ok where do i start....knew it was going to be basic but to be honest there are standards and there are standards
now im far from posh...i come from south london always lived on council estates and know what's its like to rough things but there are standards.
The room we were given stunk like dead bodies!! the air conditioning did not work and the fan was falling off the ceiling i was back down in reception with in 5 mins, they changed my room to the top floor a little better than the previous one and as we had no choice we stayied the night....i slept fully clothed and couldn't wait for the next day when we paid more money and went to the santana hotel.
my advice is pay a bit more money and go somewhere else,i wouldnt let my pet stay there, its disgusting.
WARNING...... if you have small children please dont go there.....the pool is filthy....the bathrooms are just as bad....but most of all i think the balcony's are dangerous. we would condem it if it was here....stay away...

Just back from spending 10 days at Palm court. I booked then read the reviews and was terrified. However it was not as bad as i thought it would be. The corridor smelt musty and so did my room Once I aired the room it was Ok. the bed was comfortable and the air condition worked well. I was disappointed in the food. it was the same breakfast every morning and hot milk was not available some of us like hot milk with our cereal. some maltease food would have been appreciated. however i will still go again. the location is excellent. it was a stress free holiday for me. the resturant manager need to smile and ask folk if they enjoyed the meal let folk know you care

Hi, we have stayed at this hotel 4 times now .If it was half as bad as some of these people say we would not be coming back time after time. Each time we are here we see the same faces ,so its not just us that keep going back.Beds are clean, towels changed daily, food not to bad ,good selection. The only thing I seem to be missing is some COCKROACHES ,ANTS ,etc.but I'm quite sure the friendly girl at reception can order us up a few.Regards S&L

We visited Palm Court Hotel in Malta in October 2007.
My mum - 49, Dad - 57, brother - 17 and myself - 23.
I thought as I had booked it out of the paper that I would internet search the hotel.
Oh my god, having read the comments on this site I sheepishly went to my parents and informed them. I was worried that our first family holiday that wasn't camping in the UK or twinning would be a disaster. I clearly remember reading one review that said the locals called it Fawlty Towers.
We therefore vowed to make this a dam good holiday. We had booked half board and mum reassuringly said if we eat out each day so be it.
Anyway we were due to leave at a reasonable hour 3 ish I think from Bristol. However the weather in Malta had been poor so the plane was late. Being a nervous flyer this did make the airport endurance longer but thats no ones fault.
We arrived a good 4/5 hours later than anticipated at the hotel. The Kitchens were closed and we were hungry. We checked in and walked across the road and had a lovely meal. We returned to the hotel later and pretty much went straight to bed.
Mum mentioned to the rep that we had been delayed and therefore did not eat on the arrival evening and she responded with a lunchtime ticket to be used for lunch on a day. - How helpful.
We had requested next door rooms but mum and dad were a little further away from us but being 17 and 23 this wasn't really a problem.
The next day we met the rep and signed up for a few trips. I think in total we had 2 days out of 7 by the pool. Our guide on the excursions was fab. Mum and Dad are considering going back and hiring her privately so she must have been good.
Our room did have a few ants. However like another review said what can you do? It is a hot country and they are as common as spiders under the bed here.
It was hot in the dining room but you just dress accordingly. Your not in there forever.
The indoor pool was not pretty and we did not venture in. The outdoor pool was freezing but what do you expect when its hot outside? People were still getting in and splashing about. Got to admit it I was not brave enough.
We met people there who had been there for weeks. They liked it so much. We didn't really deal with the staff just requested our key and ordered drinks at the bar. If you smile at them they smile back and could not be more helpful.
We didn't pay alot for our holiday including flights, transfers, accomodation and food. We were expecting the worst having read these reviews, and yet we had the best holiday ever. It really was. My advice for you is to read all the bad stuff yes, possibly even expect the bad stuff and then the only way is up. I hope you have a great time.

to start it is a shame you cant put a rating of 0 because that is what i would give worse hotel in the world. me and a friend nicknamed palm court faulty towers. on the first night we had to be moved because they put us in a double bed (both males) lol. the next room we had to move out of because of rouches the bathroom was covered from top to bottom. the third room was the same prob but worse. we dnt get to the end of the hoilday because when we was sat on the balcony we seen about 3 rats run in to the kitchen that for me was the last straw. after this we got a room at a hotel round the corner. Club Salina Wharf was one of the best hotels iv ever been to we now own a time share at salina wharf and go every year. over all hoilday was good if you dont go to palm court lol. trips and everything apart from palm court is brill.
ALL IN ALL DONT GO TO PALM COURT PLEASE IF YOU WANT A NICE HOLIDAY DONT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Three times we've beenand we're going again. 5 weeks half board, myself and my 11 year old son. We eat the food regulary and enjoy it. There's Clean towels every day sheets changed often. Staff are friendly and helpfull' and there's money left in my wallet. I come to enjoy Malta not sit in hotel all day. Palm court provides everything I need, in the hotel, at a price that allows me to stay longer.
Don't get me wrong things can always improve but on the other hand they could be a damn site worse

My husband and have just returned from 6 weeks at Palm Court, we stayed in the Venus last year for 6 weeks and would have preferred to have stayed over there again this year, we knew exactly what we were getting yes its very basic but our bed and linen was clean, room cleaned every day and plenty of hot water in the shower,we always found something to eat at breakfast and dinner.we reckon we had good value for money.
the down sides...
The carpets in the corridors are awful and dirty and stained but if you walk quickly to your room the bedroom is ok,the swimming pool area needs an update, needs cleaning and painting the sunbeds are old and saggy its far better to sit on the rocks by the sea and after all we were there for the sun and sea. if we can get as good a bargain next year as this we will certainly be booking for 2009

DON'T DO IT!!!! There is a saying you get what you pay for - well we paid too much.
Book a self catering apartment with a pool and you will be far better off I PROMISE!!
My partner came here 5 years ago and said the hotel is not great but its basic, its clean and the staff are friendly. To use as a base for a family holiday it will be fine. He was very sorry to have put our family through this and we are not the type who need/want pampering just good basic facilities - we love camping for gods sake.
Well it is in so much need of care that you can't actually tell whether it is clean or dirty, but it smells like school toilets. The swimming pool was filthy and there is splintered wood on some sections where the drainage at the side is broken/missing. We asked for 2nd floor pool view and got 4th floor with no view. When asking to be moved or if this wasn't possible could you please turn the heating off in our room, and for a bath mat to stop the kids slipping on wet floors the staff (Maria the rep) was unhelpful and rude, my partner said this just isn't on you need to do something about this it is not acceptable - she turned and said "it takes one to know one and you are rubbish too"!!! There are no drinks provided for the evening meal for the children, tea or coffee for adults - not even water. It is outrageous and the dining room is in the basement with window on one side only it is like entering the depths of a hot, sweat shop! The staff are obviously so worn out with people complaining at them they don't smile or talk to anyone, the atmosphere stinks even when trying to make it "fun" for two small kids.
We hired a car for a week and basically ate breakfast at the hotel and some evening meals. Would have ate out every night but hadn't budgetted on having too. The island itself is gorgeous and people friendly.
Myself and my partner have just...

Myself and my partner have just returned from our third holiday at the Palm Court in Malta, and i have mixed feelings about this hotel. Firstly we only paid £220 per person for fully inc. and to be honest thats not a bad price at all!! I have just spent the last 30 mins reading other peoples comments on this hotel and quite frankly a lot of them are very exaggerated, as i have said i have stayed at the Palm Court three times now and never once have i seen a Cockroach or even an ant, and besides its a hot country and these creatures are as common in these countries as a spider is in England!!! The rooms are very basic but they are clean, and the people who said the towels and bedding are dirty are talking a load of S*@T!!!!!! The rooms are cleaned daily, bins emptied and always clean towels!!!! I have however found that over the years this hotel has gone a bit downhill, i found they were very short staffed, so reception and getting drinks was quite slow at times. It is in need of painting but for gods sake ur on holiday, and anyone with a life doesnt spend a lot of time in the hotel so whats it matter if it needs decorating!!!! I was a little annoyed at the fact the bar was closing early, and when i enquired why i was told there was not enough people in to keep it open till 11pm!!! In previous years the bar has still been open at midnight!!! Although u do pay for your drinks after 11pm but u know that before u go on the holiday. The worst thing about this hotel is the heat in the dining room, its in the basement of the building and is so hot we tended to eat out after paying for fully inc. Basically its a cheap holiday, we got flights, transfers, board, food n drink for £220 per person so what do u expect??? Its cheap n cheerful, and some nice people stay there!!! Malta itself is a lovely place and has lots of bars n restaurants. LA STALLA is FIRST CLASS!!!! the staff are very friendly n the food is second to none!!!! Basically u get what u pay for at the Palm Court, so all u whingers out there....... GET A LIFE, or better still go somewhere else!!!!!
If this hotel was in the U.K. it...

If this hotel was in the U.K. it would be closed down. Our room had the ceiling falling down; linen looked none to clean, dirty crocks in the room. Air Conditioning unit falling off the wall. Radiator falling off the wall, toilet black, sink had rust marks down it. The swimming pool was filthy and the balcony rail was filthy. The ceiling fan in the bedroom was all bent and twisted and didn’t work. There were ants running around in the room everywhere. The food was also very bad. We were on the last sitting. I had chicken and carrots, I think a sack of carrots had been tipped into the slicer, you had tops, bottom, green bits, bad bits all had been cooked. The chicken was fine. One of our party had fish you couldn’t eat it because it was so dried up. She ended up having a bread roll and ice-cream for her dinner. We never even slept there; we left and found another hotel.
If you are considering this hotel, then don’t.

Having just read some of the comments for this hotel and even though it was a while ago that we went, I have to just add my comments.
We, that is my husband, myself and daughter who was 10 at the time, went to this hotel for a 1 week break, booking through Malta Bargains. com, I thought we were getting a fairly good deal. When we pulled up outside, I was mortified, apart from a very grubby looking place, there were people queueing in the street, with their suitcases waiting to be checked in. After 1 1/2 hrs in 40 degrees heat, we were given our key and shown to our cell, sorry room. The walk to the hotel through the corridors looked like a Russian prison, along with cigarette butts and empty beer bottles lying around, it was filthy.
The room!
Where do I start?
The bathroom, the toilet did not flush, the seat was broken, the pan was rancid, the tap would not turn off and the basin had a huge crack in it.
The bedroom was filthy, the bedcovers were brown and disgusting, they looked like something an old dog had been sleeping on, there were two broken patio chairs in the corner, the patio doors were broken and would not lock and were right opposite a very niosy bar, the wardrobe door was broken and the light was hanging out of the ceiling along with the fan, which was turning so slow I had to watch it for 5 minutes to make sure it was actually moving, I refused to spend 1 night in there.
The Pool!
The water was a milky white, the childrens pool the same, needless to say I told my daughter to stay out! The pool area and steps were dirty, very slippery and dangerous, nowhere was clean at all and there was food all over the floor.
The Food!
I did not eat there, neither did my daughter, but my husband, who was 'starving'. decided to have a burger, 12 months later he was still regretting it!! Turns out, (as he spent the next 5 days in bed, in another hotel I might add,) he got SALMONELLA, from eating that burger, SO BE WARNED. It could only have been there because he did not eat again for 6 days. When my daughter tried to get a lolly ice, the only one's included in the ALL INCLUSIVE, were cheap nasty homemade looking ones. So we had to pay for one, from the really charming staff, NOT!
That was the last straw and we joined the queue, which was about 40 deep, of people demanding to be moved, which they are only too happy to do and do not argue about, for a hefty and extra fee of approx £300!!! It was almost as if they were expecting it!
So it is safe to say this hotel is a disgrace, but also famous, as we found out the next day it has featured on, HOLIDAYS FROM HELL, on more than one occasion.
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY OTHER REPORTS, THIS HOTEL IS DISGUSTING. I HAVE STAYED IN A LOT OF HOTELS AND USUALLY WILL PUT UP WITH A LOT OF LITTLE NIGGLY THINGS, BUT THIS ONE IS BEYOND A JOKE.

I wanted to book into Venus Apts, next door to Palm Court as we wanted to go self catering. The Malta Bargins website says Venus apartments are FULL till the end of May then full again after Sept?.Forced to stop at Palm court we found Venus apts shut! not full not even open. Why does their website says FULL?,will it be full in Sept?.The main hotel(Palm Court) is quarter to half full in fact pretty dismall for them, so why not close their sister establishment tell em its "Full" thus filling more rooms at Palm Court Hotel?.
Penny's dropped with the missleading adverts in uk papers, people are not biting to the "low" prices, peoplepower?.The entertainment in the main bar is limited to 3 nights,so if you want a excellent pint of Cisk lager go to Munchies bar near Buggiba district 12min walk away or nearer, Queens Head with free food!.Final point..Look on reception desk@Palm court,a notice there say's rumours the place is being pulled down in winter 2008 are untrue spread by timeshare sellers..sticks & stones comes into mind??. LOVE MALTA,HATE BEING CONNED.

I have visited hotels in Europe,Asia, Australia & America.I am not saying that Palm Court was a fabulous holiday, but I was there for a fortnight, and apart from a snotty
barman and an unhelpful receptionist,I really enjoyed myself as did a chap from Warwick and his dad that I befriended .The weather was good and the people were friendly. The bus fare (3.5hrs toValletta)was only 25 cents return. The price of a pint of beer less than 1/2 of a pint in the UK,and there was free entertainment in the Pubs.
What do you want for 166 pounds? 1/2 board clean bedding and room. The meals were
edible & acceptable.I'm not Maltese, and have never been there before .But I am honest and have no wish to denigrate a friendly helpful people just to tell lies on the internet .
Plus,I'm not afraid to publish my name and address in support of what I found and I know the people I met from Warwick, whilest there will concur with my comments.
Incidentally,I shall be taking my wife this September .

we have read a few reviews on this hotel and truthfully when we stayed there we got what we payed for, cheap holiday with the weather what more do people want for gods sake. Food ok but not fantastic but once again we did not pay ritz prices we had a brill holiday its what you make of it at the end of the day. We are going again in two weeks and we will have a good one again we are not what we call posh but we do like a clean place to sleep if you have got that and nice weather not bad food what more do you want for the price. we would not go back again if it was that bad like some people are making out , everyone we met had seemed to have stayed there before,so take no notice of reviews eccept mine and go and enjoy your hols in the sun.
