COUPLES BEWARE – This is a very large family friendly hotel complex with up to 1700 guests. The room blocks are vast and have very long corridors where noise is amplified especially disturbing at night. The general turnover of guests (mostly families) is on a day and... more

We spent our honeymoon here 2 years ago. I have been to several hotels in Greece and Spain and none even came close to this hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel. It was quiet and relaxing, such a good choice of food. The boiled eggs made us smile - boiled for 3... more

Upon checking in we were required to pay 20 euro deposit for 2 remote controls, given a map and shown which direction to walk to our hotel room with our bags. We trundled round the complex to find that we had been placed in the first part of this complex not shown in any... more

Me & my girlfriend arrived at 2.30am on a Monday morning, extremely tired. When we got to Corfu Plaza reception to check in, there was only one guy working there and between around 30 people we all had to wait in a single file queue to get our room keys which took us... more

We booked this holiday 3 days before flying out so although we read some of the comments we thought we would give it a try. The hotel itself was lovely. The rooms were very large with queen beds and all the usual mod cons. The pool area was excellent with ample beds and... more

We had a great holiday on Corfu. The weather and the sea are beautiful. You have to pay to use the beach chairs though which was a bit annoying and added up over the week. The men walking up and down selling doughnuts and shouting about it were also shattering the peace and... more

Love Corfu, do not recommand Palm Beach hotel
Because we booked a rented car before we arrived in Corfu (recommended if you want to see the island) we had to find the way to the hotel ourselves. This isn’t very easy since they don’t use street names in Corfu. I’ve send a message to the hotel asking directions but they never bothered answering. This brings us to the first complaint. The hotel management probably learned their job in former communist country. NO DISCUSSION. Rules are to be obeyed. Incredible rules as there are: a company witch children below 13 years have to have dinner between 6 and 7 PM. Other people eat between 8 and 9 PM. Pool is open from 9.30 AM till 6 PM. Pool and poolside were good although there was no children’s pool and you can’t go for an early or late swim when the sun isn’t burning. Rooms are OK. Nice spacious rooms with a good air conditioning unit. Satellite television with 4 (four) channels (CNN, BBC world and 2 German channels). Use of fridge in room will cost you €3/day or €15/week. The food. Well you won’t starve to dead and I can imagine some people actually enjoying this kind of food. Although it looks as you gets a bit of variation every day they’ll never surprise you. Always the same kinds of food. And if you are a bit late, you’ll have to do with the leftover. Breakfast is a disaster. No variation at all. What they call coffee is in fact a kind of black liquid... (But some people actually do drink it). You shouldn’t try the cereals. I did and now I know how cereals taste when they are kept in an uncovered bin in a hot place. Location: St George is a nice place. Friendly people. Nice restaurants and bars. We will go back but we will find a hotel or apartment though local people we have met during our stay. We really recommend the restaurant “Le Bistro”. Tasteful location with beautiful garden. The food is really delicious, prepared with only fresh ingredients. Do try the Greek specialties. They are the best around. Wines are gorgeous. Prices are reasonable. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. For a perfect cappuccino or a nice coffee we recommend the “evergreen”.
Don't believe the reviews!!
My fit boyfriend and I have just got back from a week in St Georges South, and can say we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at palm beach. Before we went we read some of the reviews on here and were a bit worried, but soon after arriving we realised they got it wrong! We were pleasantly surprised by the rooms- although we didnt have a pool/sea view the room was very clean and nicely decorated with excellent air conditioning. the king size bed was also a bonus!! we both thought the pool was really good, and hardly ever got full. the pool bar was small but cute with some nice snacks. also the beach couldnt be closer to the hotel and you can find a nice quiet spot if you walk along the beach. i dont understand all the negative comments such as 'awful food', 'dirty pool' and 'scruffy staff'. there was a wide range of dishes at both breakfast and dinner but fussy eaters will rarely be satisfied wherever they go. the drinks at dinner were a bit pricey but this just means you go out for a drink in the town which are really cheap. the reception staff admittedly were a bit rude and werent very friendly. we were given a time for dinner upon arrival, but we didnt stick to it and were able to go in when we wanted. make sure you go out for a few meals in the town where there are loads of cheap tavernas averaging at about 10 euros per person for a meal with wine :D the bars also stay open late, and we ate delicious crepes at a 24hr cafe called 'evergreen' a couple of times- highly recommended!! although the outside buildings were a little shabby, i would consider the hotel 4*, and would recommend this hotel to couples who just want to relax and chill (the resort isnt particularly lively). we paid about £300 for a week which is about right, i dont think i would pay any more. look around for a good deal and have fun!!
You get what you pay for folks!!
I wanted a really quiet holiday to recharge my flat batteries - and this place was great - I could have done better, but I could have done a lot worse. The the staff were great! Waiters/Barmen - very charming (typical waiters ready to woo the first available female - but hey!! Wooing is good!) Complex VERY large, but easy to get used to. Rooms very comfortable thanks to A/C. Food is ok. I didn't book this holiday expecting a 4* hotel so I wasn't disappointed. Very happy with the lovely beach (cheaper sunbeds up near the Tavernas). The hotel has a lot of wasted space - pool bar is the only bar despite numerous buildings which could have & should offer the same facility. I would go back but I wouldn't pay more than the £300 I paid for 1 week. I've stayed in plenty of hotels & I would rate this as a 3*. I went 20 June & the beach was very quiet - wonderful! Let's be honest - you eat (by choice) & sleep at the hotel - & that's it. The beach, pool, weather & local tavernas make up for whatever you may feel this hotel lacks.
Our recent trip Sept 04
Rooms very clean + AC a ++ BUT food rushed and only x1hr to eat, wines were returned as mouldy BUT had to pay thus x1 500ml btl Retsina cost us €22.00 which could have been bought at Taverna fro €1.80 !! Management, waiter (Costas) etc refused to credit us! Nice town of Ag George BUT eat out or avoid 1/2 board if possible
Fabulous Accomadation, Superb Holiday
After reading the reviews on this web site my boyfriend and i were worried about what we were letting ourselves in for!! So when we arrived at Palm beach we were pleasantly suprised as we walked into our spacious, clean, modern room a stones throw from the beautiful sandy beach of St Georges!! The food in the resturant was a bit dodgy the first night (especially as im such a fussy eater) but improved greatly when we returned next night!! All the staff were EXTREMELY plesant and helpful. The rooms were cleaned with fresh towels given daily. The pool was amazing but freezing! There are a few shops, a variety of nice bars/tavernas and a club. They were great fun and stayed open until the early hours. There are lots of places to eat out if you fancy a change, the IRON DRAGON chinese restaurant was gorgeous. I would recommend Palm Beach and St Georges to everyone it was just superb, we'll definatly be returning!!! There are three trips you are offered when you get there, i would recommend the greek night and the shopping trip to corfu town, the boat trip was a bit boring as it takes a good 1hr and a half to get to the island of paxos and there isnt much to do, however it is very picturesque!! So if you had any worries about this hotel or town i hope ive cleared them up, ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY!!
Thumbs up for palm beach!
My boyfriend and I arrived at Palm beach hotel on 3rd September to a smart looking hotel with friendly reception staff. We had arrived before we were due to check in but a staff member personally checked the room to make sure it was ready for us, which is was. I was very happy with the room, very clean and with everything we needed. The complex itself was well maintained and very quiet. The pool area was also very clean and there were plenty of sunbeds to go around, and despite strong winds preventing the umbrellas to be put up on some days everything was fine. Despite what people say the food was fine. I quite liked having separate meal times to families with children. (However, in fairness to those families it probably should have stated this prior to booking). The range of food was large at both breakfast and dinner. The only downer was that the resort was very small and lacked quality entertainment. But if a relaxing pool/beach holiday is what you are after the place is perfect.
An unfriendly place
holiday 20th august 2004 We arrived at midnight and having paid for sea views we found that we were put in two rooms opposite the loading bay even though the hotel was less than half full. After complaining the following morning, we were moved to rooms with sea views. As an added comment I would add that fewer than 30% of the rooms could say that that they had any kind of sea view. On the first evening we went for dinner at 8.0pm but were told that children were not allowed on the second sitting which was something not mentioned on any websites. The second sitting was 8.0pm until 9.30pm. They said that Children could only eat at the first sitting which was 6.0pm to 7.30pm. Finally after much arguing the hotel agreed to let us eat at 8.30 pm. Two additional rules were :- i) that a party of 6 or more could not sit together (we were a party of 6 ) because we were not allowed to put two tables together. We had to eat at separate tables for the whole of the holiday) ii)Although food was available until 9.30 you could not order a drink after 9.00pm. I asked the rep from Med hotels if he could sort out our dining times and table situation but he said that they were hotel rules. When I said that other people were feeling the same he advised me not to discuss my grievances with other guests because the hotel did not take kindly to gossip and I could get a warning. Regarding food standards, breakfast was acceptable, much better than dinner which was poor considering the supposed rating of the hotel. We did not have a hot meal for the whole of the holiday! Pool and poolside were good although there was no childrens pool. If it was windy, which it often was, there was no shelter as all the umbrellas were removed (why couldn't they have fixed umbrellas ?). The poolside bar was very noisy, the music being only fit for an Ibiza nightclub, it started from 9.30am until late as this was the only bar in the hotel. When we asked if the music could be changed they refused saying that this is the music we play. We will not be going to the Palm Beach again, a totally unfriendly non family orientated place

dont worry
after reading some of the reviews, i was thinking, what have i done? i found it clean, the pools are big enough to take the numbers , the food is a buffet style and its ok, you will live!, my kids liked it, although we did go out in the evenings to the local restaurants 5 min walk) will we go back? ........ yes, easter if open and the price is right... enjoy
Not 4 Star Category
Booked this through last minute and checked out reviews on this site before leaving we were therefore fairly well prepared for the fact that the Hotel did not come up to 4 Star Category - what we were not prepared for was the size of the complex which is huge and pretty scruffy - although the choice at breakfast was huge - on more than one occasions we had problems actually getting a table REgarding Dinner - We were also not aware of the fact that we had to eat betweern 6.30 and 7.3o pm because we had young children with us - had we known this we would not have booked the holiday - because we like to stay on the beach/poolside until 6 or 7 and then have a rest before eating as a result we we had to eat out every night adding a substantial cost to the holiday although the prices in the restaurants were reasonable - we did not therefore sample the food in the evening - the pool is very nice but very strongly clorinated and very very busy - the beach is lovely - much quieter - the resot of Agios Georgious is horrible - scruffy - very down market dont therefore go here is you are looking for a Greek Experience what you will get is tacky gift shops, karoke bars and loud bars - there are however some very good restaurants - Seagulls which is situated at the very end of the resort and another excellent restaurant which is the second restaurant on the beach side walking from the Hotel is lovely both have lovely beach view and the staff in both hotels could not have been nicer - the food in Seagulls is superior - you have been warned
