Hotel Mina

We stayed at Mina hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is located perfectly, in walking distance to all the sights in the old town. The hotel is on a very quiet street and even though we stayed at the first floor, our room was quiet and we had no trouble sleeping. Our room was small and kind of dark. The bathroom was a bil moldy but ok. The breakfast was not that great, but it was maybe a typical Turkish breakfast and not what I'm used to back home.

We had five nights at the Hotel Mina, and we couldn't fault it. Great breakfasts, good rooms, free Internet access in our room, comfortable beds. All within walking distances of the Blue Mosque, Santa Sofia, the tram to everywhere else, great restaurants, Grand Bazaar, etc.

The Hotel Mina is located in the old part of Istanbul, very close to the heart of the viisitors areas but far enough away not to suffer from any noise - apart from the call to prayer. Our room was comfortable and clean, the staff were extremely polite and helpful. A leak from the bathroom ceiling had a porter in our room within two minutes of calling the desk and we were on the fourth floor! Friendly atmosphere with professional staff. Restaurant and terrace provide a relaxing setting. Reservation desk employee, Engin, offered to mediate a taxi fare dispute. The room was nicely maintained.

My boyfriend and I stayed there and our friends stayed at the Asmali Konak Hotel which was a five minute walk away from Mina. We decided not to stay at the Asmali Konak because Hotel Mina was cheaper and had a "fitness center." The fitness center consisted of a treadmill and small contraption that we could not figure out, but looked like it was supposed to work out your legs. Hotel Mina is definitely well-located. It's an easy walk to Aya Sofya, the Blue Mosque, the Basilica Cistern and more. There is also a tram stop just a few blocks away if you'd like to get further afield. Plenty of food options (kebabs, cafes, even a Starbucks) are nearby too. The hotel as mentioned by others is located in a very convenient location where everything is a walking distance and the breakfast restaurant had great views of the sea but there is no way it could be rated as a four star hotel, I mean the Hilton has four star hotels and there is no way to compare this hotel to the Hiltons or best western hotels! We were two person from India and had booked our hotel reservation through a travel agent after reading the review. We got a very nice deal for the stay. The hotel is centrally located and was in heart of Sultanahmet. Every tourist place in Sultanahmet, be it the Topkapi palace or the blue mosque or the grand bazar was just walking distance away. As noted, the location is excellent for touring Istanbul -- a five minute walk from Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque). The staff are courteous, helpful, and very friendly. The rooms are tidy and comfortable. The sixth floor restaurant offers impressive views of the area and the Sea of Marmara beyond. We were booked here as part of a tour package so we can't comment on rates.

We were very impressed with this hotel. The location for visiting all the main sites and for the tram was perfect. Value for money was excellent. The staff were very pleasant. Overall a very good venue Ann Ireland
