Oasis Cancun Hotel

Oasis Cancun is the most miserable and horrible hotel I have ever had the misfortune of staying at. If you are a young adult, and especially if you are a female, I strongly advise you to stay away. From the roaches in the room, the sinister staff who treat any non-Spanish speaking guest with spite and contempt, to the scamming staff who ignore you unless money is involved (they still attempted to scam money from me, although I purchased an "all-inclusive package") - Oasis Cancun is guaranteed to be the worst part of your vacation. I could go on for several pages describing the disguisting things about this hotel, but I will try to sum it up in a short paragraph. My friend and I (both 24 yr old females who have travelled to a nummber of Carribean island resorts) have never been more dissapointed and even offended by a resort and its "staff". I will try to make this as short as possible. Our group consisted of myself, a good friend (female), and three teenage girls (16-19 years old). We booked two rooms at the Oasis Cancun for 4 nites. The first surprise was that all of the teenagers were required to either give the hotel $100 each, CASH, to hold as a security deposit; or pay a one-time fee (non-refundable) of $30. I just returned from my 7 day trip from Cancun last night (22-29). It was great. Before I left I read some really negative reviews and thought my trip will be very bad. On the contrary it was just great. All the staff was very nice and helpful. There was a variety of food and of course drinks. The hotel itself was really good... The beach was amazingly beautiful, the white sand and the clear water... The pool is there too but not as appealing as the ocean. The daily acitivities are fun too... This was the worst hotel ever don't stay there!! I went along 15 of my friends and our first night there my room got ROBBED!! Between myself and my two friends staying in the room we lost about $1200 a credit card which they used had damaged suitcases and blood on some clothing from the person who broke in. June 29, 2002- We stayed at the Oasis Cancun June 17th thru June 21st. My husband, myself and our son went to Cancun with our friends and their daughter. We played this vacation for several months. We were told this was a 4 star hotel. What a joke!!!! We had to change rooms 3 times. June 17th thru June 21st. 4 0f 5 days had no AC! Very hot & muggy. Rained during the evening. Water came in all restaurants. Ruined our evening meals. Rain water also came in around the arcadia door and left a pool in our room each night. Hector at the front desk was extremely rude as we tried to find out why we had no AC or asked that we receive some form of restitution. 7 family members in my party suffered through the long warm nights and soggy meals. I am 29. My girlfriend is 26. We wanted to take a vacation at the beginning of the summer this year, and wanted to go somewhere where we can both relax and also have a fun time. Prior to taking this trip I read the reviews, and to tell you the truth I was scared to go, and you'd think I would be looking for stuff to complain about, and I was. The people were EXTREMELY friendly very helpful there wasn't anything that I didn't like except for the fact that I had to spend four dollars once my own water supply ran out.
