Atlantis Hotel

I stayed in the hotel Atlantis for 4 nights in October 2008 (2 mature couples). Hotel position is excellent, 2 double rooms (booked in advance via venere.com) comfortable and clean, great breakfast on the terrace. And above all, skilled and friendly personnel, willing to help. Our group of 4 included a 2 year old (in triple room with us) and a 60+ year old (single/double room). The location is fantastic for seeing the sights of Sultanahmet but don't give the address to a taxi driver and expect them to find it (ask for the blue mosque and walk from there, 5-10 mins). The hotel is on a pedestrian only street (which was a bit noisy at night depending on the room but not enough to wake anyone up). I am 21 and I stayed at The Atlantis Hotel with my partner who is 25 for a week at the start of July. We were extremely impressed by this hotel. It was excellent value for money and could not have been in a better location. We were within walking distance of all the top attractions saving both time and money travelling, as well as enabling the all important lunchtime naps when it got too hot during the day! Atlantis is located at the back of the Sultanahmet Tramvay station - means - it's a big advantage because the tramway is the transport of choice if you're not into expensive taxis. The hotel is near or stone-throw away from the Hagia Sophia, Yerebatan Sarnici & Blue Mosque. I booked a single room for 10 days at the Atlantis Hotel. It was a last minute booking and i was a bit concerned about my choice as this hotel has pretty bad reviews on this site. First of all the location is PERFECT with St Sophia/Blue mosque/basilica Cistern/Topkapı Palace which are no more that 5mins away. The tram is down the road and there is shop which sells everything at the corner of the road. I found this hotel accidentally browsing the internet. It is located in the MIDDLE of Sultanahmet, literally steps away from the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and the Grand Bazzar... The hotel is 3 star, but service is superb, the food is great (we had just breakfast) there is a HUGE variety of vegetables, fruit, cheese, olives, eggs not much meat (if any) but you surely won't be hungry. Ok ive just spent a long weekend in Istanbul and what a city! But a word of warning, DONT book this hotel. I was looking for a cheap one and this looked like it fitted the bill although having got there i think it defined a new meaning to the word budget. Biggest issue was simply the noise from the bars/restaurant/clubs nearby. It was impossible to get any sleep before 2am, the guy on charge refusing to move me to another room with the excuse that the hotel was fully booked (even though there were only 5 or 6 people ever seen at breakfast).... more

I stayed at Hotel Atlantis for 4 night...and I wouldn't stand another night!! When I bought the trip on line this hotel was described as a 3 stars, actually I haven't seen any star at all... the staff is not so friendly and a few speak english or other languages than turkish...we complained it was too cold in our room, they came and told us to switch on the conditioner so we asked if the normal heating didn't work and they said no. the room was always so damp that windows were dropping at any hour of the day..we left the conditioner on... more

It was the worst hotel we ever stayed. The triple room was so small that there was no space for three of us. So called "bathroom" was so small that it was impossible to close the door. Hotel staff refused to change the room as they were fully booked, though both of the neiboring rooms and many others were empty. In two nights we stayed there, for one day we had no water at all, though they were claiming that they had a water depot! Hotel atmosphere is very laid back, not the "over-friendly" staff like many other hotels, but they smile occasionally which I like in places I stay and enough to give the place some kind of atmosphere.
