Mehmet and the staff were helpful and very concerned that we had a positive experience. Mehmet provided maps and directions for our excursions and helped us find specific destinations like book stores where we could purchase children's books. The rooms are clean,... more

Spring in Istambul
This year I spent really nice time in Istambul.I stayed in Megara Hotel. It`s situated in historical center,in Sultanahmet, just 5 minutes by walking from metro station but far from a croud of tourists. So,I could sleep well.Room was very clean and well furnished, bed`s comfortable and big enough.Bathroom was clean too.Staff`s very polite and friendly.I experienced truly Turkish hospitality. They helped me with the luggage, taxi and excursoins. The price was OK and it included free breakfast. In the morning I had my breakfast in the terrace of the hotel enjoying sea-view or looking at Blue Mosque. There`re bars and restaurants at the next streets and it isn`t a problem to go out.I think if you need a quite and nice place in the centre of Istambul this hotel`s a good choice.I felt myself like at home there. And I missed that time full of smiles and kind words.
Very good value for money
In November 2008 I stayed a couple of days at the Megara Boutique Hotel. It lies in the heart of the old town, which means that e.g. the Blue Mosk and the Aya Sofya are within easy walking distance, just as streetcar stops, money exchange, ATM, restaurants and bars. Even the Grand Bazaar is done easily by foot. The Megara Hotel is neat, clean and cosy with a roof terrace for breakfast, overlooking the Sea of Marmara and the Blue Mosk. The breakfast buffet is great with a wide choice of almost everything. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Esp. the front desk manager, Mehmet Asal, did everything he could to make his guests feel at home. Free wireless internet in the lobby. Very good value for money indeed.
LOVED IT!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Megara Boutique Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey. The location of the hotel, made it very easy for me to maneuver around the city center and it was literally a 5 min or less walk to the Blue Mosque! The hotel also offers breakfast on the terrace with a stunning view of the city. I loved the cosiness and warmth that the hotel offered as well as the attentiveness of the staff, especially from the morning and night shift managers. Both of which made the extra effort to make my stay a memorable one! Thanks again!
Boutique? I don't think so!
I travel Istanbul almost twice a year. I usually stay in Sultanahmet area. I spent 4 days in this hotel unfortunatelly it wasn't a good experience! My room was on the 1st floor, just by the lift. It had a very small window. Room is facing another building. There is only 50 cm gap between buildings. No Day light, No A/C... There is serious noise issue. From your bed you can here lift, people going up & down the roof. The room I had was very dark and small. I am not going to stay there again or recommend to anyone else However Reception staff was very friendly..
Boutique?
We were really looking forward to staying at the Megara on the basis of the quite complimentary reviews in Tripadvisor. Unfortunately, upon arriving at the hotel, the surrounding area was semi-derelict, with a part demolished house opposite with rubble and a smashed WC laying around! The check-in was friendly, with an extremely affectionate siamese cat chasing into our room with us. The room was small, but clean, the bathroom was awful - small, badly fitted, the shower having to be turned off every few minutes to avoid flooding and an electric fan in the shower cubicle almost in line with the water flow! There were only 'dummy' curtains on the window, so it was light from the early hours interfering with sleep - but allowing a good view of the derelict house and smashed WC over the road! Breakfast wasok. In all, it was almost ok - friendly and reasonably located - if you can deal with a major hill climb to the tourist areas, and didn't get electrocuted by the shower!
Stayed here twice
We've stayed here twice. The first time was in a double room, which was spacious and comfortable. We didn't mind that it was below the street as it blocked a little of the sound from the call to prayer. The second time however was in a triple. The triple was on the same level as the rooftop terrace. The room was smaller than our double. There was no room to put the luggage for the three people, as the third bed completely blocked the closet. The walk way was narrow to the room. The price is good for the area though if your room is big enough.
Somewhat disappointed
The rooftop restaurant had a very good view. Unfortunately the room had no view whatever.. Location was quite good, near to the various tourist sites. Due to an accident we were a day late in arrivig for our four day stay. Despite ringing the hotel to advise of this, we were disappointed to find that we still had to pay in full for the day we missed. So overall, we were somewhat disappointed with the total experience.
Enjoyed our stay
We enjoyed our stay at the Megara Boutique Hotel. Our room was facing the street on the second floor, so we heard a lot of the street noise at night. We really enjoyed the view from the terrace. The room was small, but nice. The staff was helpful.
Outstanding Mood, Setting, Space
I cannot overstate what a pleasant hotel this is, incorporating every element the traveler seeks in a small boutique lodging. The management is lovely and accomodating. The lobby, restaurant, rooms, and rooftop terrace are extremely upscale and engaging. The place is spotlessly clean and secure. The location is ideal---walk to everything. I cannot remember ever being more satisfied.
Heterosexual Couple
Nice place, really quiet at night, nice rooftop terrace. the room was on the small side, the bathroom was especially tiny but clean so i guess that's all that really matters. overall we'd recommend it.
