We stayed at the Don Manolo in...

"We stayed at the Don Manolo in September 2005 and agree with most of the criticisms, apart from the food which was very good judging by some of the A/I`s we've stayed at, and we've stayed at many.

In fact it was the 3rd best in that respect, although some of the hotels were nicer. If you don't mind small basic rooms, it is an excellent base for the night life. Hotel entertainment in the evening was pretty bad. There seemed to be plenty for children to take part in during the day.

Hotel could definitely do with refurbishment, but as I have stated food was good, plenty of choice, we didn’t eat out at all like we have had to do in many hotels, both A/I and half board.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in....

"Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Outdated is an understatement. We arrived in the early hours and given the key, to a room no bigger than a shoebox at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park. The toilet was leaking and smelled very unpleasant.

We went to reception and asked to be moved and the receptionist said "you English you always complain"! We later learned that they and try and fob people off with that room every week.

The food was dreadful, cold, tasteless, we had to eat out although we were all inclusive. The noise at night was scary, I have to say we are in our 40's so maybe we made a bad choice but forget sleeping, shouting, swearing and carrying on all night every night for 14 of them!

Never ever again, we have been to Magaluf several times but never experienced anything like the Don Manalo - don’t go.

My and I went for our first all girls...

"My and I went for our first all girls holiday to this hotel in 2005. We thought that it was brilliant! Our rooms were right over the stage so we had a great view- the staff were funny but if we were too rowdy we were told!

The entertainment was okay- the parrot show was the best!! Also we played bingo every night which was great!!!

The food wasn’t bad but u should get in early to make sure its fresh!!

The pool was nice, lots of room. Loads of sun beds. Good location- close enough to walk to clubs but far enough to not be disturbed- recommend BCM for the foam party.

it was kind of a family hotel but in the summer its probably not the best place for a family holiday- but we had a great time.

Just read the reviews...is this the...

"Just read the reviews...is this the same hotel?....

Has this hotel gone downhill suddenly? We stayed here in 2004 and everything was superb... Good entertainment, archery, table tennis, shooting, water polo, plus food was varied and you could have whatever you wanted.

One over zealous group was removed from hotel as they were not deemed to be family orientated. Rooms no air con.(bad move) but hired a fan for 10 euro. Sorted! Snacks available until midnight, drinks as required.

5 minute walk into town/shops/restaurant area, plus 10 minutes to beach.

About to book for 2006, but am now wondering, can anyone else advise the quality?

Late Break

"Took my mom to the Don Manolo for a quite break at the end of September. We were just looking for a cheap all inclusive and this was it. Arrived quite late but still food available. The food varied a bit but was not very warm most days. Pool quite small but ok and beach not far away. Bars just round the corner and Pirates directly over road. No problems with room or hotel in general (just make sure if you're departing late in the day you need to book a slot in the shower in reception!!!) As we went quite late in the season was pretty empty, still had most entertainment and the staff tried to make the most of it bless them especially Jonny (very cute) and Rafa. Probably a lot better mid season, but a holiday is what you make it."

Great place

"this hotel was great, simlpe rooms but they were always tidied up...the food was nothing Flash but really nice. the location is perfect, you can lounge by the pool allday in the sun, or a very short walk into plalma or a short walk to magaluf on an evening. this is a hassle free hotel where you can enjoy your holiday without worring about anything."

My girlfriend and I have just got...

"My girlfriend and I have just got back from a shocking five nights stay at the Don Manolo. As we arrived at the hotel it looked old and dirty and all we could smell was urine. The room was dirty the beds had hair in them. There was dirty socks and rubbish left in the cupboards.

Once it came to meal times the food looked cold and unpleasant. Even though it was all inclusive they would only let guest have up to two drink per round and served them in plastic cups. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone and would only give it a 1*.

Its still 3 star....

"If you wanna get drunk every night, and then hit the town, then you got your hotel. If you want to eat well, clean rooms, and quiet in the evenings, I would suggest going to an old persons home. Fantastic for those in the right frame of mind, but to be fair, the food is shocking. We ate out 10 out of 14 nights, but always ended up back at the hotel to take advantage of all those free Vodka Oranges."

A decent visit!!!

"We have just returned from a weeks all inclusive visit to Don Manolo, and reading some reports wondered if we had made the right decision...but still travelled with an open mind.

On arrival, the hotel seemed black and dirty but on entering the reception area the image had totally changed. Its like walking into another hotel, clean and tidy looking.

As soon as we went to reception for check in, and throughout the holiday we considered the staff to be of an excellent service and were helpful throughout.

On entering the room, our first impressions were standard, but being a 3* hotel we wern't expecting anything more. Clean rooms and storage space to accomodate all of our possesions, including safes, which must be rented at reception for a small fee.

As we got there quite late, the last snacks were available from the restaurant which was ok if just a bit warmer. But that was the only meal that i disliked. The other meals were in my opinion to a high enough standard and plenty of choice throughout the day.

Some people complained about the small amount of sunbeds available by the pool side, but i thought there was plenty and was always some available at any time of the day.

The hotel is in walking distance of the main attractions, Aqualand, Western Water Park, Pirates and the main strip.

We only experienced one problem with out room, and that was the toilet started to leak when the chain was flushed. After reporting it to reception they sent a bloke out within the hour.

Overall i thought the Don Manolo was a great hotel and would definately reccomend it to those wishing to visit.

Thank you staff!!!!!!!

Happy Holidays to the Don Manolo!!!

never again !!

"After reading a few off the reviews was a bit worried about going. it was a last min all inclusive deal for myself and friend for a quick get away. where do i start: the entertainment was rubbish, bar staff rude, unhelpful, reception staff as the bar staff. It was meant to be a family hotel !!! it was full off single sexed groups, with some family parties, the noise from the hotel at night was a nightmare, from 4am onto 7am music blearing, shouting, things being thrown. how anybody could sleep though that, it should never include famillies should be a 18-30 holiday hotel.

the food was copable was always hot and plentiful staff were happy and helpful and included pic nic's if you were going to the beach for the day.

The alcohol was unrecognizable. i would never go there again.

I think comments other people have...

"I think comments other people have written are quite unreasonable.

I stayed in this hotel for seven days and found the hotel rooms very clean. We had maid service daily and most staff were friendly. Food was ok, not the Ritz but what do you expect from a three star hotel. There was plenty of sunbeds and plenty for the kids to do during the day. I would not recommend this hotel for families as you are right in the middle of the nightlife on the resort and it is a hotel for young people. There are a lot of twenties holiday groups. I think a holiday is what you make it and I had a fantastic time. Would definitely go back to this hotel and would recommend the resort of Magalluf.

The hotel itself is ideally located, next to Pirates, two water parks and go karting which can be seen from the hotel. The beach is beautiful and is only a five minute walk from the hotel. Clubs are two minutes away.

Anyone going to this hotel do not worry about other reviews, they are not true!!!
