Budget doesn't have to mean less
The Hali Hotel is located on a side street off the main drag in the Sultanamet district at the top of the hill, just a few feet from the streetcar (trolly) line. It is within very easy walking distance to all the major sights. The hotel is clean, friendly and has its own charm. Elevator large enough for two and luggage, my room was a single pained in cheerful lemon yellow with white crown moulding and "picture frame" type detailing on the ceiling. Bedroom: The room was spacious with a round table and two arm chairs, a small desk... more
Good value hotel
I was unsure when booking this place through a recommendation from a friend but found it to be a good clean simple hotel. Great location for sight seeing (unless you are a nightclub person in which case best stay in Beyoglu and take a load of cash with you). Value for money was why I gave it 4*. Not too familiar with prices in Istanbul but hard to see it being beaten by too many places. Rooms were basic (but thats what you are paying for) clean and mine was quiet (a big bonus). The staff spoke perfect English and were... more
Strange Little Hotel, Delightfully Quirky
Been meaning to write this review for over a year, now. I stayed at the Hali Hotel last May with a tour group. This hotel apparently is a favorite of tours catering to belly dancers. The rooms are small, oddly furnished but very clean and quiet. The first night we were there my roommate and I were in a room so infested with cigarette smoke we woke up with sinus headaches. Our tour leader reported this to the front desk and we were immediately moved to another, larger room with a fabulous view of the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. The... more
Solid place with good value
Great price. Good room and nice breakfast with great views. Not luxurious but absolutely clean and acceptable. Kicker is the price - paid about 50 USD per nite which was a steal compared to other hotels in this expensive city. Location is SPECTACULAR about 100 yards from the Blue Mosque. Will DEFINITELY stay here again if I get back to Istanbul.
Solid, but a bit drab
The Hali is almost the definition of a middle-of-the-pack hotel. It's fantastically close to the Ayasofya, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and Grand Bazaar - probably the four biggest drawcards in Istanbul - but the hotel itself can be a bit drab and peculiar at times. On the good side, the views are utterly fantastic. Not many places can say truthfully that on a clear day you can see the Marmara Sea, Ayasofya and the Blue Mosque. Indeed, the views are so good that light sleepers may find themselves awakened very early by the call to prayer... more
- close to everywhere.
You can´t choose better location to stay if you are interested in visiting the old Istanbul. The Blue Mosque, Haiga Sophia, Topkapi Palace are just after your door, the great Bazaar and many mosques and monuments just on the corner. Where else can you have breakfast looking at Sultan Ahmet Camii with the Marmara sea as a background? The staff is friendly, the rooms on the normal std and usually you can negociate the rate. Normal rate is around 80 Euro but in low season it can fall till 50 or 60! Good value!
The Hali- Simple but symphatetic
Hali Hotel is a simple but sympathetic hotel. Rooms are of avarage standards, but enough for a comfortable stay. The lobby with the bar is also cosy. The breakfast at the terrace with a wonderful view to the important sites is a plus. The central location ( very close to St.Sophia and Blue Mosque) is important for choosing Hali Hotel.
Comfortable
Sometimes you need something to depend on. When your feet are like raw steak and you're hot, tired and harrassed, the Hali is like an old friend; solid and dependable. The big three (Blue Mosque, St Sophia (stunning) and the Topkapi Palace (give it a full day) are but minutes away. Lots of restaurants, the Grand Bazaar and the Cistern are equally close. The breakfast terrace is a winner; you can choose to be indoors or outdoors with a great view of St Sophia and the Bosphorous. The staff are excellent, friendly and attentive. The... more
Great Hotel for short stays
Stayed at Hali Hotel from 31/07/04 to 04/08/04. Fantastic small and friendly hotel in the old part of Istanbul. Rooms are rather small but well equiped. Fantastic views of the Blue Mosque and Saint Sophia Mosque. Would go back again for short break.
loved the Hali and location
We stayed from 15th March to 19th March as part of a two center trip to Turkey. This hotel could not be better placed for all of the main historical sights, easy walking distance . The service was excellent and the staff were very helpful, and most spoke good English. The view from the breakfast terrace has to be seen to be believed.
