the reef. Everything in Cancun us just a short bus ride away for only 6.5 pesos/pp so we did spend some time shopping and enjoying some of the many... more
They are working hard to rebuild
We stayed at the Club Regina and are owners with RVC. The hotel is not open yet, but they are working on it. We enjoyed the location of this property since it is away from the noise, but just a short 65 cent bus ride into the action. The only time the bus took 20 minutes to get us to the main strip was when locals got off work around 6pm, otherwise the ride was 5-10 minutes long. A bus comes around every 2 minutes! The beach is great and reminded me a lot of Aruba. The sand is soft and bright white and the water is all shades of blue.... more
Probably won't be back
We were expecting a fancy, somewhat luxurious stay at Club Regina. We didn't get what we bargained for. We were disappointed that we didn't get an oceanview room, and when we asked if we could maybe switch rooms after someone else left, they told us to check back. We woke up early to go check, and each day they said no, even though we knew people who were leaving. We ended up spending the entire week next to a construction site. You need to pay a $50 US dollar maid fee if you want your room cleaned... including garbage removal,... more
Club Regina was WONDERFUL!
Just returned from 1 week at the Club Regina Cancun with my husband and 3 girls (8,14,16). Was very concerned because the Westin was closed and we were worried that we would be missing out on all the Westin facilities. The staff at Club Regina made sure that we enjoyed our stay every step of the way, from the inviting welcome staff to every single staff member that works at the Regina, I mean everyone! We especially loved Luis (Lobby Bar) and Axel & and all of the night staff at the Pool Bar (they helped my daughter with her Spanish... more
Nice Resort, but Time share is a rip off
The hotel is nice, but the timeshare deal "Club Regina" is a scam. We bought, and every time you turn around there is another charge. The free weeks they give you to get you into their trap are impossible to use. Also, it is cheaper to purchase one week a year on your own than to own. Also, you have to remember you are paying almost $800.00 a year for virtually nothing, in addition to the rip off price. Good luck finding a week to rent. There is never any availability. They have big crocodile tears when you sign the papers, as is they... more
