Flamingo Cancun Resort Hotel

Febrauary of 2002. It was our first time ever. When they say to smile and be nice at the front desk upon arriving they aren't kidding. Of course I just was excited to be there and am nice anyway but wow did we ever get a great room! The marble was endless and the bathtub was small (I am not however) but very clean and well maintained. We left the sliding doors open every night and listened to that wonderful ocean. The Flamingo Cancun is a great place to relax and get away from the cold.

I went to Cancun on Jan 6 2003 and I had a blast. Flamingo Resort was really clean and friendly. The food did not differ that much from day to day but I liked it and didn't get sick. Drinks were good too and there were no hidden charges. The staff cleaned up after us as soon as you ashed once in a ash tray. I did not see one person standing around doing nothing. Plus they offer VIP treatments to the hottest clubs for the same price the club charges just to get in. Over all I had the time of my life.

Would not go back again, Hotel is very outdated, and staff is ignorant. By the way, DO NOT use the phone (incudes pay phone)if you don't have to!! Or You WILL pay!!

My Mother booked an Apple Vacations flight & hotel package through her travel agent in Colorado for ten days over Christmas, 2002. First problem: She asked for a 4-star level hotel as she was treating her sister (from Germany) to her first Mexico vacation. Her sister regularly travels throughout Europe staying at 5 star resorts. Apple ranks the Flamingo as "4 apples" which led the travel agent and my Mom to believe that it was in fact a 4-star rated accomodation. NOT AT ALL! The Flamingo is an old not modern hotel. The staff were not overly attentive and the food was especially gross. A good hotel to stay at if you choose to not go all inclusive. Nice band in the lobby bar after 6 but the bozo at the day pool ran us off. Beautiful upper pool that overlooks the sea. Very peaceful. The rooms are old and outdated but the AC worked and we always had hot water. The rooms facing the street are quite noisy so get oceanfront for peace and quiet.

A group of my friends and I visited the Flamingo in August of 2002 and we thought the hotel was awesome. The view is pretty (i recommend an oceanview), the food was great and the rooms and service were a lot better than i thought they would be. Everyone treated us very well, considering we were a bunch of 18 year olds. I'm going back to Cancun in July and i am most definitely going back to the Flamingo.

My husband & I stayed at the Flamingo last year and I would recommend this hotel for people on a budget- do the ALL INC. It is a smaller hotel with 2 pools- 1 is the party pool and the other facing the Caribbean is the laid back relaxation pool. Beach was beautiful! And no locals selling their wares. Breakfast buffet was great, lunches at the outdoor bar facing the beach were very good. Excellent authentic guacamole. Dinner okay. we have stayed in cancun several times, Oasis first then the Flamingo. Last time we stayed at the Costa Real. The Oasis was nice but too large, The Costa Real was very nice but the beach was small and was sheltered too much from the pounding waves we enjoy. We are reading the reviews and pretty much decided to return to the Flamingo. We found the rooms very clean everyday, The food is good and a selection everyday of local fruits and veggies. I have stayed here several times over the past couple of years. I have never used an all-inclusive plan. The hotel is actually two hotels, an older and a newer part, so the quality of the rooms vary. I have had friends that got stuck with a "leaky" room and they had to change it - but that's the only problem. This is an above average hotel that is located in a great location. With the mall across the street - you can easily get by cheaply with McDonalds for breakfast, etc.. The beach is often too dangerous to swim at, but it is pretty... more
