" We stayed at the Barcello Ibiza Port... "

We stayed at the Barcello Ibiza Port des Torrent for our annual summer holiday. First impressions were pretty good it was nice and very clean. Booking in was easier than I thought compared to previous reviews we had read about the staff not speaking much english it was also done very quickly, only downfall was that because we arrived before midday we were told we would have to wait until at least 2pm before we could go to our rooms because they still needed to be cleaned. Plenty of entertainment going on throughout the day for adults and children. There are 2 small and 1 generous size swimming pools with a jacuzzi which you have to pay for costing 2 euros but make sure that you are sat in the jacuzzi and another family member puts the euro in otherwise everyone else gets in leaving no space for you (which is what happened to us!!). The only downfall with the swimming pools is that if you're not there by 7.00am then there were no beds left as people were leaving their towels on them.Rooms overall were clean and tidy however you'd most probably get a better nights sleep sleeping on the floor comfort is not top priority. Beds had slats on the bottom with most of them broken in half so it was hit or miss whether you fell straight through the bed depending were you sat!! Rooms were cleaned everyday with clean towels, air conditioning was good after a thump but only worked if you were in the room as attached to your room key was a key to control the lights and fan, wardrobes were nice and spacious with adequate clothes hangers.Restaurant was clean with staff very welcoming, all drinks soft and alcoholic were self service having as much as you like, one thing we did notice with the soft drinks is that they always tasted of salt so stick to the lager or the wine!! Varied range of food everyday meat, fish, pasta and salad, also wide range of desserts, ice creams and fresh fruit. Daily entertainment was ok, the animation team did not stop all day from water areobics, water polo, volley ball etc. Nightlie entertainment was a bit dissappointing, 8pm started with the kiddies disco or show which they had practised throughout the day which lasted an hour, abit of music in between then a show at 10pm which consisted mainly of dancing, a owl show and a parrot show (once you've seen 1 parrot show you've seen them all). Our one and only complaint would go to the Thomas Cook rep Sam. She attended the hotel on Sunday afternoon for the welcome meeting and informed us that she would be attending the hotel on various days between a certain time should we wish to see her for any reason, she also told us our departure details would be placed on the board in reception the day before our departure. The day before we were due to travel home there were no details of our departure on the board which meant we then had to contact Thomas Cook 24 hour helpline which wasn't much help as there was no reply!!Overall I would recommend this hotel to families. Don't think it would be suitable for young couples as there is not enough nightlie adult entertainment going on. San Antonio Town is only a 5min ride in a taxi costing between 8-10 euros or a bus which leaves every hour costing 1 euro 45 so if you don't mind not being in the thick if the night life then it will be ok.

" I have just come back from a weeks... "

I have just come back from a weeks stay from the Hotel Barcelo Pueblo, on arrival the staff were friendly but some did not speak English very well so we needed a litte bit of help from other holiday makers while trying to check in. The rooms in the hotel are quite small but very clean infact the whole of the hotel is clean i couldnt knock anything about that, fresh towels were brought in each day, bins emptied and the beds were made this was normally after half past ten so we didnt have to get up too early. There is quite a lot of choice when it comes to the drinks on all inclusive but again sometimes the bar staff didnt understand what we were trying to tell them and we often came away with the wrong drinks. I would not encourage anyone to go all inclusive at this hotel if you are a fussy eater i myslef struggled and ended up spending most of the holiday money trying to find somewhere to eat as there was nothing in the hotel. You are fine if you like to eat fish every night and chips or eggs with cream in apart from that you will be a little stuck, on a night you are not allowed to eat the bread rolls or are offered any drinks so i advise you to get one from the bar before you go in as you wont get one once inside. The food is very continental but if you are hungry enough you will find something the bar snacks are excellent and only shut once the main resturant is open you can help yourself to chips, burgers, cheese and ham toasties and hotdogs theres no limit to what you can have. The hotel itself is very large with three swimming pools which are cleaned daily but there is a bit of a rush if you want a sunbed with a brolly as it does get very hot i was having to get up at quarter to eight to fight to get a bed. If you like the sun and are not bothed about the shade then there is no rush there are always plenty of sun beds available and there is a childrens pool and play area which again is kept very clean. I didnt rate the entertainment very much as it was all in Spanish including in the day but there was always something going on such as water games or darts. The staff all seemed to be very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. The only other thing that spoilt the holiday slightly is how far away the hotel is from everything there are three shops directly opposite the shop and it is about a 15 minute walk to the beach where there are two bars if you want to find night life then it is a half an hour walk but there is a bus that will take you down for just over one euro. Overall it was a nice relaxing holiday just a shame about the location and the lack of food i wouldnt go myself again but if your looking to stay in the hotel and make the most of the all inclusive then i would advise this to you.

" The actual hotel was a nice clean... "

The actual hotel was a nice clean hotel. Pools were kept nice and clean and rooms were cleaned every day. Hotel staff were nice and friendly.

Not many English people there at the time staying in the hotel. Food was very Spanish not much choice on anything else. It definitely works out cheaper for all inclusive there.

We spent £400 food and drink in a week even thou we had breakfast and tea included in that. No children’s menu or nothing much really for young kids. Very friendly thou towards children.

Entertainment is rubbish and all is finished by 11. bar not to supposed to shut until 1 but did shut earlier. Nice quiet resort and was lovely for a chilled out week.

San Antonio was a 5 minute bus ride from hotel and was good for a day out as port des torrent is quiet. The beach was a 5 minute walk from hotel and was nice and clean and had bars and restaurants right on beach front.

First Choice good company to go with.

" We went to this hotel only a few... "

We went to this hotel only a few weeks ago now, 9th May 2007. The temperatures soared up to 35c, which was a probably when the air con was only just being fitted into the hotel.

I should think this is up and running by now, but it didn’t really help at the time when you have prickly heat and a fan blowing hot air around.

The hotel itself is beautiful, very nicely set out and I would recommend coming to this hotel in season, as more opens.

The rooms were nice but the bathroom was not as clean as it could have been.

The food was very nice most nights, but there was a couple of nights were the choice was just fish, and if you’re not a great fish eater, you can have chips. Don’t expect full English either. Eggs is as far as it goes I’m afraid.

The entertainment was very good on the nights we caught it with a bird show and exotic dancers, San Antonio seems to be the place to go in the evenings. With a bus costing 1.40E each for a single. Or a taxi costing 9 Euros.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, but not when you get a gecko in your room and you can’t get it out (ended up moving rooms). There are lots of geckos in Ibiza, completely harmless, and you see a lot, just a bit of a shock when you have never seen one and there is one on your ceiling.

Overall the holiday was lovely for relaxing, not much to do in the area, but not far away there is a lovely beach (10 minute walk) and san Antonio.

" Overall the holiday ticked most of... "

Overall the holiday ticked most of the boxes. There was no air con. Which is not a big problem in May but not so sure the fan on the ceiling would cut it in the height of summer. The staff were all very enthusiastic and multilingual (a fair mix of German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch).

The food was very high quality but my kids didn't find much they would eat - seaweed, mussels and squid not ideal for kids. Only half the site open in May and the kids pool that was open was great - be careful of the strong water currents generated by the pump jets though. This was first time in Ibiza, this was much quieter than I expected but not a problem for us

" I went on this holiday to relax and... "

I went on this holiday to relax and enjoy not having to do any domestic housework whatsoever.

The location is probably not the best, but it was very clean aorund us and as a group of women with children and no men( we did this through choice) we all felt very safe. I have to say the overall holiday was absolutely brilliant the hotel was so relaxed. There was no rush for the sunbeds in the morning.

We found the smaller pool around the snack bar at the far end of the complex ideal for letting your children enjoy the pool, tennis court, golf, and holiday club whilst we all soaked up the sun! we were not over looked by other hotels and enjoyed plenty of sunshine. the food choice was excellent having a real range of dishes from around the world.

Not too good though if you want to stick to your burger and chips everyday unless you get them at the snack bar! The night time entertainment was very varied and kept us all entertained! We have booked again for next year, with high expectations for another perfect week.

" We stayed 1 week in this hotel.... "

We stayed 1 week in this hotel. Everywhere was very clean and tidy. Most people staying there seemed to be Spanish, French and German but there was no problem ordering drinks or speaking to staff in reception in fact all announcements about entertainment were made in all 4 languages!

The some of the food was a bit fishy for us but there was always lots to choose from even my fussy husband managed. The food was very fresh, they were very good a re-filling dishes. The snacks outside meal times were ok toasties chips and hotdogs.

Although we don’t have children we could see there was fantastic entertainment for them all day and night. For us without kids it was great that there was a separate pool so we could bathe peacefully at the pool. The evening entertainment was really good: African dancing, magic shows, dance competitions etc.

There’s nothing in Port des Torrent but a couple of shops and a small beach but the bus service is excellent, every hour for 1 euro 15 it takes about 25 minutes to San Antonio and it seems to run 24 hours. There is also water taxis from the beach during the day.

My one complaint would be that some of the drinks crisps etc behind the bar were not all inclusive and it wasn’t clear so if you didn’t check first you could find yourself paying. We survived on San Miguel and Sangria so there wasn’t a problem. Also the all inclusive drinks finished a 11pm so if you wanted a late night in the bar you have to pay.

My one recommendation is go to San Antonio Cafe del Mar or Cafe Mango or Cafe Savannah buy a jug of sangria and watch the magical sunset.
" My family & I stayed at this... "

My family & I stayed at this hotel for 2 days, we were meant to stay there for 2 weeks. What first (LAST) choice forgot to tell us was this hotel would be almost shut down & it is not good for families with young children. What a nightmare we had there.

Cold food, no entertainment, no snacks during the day, very bad mannered bar staff that couldn’t get our drinks right & nothing to do for the children. The only plus side for this hotel is it’s nice & clean & has nice swimming pools.

We complained to our rep along with 2 other families & we were eventually moved to another hotel. The Coral Playa at ES CANA, so much better then the Barcelo. Everything was 100% better then Barcelo.

Just one more thing, ALL INCLUSIVE SHOULD MEAN EVERYTHING IS FREE, but at both hotels we had to pay for cocktails & 4 people being crammed into a double room is not what I call fun.

We are going back to Ibiza 2005, but to a Hotel we know & trust. SAN MIGUEL,BEACH CLUB,THE HOTEL or the GALLEON we don’t care they are all great family hotels...

" This hotel is ideal if you want to be... "

This hotel is ideal if you want to be near all the action but not actually in it. It’s just outside of the bay and there are a few bars/places to eat and nice restaurants. It was very peaceful at night time if you just fancied a couple of beers. However, when you have the energy to visit san an bay and Centro for the bars, clubs etc there is a really good bus service running every hour throughout the day and night! We used it lots, leaving the hotel around 11pm and getting the 4am bus back!

The hotel is nice , with three pools and lots of activities going on like ping pong, tennis football etc. The rooms are simple but nice. However, don’t have air-con. At night times it got very warm! The food was nice and simple. There was night time entertainment but it wasn’t our cup of tea!
