Hotel Club Phokaia

This was our first Sunsail Holiday and there were some great points but I am not sure we will go again. The resort is lovely, overlooking the sea. Rooms a bit pokey, but you don't spend much time in there. The beach is gritty and dirty sand, which is a bit disappointing. Obviously most people are there for the sailing and windsurfing. We spent one week here, and it was great. Two families, four adults of varying sailing abilities, and four cousins age 12-17, also ranging from sailing fanatic to enthusiastic learners. The food was delicious, the staff hospitable, the accommodations comfortable, and the other guests (lots of families) very congenial. One caveat - bring your own beach towel! Our family (2 adults, 5 year old & 1 year old) stayed at Sunsail Club Phokaia at the end of June. It is a big resort which has something for everyone. Firstly, the accommodation was clean, well presented and in good order. The only thing that let our rooms down was the air-conditioning which was inefficient and the rooms were uncomfortable at night. I, my wife and 2.5 year old daughter stayed at this Sunsail resort in mid/late June 2007. First the positives: In general the staff are great - enthusiastic, helpful and smiling; the sailing is good - wind willing, with plenty of equipment and a large bay in which to sail; the rooms are better than I expected with air conditioning (most of the time), two TVs and good shower/bath/jacuzzi; there is plenty to do other than sail; the swimming pool is large and well designed; the resort never felt too full (though it was full); short'ish... more

We had a wonderful time at Club Phokaia. My husband was out on the water doing what he loves, I was able to relax by the pool and read my book, all whilst our daughter Amy was in the minnows having fun, so much so that every time we went to collect her she started crying and didn't want to leave. This was our first holiday with Sunsail and we are going back again next year and would highly recommend it to everyone, especially if you have children as they are so well catered for.
