Great Design Hotel With Amazing Views
from Digbyzinho
I spent some weeks on this hotel and I can assure that it is a perfect location to explore Istanbul. Just in the corner is Istiklal Caddesi, a pedestrian street with the best stores in town (and many restaurants all over beyoglu district). Taksim Square is 2km far, its a walking distance but you can take a cable car if you prefer. Galata Tower is 500 ms away from Marmara and from there you can walk downhill to the fish market, take a boat to Eminonu (or take a nice trip to the Bosphorus villages) or take a tram to Sulthanhamet (with all the...

Great rooftop view!
from GMOMSTER
I took a Road Scholar tour to Istanbul and they booked the hotel. We were a group of 20 but the hotel does book large tour groups such as Grand Circle. One morning people had trouble finding tables at breakfast. I enjoyed my stay and the room was very modern (think West Elm furnishings). Bathroom was a bit small but there were plenty of towels and toiletries. It was nice to have windows that opened as weather was warm but not warm enough for airconditioning. Food in the restaurant was very good (had one dinner and breakfast...

Good hotel big problem was AC
from bjorkebo73
Location is nice in Tünel less than 5 min walk to Istikal street. Lobby is average and service is also average. Breakfast is 18 euro for an open buffe which was not worth the price. The hotel made a recommendation for a restaurant that was really lousy both me and my friend found the food very poor. We both enjoy turkish food immensely but they failed even making lambchops and rice... The big positive about this hotel is the roof bar which has a fantastic view over Istanbul, Bosphourous and Sultanamet. Mikla the restaurant in the hotel is...

Boutique hotel with fantastic view of Istanbul skyline at night
from LyonZ
I stayed here recently for one night and enjoyed the stay very much. Although the location is not easy to get to by public transportation (I was traveling with a group and had a shuttle bus drop me off), the overall quality of the room and the facilities impressed me greatly. The hotel is located on one of the cliffs just off of the main shopping and nightlife street in the Beyoglu area; for that reason alone it's worth it to stay here. You will never have trouble finding a place to shop or to eat at (shops were open for dinner even...

One to remember
from BelgoNederAmi
The Marmara Pera is a great hotel for those visiting Istanbul. I spent two nights here in March 2007, in a room on the 14th floor. The size of the room was acceptable: I felt neither cramped nor lost. The colour scheme was contemporary and pleasant (purple, cream and dark wood), particularly in the bathroom, which had interesting mirror effects. One small negative detail: I had no toilet brush in my bathroom ... it's great to have maid service, but if you're sharing a bathroom, you want to be courteous to the others... The bed was very...

Marmara Pera- small rooms, no airconditioning
from conversationist
We stayed at the Marmara Pera for one night before joining a formal tour of Turkey. We wanted to see the newer side of Istanbul before moving to the historic quarter. We reserved the hotel using a web site offering greatly discounted rates. We still paid to much for the quality of the hotel, services, facilities and room. The hotel looks so new and modern in the pictures on the web site. In fact it was built around 1970 and has a real 70s look. The lobby is real small and the check in area seemed more like a motel than a major City...

Great bar
from will in sf
We did not stay at this hotel, but we did go to the bar on the top floor. The bar has one of the finest city views in the world. You look down and across the Golden Horn to the great mosques in Sultanahmet. At night, if the weather is fair, you can sit on the balcony, have a drink, and watch the gulls floating between the minarets of the Suleyman Mosque. Fabulous way to end an evening in Istanbul.
checked out
from genene
We checked out after one night and went back to where we had been staying before (the Saro Konak). Rooms are small and even thought this is a 200 room hotel we were told that all the rooms they have are in front of the lifts. If you are on holiday, stick to Sultanamet - don't bother with this side of town and unless you are happy with lift noise, sky sports in the bar and love the colour purple..........give the Marmara Pera a miss.
Cute and Clean
from UndercoverReviewer
The hotel is cute and clean. The accent color is purple in the guest rooms and they have a modern style. Rooms are small but no smaller than any other local hotel. The hotel is only a block from a pedestrian street with banks, shopping, and restaurants. I thought the buffet breakfast was just okay - eggs were very runny, and it didn't have the selection we had found at other hotels. There is a chocolate shop in the lobby. Internet access was available in the room using a cable (with help from the staff) or wireless in the restaurant area....

Marmara Pera is a find!!!!!!
from NYCshopper
Marmara Pera was recommended to us by a local travel agent. The hotel was newly renovated (last year) and is a towering hotel with 19 floors. The location of the hotel is PERFECT only one block off one of their main pedestrian streets and the views from the rooms is fantastic. We were a five minute drive from all the major attractions and we did NOT have someone calling us to prayer at 5am every morning. The rooms are small but modern and they remind me of the "W Hotels" in the USA with bright colors splashed on one wall of each room...
