This was an excellent hotel with good facilities and friendly staff, the biggest plus is the lack of children here.
The hotel is slightly dated and 'ugly' in comparison to the surrounding hotels, but it has everything you need.

I am writing to give fair warning about the Golden Parnassus and the parent company Parnassus Resorts. While my wife and I believe that this is an adequate hotel for your traveling needs, a true test of a good resort is the way management handles situations and their... more

Brilliant! My girlfriend and I (27& 30) went with my parents to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday. The hotel staff were great from our arrival to the day we left, friendly waiters and bar staff. A good entertainment team, who will not pressure you too much to join in the... more

What can I say about this hotel apart from it’s out of this world. After returning back in October the first thing I did was book up for 2007 it was only meant to be a one off holiday, but it was so good. I can see myself and my boyfriend going back every year. We tried... more

I've had better
We were a little disappointed because we had asked before booking what the quality of alcohol was going to be and knew they had 24 hr. room service. They only had draft Corona for beer! and hid the mid shelf alcohol (you can tell what is important to me on a vacation). The night life at the hotel was nothing, the food portions were very small. The bartenders and entertainment staff were Great! The front desk personel were lousy. If you have the right expectations you'll have a great time. We had belieived we were staying at a 5 star hotel, we were wrong. The sister hotel Crown Paradise was huge and had much more to do in the evening.
Great Vacation
This resort was great. My husband and I went there during the first week of April. The weather was great, the resort was just what we were looking for. Small, quiet, no kids or spring breakers. The staff couldn't have been nicer to us. This resort is located in a very nice area of Cancun. The beach was fantastic. You never had to worry about leaving your stuff by your chair - the security guard was always there. The specialty restaurants were great (the food and service was excellent. They do need to work on the dinner buffet (the pasta was very good). We would return to this resort. Have already called our travel agent to recommend this resort to couples that are looking for a great place to relax at.
No need to worry about the old reputation
If you are looking into the Golden Crown and have heard about it's reputation from it's Jack Tar day's then let me put assure you this place is a gem. The price was right and substantially lower than a lot of other hotels in Cancun so we were a little hesitant about a "too good to be true" deal. I'm glad we took the chance. The hotel is not overly large and was not near capacity for our stay. There were no lineups for anything we wanted to do. The bar and restaurant staff are fantastic. Don't blame them for the low end booze the hotel buys. However they made tasty food and drinks all night long and we certainly enjoyed every minute of our stay. The beach in a word is fantastic. We had no problems leaving our stuff by the chairs when we went into the ocean. There is a security guard watching everything like a hawk. The entertainment staff was awesome and worked their butts off all day. Our room was clean and fresh, had working a/c and plumbing, and was top notch. You can tell it was recently renovated because the sheets and towels and furniture still look new. The biggest plus is that it is adults only so there are no little kids running around the place. Not too many post adolescent party types to make noise all night either. It was a good mix of ages and people from all over the globe. I think this hotel is going to take off quickly with this type of atmosphere so don't hesitate to enjoy it now before it's too late.
Glad it was free
We won this trip with about 10 other couples & then there was about 10 more couples that came as a group all from the same city, so just about every one knew everyone. So there was a good buzz going on from the start. The resort is just a 3 star & good for the price that we paid, haha. Our rooms were a good size for 2 people with two bed, we over looked the lagoon side, the room had a real musty smell, I guess would be normal with the sea salt environment. We were however missing the hanging lamp shade, so just the bulb was hanging there, Some one must still have it on their head. lolWe were on the 2nd floor and overlooked the area where they did the nightly shows & the balconys are easy access to each other so beware of leaving the balcony doors open, when not around, we know this because one of our patio chairs would disappear and well being on the end of the building there was only one way it could go, so we would hop over and reclaim when we needed it, which was to sit and watch the sunset. We were never in the room to really care. The nightly entertainment was good with the resort staff putting on different show every night. The food was good, we knew it wasn't 5 star and wasn't sure what to expect, I have a senitive stomach & was alittle concerned, but I watched what I ate & stayed away from anything that seemed spicey, always made my husband try it first, he ate everything & had no problems. The resort put on a big mexican buffet out around the pool which was nice with the staff all decked out & playing music, they also put on a itailan buffet in the lobby, with make your own pasta dishes loaded with every thing & anything, we reserved in the 2 al a cartes one being itailan, the othe being mexican, the mexican one is great, the waiters were funny, always trying to pour tequilla down our throuts, not a bad thing, but I really don't think it was the real stuff, because I am sure to have been puking after the first one, & I think I had 3 , The only thing reason they either soak up the moisture in the sir or the mexican believe in a really moist cake, but when you bite into it, it was really soggy. But what ever, there was other kinds to try.The pool area was always hopping with fun little pool games. The pool side bar was great the bartenders Jose and Jose were good to us, could of used an extra Jose sometimes, but they were entertaining and made it worth our wait. The ocean at our resort was always a red flag which is rough under current so you couldn't do alot of ocean sports, and the beasch ohhh myyy gooood, unbelievable, that sand is so nice and white and the fact that you can walk bare foot the whole entire beach from one end to another and it nevers get hot, so cool.We did a pub crawl the first night there and being tired from the travel we only hit I think 3 out of the 5 bars, they are fun, but expensive, considering it's free back at the resort. We took the bus for $1.00 i think and just tell the drive where you are staying and he will make sure to let you off at the right place. watch where you sit and hold on, it can be a wild ride. We did the all inclusive to Isle Mujures the boat ride over is a blast, they get everyone up and dancing & free booze all the way, once there we did the snorkle tour, pet a shark, biked around the island & then ate from the huge buffet, lounged in the hammock & slammed wobblypops then boated over to the other side for some shopping. then back on the boat for fun and games back and more wobbly pops. If you ever get a chance, check out the FOAM PARTY at the Oasis Cancun/Grand Oasis $50.00 cd and all you can drink, dance and foam all night, we had foam up to our neck, but don't go to the club deck to the nines, because you will not stay dry, where your bathing suits and shorts.we went to Xha ha and that was worth the money snorkle to your hearts content, if you want to snorkel don't go any where except here, it is all inclusive and a great nature excursion with the bird and dolphins(you can swim with $) and if yords all over, they have a few different restaurants and it is all included, we had the steaks at one of the out door bbq's with all you can eat and all the Korona you can drink and was delicious after an after noon of tubing and snorkling. and then lounging in the hammocks. The fact that it was -30 at home and +30 there and free, there is no reason for complaint. Just remember it is mexico, have an open mind, it is not like home, so things will be different and will not add up to your expectation and standards, but just remember that you are in their country, and try to respect and adjust to their culture.Happy Travelling
great adult all inclusive ive stayed at
we were suppose to stay at blue bay getaway and we got there and tey told us it was filled so they payed to but us in golden crown, thank god we had the best time of our life. food was awesome, the buffet was the best part. if u go say hello to jose the bartender at the pool bar
Nice place
I stayed at the Jack Tar Village about 3 years ago with some buddies for a week. The hotel is very nice, not as nice as some in Cancun, but not too flashy and the oceanfront rooms have a great view of the pool and beach. The ocean bar and snack bar are great, and having an all-inclusive package was perfect, as we were just able to sit out on the beach and eat and drink as much as we wanted. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Lot's of good stuff--and some bad stuff
The worst parts of the week:--It took two and one half hours for the Olympus tour people to get me from the airport to the hotel...very disorganized. Airport was a nightmare, but that's not the Spa's fault.--The drinks were watered down considerably.--Lost electricity in the room one night.--Lost all A/C the final night--humidity was a nightmare. The best parts of the week:--Beach was scenic, white, and massive.--Entertainment staff(especially Jenny, Sergio, & Alex) worked their butts-off to make the stay fun and active. There were always activities to partake in.--Food was tasty and varied. Portions were small, but adequate.--Bar staff(especially Jose) was extremely friendly & attentive--especially when properly tipped.--I was upgraded(no charge)to a top floor suite(marble jacuzzi and walk-in shower).--Diverse group of guests. Nice not to have kids around. In all, a nice stay...
Perrrrrrrrfecto
We have just come back from a week at this resort on March 6, 2003. The hotel was beutifully located with only 200+ rooms. The staff was extreemly freindly and helpful. Two excellent alacarte rest, and one buffet and a great sand bar, 24hr room service is also a nice touch. We never had to wait for any venue or rest. The bar tenders made sure that nobody got too out of hand and were a lot of fun. The rooms were all very spacius and the housekeeping staff were awesome. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this location to anyone looking for a intimate location and holiday.
Good All Inclusive For the Price
We arrived at the Golden Crown Paradise around 11:30 PM and were greeted with a welcome banana margarita, while we waited for our room keys. We had stayed at the Gran Caribe Real hotel the last time we were in Cancun, where the rooms were immaculate, we had an ocean view, a mini-bar - and the service was definitely 5-star. The only negative was that the beach was pretty small and we had tons of seaweed every day. When we entered our room at the Golden Crown Paradise, which was on the second floor above the all night grill - I was devastated to say the least. The room smelled of cooking, the mirror was broken and so was the shower. At that point, I really just wanted to go back to the Gran Caribe at any cost, however my husband and I just decided to have a good time anyway - we were in Cancun after all - how bad could this really be. We decided to talk to the front desk about changing rooms in the morning. I was super thirsty so I was dying for some cold bottled water - unfortunately that was not part of the all-inclusive. You can buy bottled water from the hotel shop for about US$4.00 OR you can walk across the street to the convenience store and buy it for US$1.00. We had an ocean view suite so when we woke up in the morning and saw the beach - we almost died! It was so beautiful and was so much better that the beach we had at the Gran Caribe! We ended up moving rooms to another ocean view suite and it was a million times better. Overall this place grows on you. We experienced great service - especially in the Pier 12 restaurant, where the food and service was unbelievable. The Shangri-La is the "higher-class" restaurant, where you need to dress more formally. The food there was pretty good overall and the service was great - but we found the portions to be pretty small - so order four courses if you want to be full at the end. The buffet was great for breakfast and we just ended up eating at the snack bar for lunch great hamburgers, fries and chicken wings! The entertainment every night in the Beer Garden was a lot of fun - except Romantic night, which turned out to be a bit crazy (if you go you'll find out what I mean - and be prepared to lose your clothes in front of complete strangers). Definitely check out the other hotel (Crown Paradise) for dinner - it is totally crazy compared to the Golden Crown - millions of kids and people everywhere - but they have some great restaurants. Make sure that you make reservations with the concierge at the Golden Crown before you go. One night my husband and I thought we would just go over to the other hotel for dinner -but quickly found out that we needed reservations - and ended up at the buffet (which wasn't that bad, but wasn't what we were expecting to do). With regards to phone calls to the US or Canada it is better to buy the phone cards from the hotel because you can use the payphone downstairs it is US$10.00 for 10 minutes. Calls from the rooms are about US$5.00 per minute ouch! We initially bought our phone card from the Signature vacation representative for the same price, but we had to use specific pay phones that were outside on the street, which wasnt very convenient at all.The basement area, where the gym and spa is located, smells pretty bad though. Our plane back to Vancouver left at 12:00 midnight, but checkout time is 12:00 noon. They had no extra rooms - we even offered to pay full price but no go. We ended up having to put our things in the lockers downstairs, where we took our showers. Let's just say it must have been the quickest shower of my life - it totally smelled like sewage down there - the shower area was very clean, but very stinky. If you are not looking for high-end 5-star hotel and you want something a little quieter - this is a great hotel for the price. It grows on you and we will probably go back - especially for the amazing beach!
Best Adult Only All Inclusive Ever!!!!
Adults only all inclusive. Make sure you stay here. This intimate first class hotel is nestled between the Ritz and Le Meridian. Don't confuse it with sister hotel further south that caters to families (Crown Paradise Club). We made the mistake of staying there and moved after two days of misery. This was sheer heaven. It may have had a bad rap from its days as Jack Tar Village but it is all new and the staff and food were 5 star. We checked out just about every hotel there and only saw two or three we liked as well and they were not all inclusive. The price is a bargain because the food was everything from hamburgers to oysters Rockefeller for lunch and the dinners were divine. The beach was the best stretch in Cancun. I am reluctant to praise this place too much as want to be able to go back anytime I want!!
