Lush Hip Hotel

OK, so the rooms are small. And the street is noisy. But it really is a very cosy and romantic place to stay. You just feel at home and yet it's exotic too. I wouldn't have minded staying in our room for a whole afternoon just reading and enjoying the room itself. the hotel is very central. The only negative thing is the noisy street, so try and get a room with a window to the yard.

We booked the first 2 nights of our Istanbul trip here. The location is excellent.You are right next to downtown where all the attractions are happening. Lots of great restaurants and bars around. Price was 180 Euros a night.This is fairly expensive for Istanbul standards,so we expected to get fairly good service and big rooms. But couldn`t find either. Our room was too small,our bed was OK but not exceptional,staff hardly spoke any English,and it was too noisy at night. Except breakfast,which was really good,it wasn`t satisfying.... more

We recently stayed at the Lush and have these reflections on our stay. As we had a two week itinerary in Turkey and Greece we didn't want to blow 450Euros a night straight out of the gate. Keeping that in mind and having seen a article in the New York Times travel section with Lush included we thought , what the heck. The right price range (not the Four Seasons) and a busy location was the criteria. The location was terrific as it's a stones throw from Taxsim Sq. We stayed at the Lush Hip Hotel on a weekend package, which included among other things airport transfers and a half day tour. The airport driver was extremely rude to us because our flight was delayed (like we asked for that to happen) and then we got to the hotel. Our room keys didn't work, no big deal and then the lights didn't work, so we had maintenance coming and going for the first half hour, when all we wanted to do was have a shower and drink after 10 hours travelling. The hotel is very nice and is a great location within walking distance to Taksim square and Istiklal street which is where you want to stay to shop and for nightlife. The food at the hotel was some of the best we had on our two week trip. The cleanliness of the room was beyond compare as the wood floors did not even have a grain of dust or dirt to be felt. The airconditioning was great but there are no views. We didn't miss that though as we just walked 1 block to the areas where the action was and enjoyed the quiet when it was time... more

This is one of the worst, most overpriced hotels I have ever stayed in and the service was terrible. The hotel is on a relatively busy street (and near a hospital so there are sirens all the time) and our room was right on the street. At 4am, with no sleep, I finally asked to be moved but the hotel was full. For two nights we stayed with virtually no sleep. The manager did not move us, offered us no help whatsoever (let alone a discount) and showed no interest in helping us. When we arrived we asked for a quiet room and he said the room... more

I stayed in Lush for a week in May 2008. Many good memories, I have to say.. I travel a lot - about 1/3 of my time - and I have to say that this was one of the most stylish rooms I have stayed. Location - excellent - you are literally a minute away from Taksim Square, lots of shops restaurants around. Sultanahmet is also very close, either by taxi or rail. I stayed at Lush Hip Hotel for a little over a week. I was struggling to find decent accommodation in Istanbul - usually staying at the Intercontinental but the entire stock standard 5 star hotels were booked out. Lush may be Spartan if you are staying in their standard rooms, but the Elegance rooms were huge, comfortable and are spotless.
