Portobello Apartments

will not go back to the hotel to noisy for familys, staff at reception very un helpfull had to change rooms three times in one week. the pools were very good and the slides were amazing.but the rooms in the rooms in the j block are dirty.,

Me and my family have just come back from a brilliant 2 weeks.Stayed in k block which was a 2 bed 2 bath(1 ensuite)apartment could not fault it cleaned every day all staff there very helpful.Ignore the bad reviews PEOPLE HAVE TO REALISE that if you pay a bugdet price for your holiday you will given a bugdet room.The only thing i would advise is not too waste your money in the 2onsite bar/restaurants as much cheaper to walk down the road too the many restaurants , where you are expected to haggle and will probably get your kids meals for free.

got block F was absolutely filthy had 6 month old baby and was put on 1st floor, had leak from upstairs toilet sewage leaking down bathroom wall 4 times this need repairing said they would move us we had 2 rooms what they came up with to move our kids to another block and leave us there didn't care kids would be on there own, staff in big fingers was OK to start but as we weren't drinkers tried everything to rip us off and hassled you constantly caught members of staff taking drugs in the toilets on several occasions even did it in front of kids. large pool was dirty all residents was getting very sick with diarrhea and sickness sample was taken to there health and safety office they then closed the pool next day as filters had packed up and was not cleaning pool next day reopened but still not 100%. for the second week went to other pool and happy brothers restaurant was more relaxing didn't get hassled very clean and more family orientated fun and games around pool. £1 moonlight boat trip well worth it food included in the price well worth it, the water park on top of the hill excellent day out

I have absolutley no complaints regarding Portobello....arriving in Turkey to celebrate my 22nd bday, we turned up at Portobello after being told by Goldtrail that our apartments had changed!!!!!!!!!!! absolute nightmare. We arrived at Portobello, and explained the situation to the reception staff, they then went and got the manager. My friend was rather upset as Portobello had no reservations for us, the manager was very sensitive to the situation and assured us he would help.And he definetly did. He collected us drinks and arranged an apartment for us, the bellboy took our bags to F Block. Having to go up 3 flights of stairs was not good as i have severe knee probs but as i was soooo grateful for them allowing us to stay, this was not an issue. Entered the room and i was quite surprised, it was clean, spacious, the kitchen area had all the equipment required if u decided to stay in and cook. The fridge was also clean and done its job. The bathroom was clean, shower actually worked.It was really really hot in the room, but with all the doors and windows open we had a substantial amount of breeze. The balconey was clean, with additional table and chairs. The hotel overall was excellent, great if you have kids.Alot of facilities also professional photography, shops, Turkish bath facilities, Chinese restaurant etc. Pools seemed clean to me you have 4 to choose from, so surely at least one should be up to standard! Apparently the hotel was closed last year....due to unpaid tax debts. so who knows but what i do know is that i enjoyed my stay at Portobello, i did find the reception staff rude but any issues we had we went straight to the general mangager who was more than happy to help us.
I find the Turkish very friendly and id definetly return to Marmaris but not with GoldTrail Holidays, their aload of crap!!!!!!!!!

Well I have just returned from Club Potobello and all I can say is WOW!! it was a fantastic holiday, all the staff were extremly helpful and happy, we had a problem with the kettle and hot plates and they were both replaced within 15 minutes. I will be booking up for 2009 this week and already cant wait to go back.
dont be to disheartened about some of the reviews here because at the end of the day people go on holiday expecting things to go wrong and when one little thing does some people blow it out of proportion and cant wait to complain about it.
In my opinion the grounds are kept very clean, the appartments are kept clean although during busy times the cleaner can only do it every 2-3 days which is understandable for the size of the complex, it is very secure with security officers on every entry and exit and also patrolling the grounds all the time, it has everything you need on site so no need to venture out if your too hot and cant be bothered. the pools are huge and is plenty of room to splash and swin, if no sun loungers are available just tell the staff and they will find you some and put them where you want them, the only bad thing about this complex which is not the staff fault is people put towells on the sun loungers during the night and then leave them so no-one else can use them but all you do is on your way in from a night out pick up the towells and shot them in the pool because its unfair and you cant queue for a bus in bed so you also cant reserve your sun lounger so you can have an extra hour in bed, the slides in the pool are not bad there is 4 identical so you can race each other, there is a steeper one for speed and a twirley one for young children which doesn't go too fast.
This complex is close to two supermarkets (but there is also two markets on site) you have Megamarket and Migros with the latter being the biggest and are more likely to find what you want and it even has a McD's next to it which is open from 9am - 4am.
Taxi's from the Bazaar usually cost no more than 15 YTL but I have had 10 YTL because if you have been to Turkey you know how mad they drive.
Although prices are higher this year and the exchange rate is dropping it is still a good holliday just dont eat out every night if your on a budget as it isn't as cheap as before.
Final word Great holiday and cant wait to go back.

Abosolute disgusting hole!!! We were put in F block which apparantly is the worst. Our cleaners sometimes came at 8.50am and didnt knock just let themselves in. For a moment I thought I was on holiday!!!! They were also very light handed I had 2 pairs of earings and a bottle of nail varnish stolen. I mean there is only so much you can lock in the safe!! Also reception staff very rude and didnt want to know The room was very dirty with mould in the shower. The times the cleaners bothered to turn up they only occassionally changed towels and bedding otherwise just made the beds. Not once was the floor mopped or swept. We had friends stay in A block and apparantly if you tip your cleaner £10 then you get it cleaned a lot more often and thorough. I think we paid enough (safe & air con!). We also had other friends that had their room cleaned once in the whole 2 weeks! I have to say though that the staff at Big Fingers made our holiday and had it not been for them I am sure we would have wanted to go home after first day.
One word of warning - if you do happen to require a doctor DO NOT use the one at Portobello! He charged friends £200 to look at there childrens ezma and prescibe cream!! Their infections by the way was caused by the air conditioning units not working and the rooms were that hot the poor kids were up all night scratching. The doctor even told them to keep out of the pool as there was too much urine in it!! NICE... Also there was not a day go by where a few children and adults slipped by the pool as no mats were down apparantly they were taken away to be cleaned!

The Portobella apartments advertised as a idillic place to spend your time in Marmiris, well let me tell you my storey of woe. On arrival met by a reception that contained one Turkish guy who looked liked he'd not been off shift for the whole of the summer, sweating dirty and smoking the trade mark cigarette. After filling in the paper work as required we were ushered off to our block. On arrival on the third floor of C block, we entered to what has to be described as the worst apartments we have had the pleasure to entera room with a toilet haging off the wall, the wash basin not attatched to the wall, the bathroom dirty and to top it off bedding that should have been white, was grey. So if You are a family who like a dirtlyy place to stay, choose C block.

I did stayed at this hotel in July and I absolutely loved it.
I was given F block . however I wasnt happy about that after reading that that many bad reviews on the net but when arrived the room, i was surprised.....
the towels and sheets were clean. batroom was spotless and air-con was working, I honestly couldnt find a fault for my room even being in the F Block....
I stayed at F Bloc for two weeks and loved it.. my room was tidied up everyday and towels and sheets are changed every three days.
had some problems however guest relation and reception sorted them out for us. Guest relation and reception were helpful and friendly
As generally speaking i cannot fault this hotel at all and this FAMOUS F BLOCK IS NOT AS BAD AS PEOPLE DESCRIBED . I would deff recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a family holiday..

i dont understand why people are compaining and givind bad reviews about the F block....
when we arrived at the reception we didnt that log at all. Our room was ready and bellboy took us there straight away. We stayed at the F block. F 216 and to be honest before I walked it i was a bit scared about thre bad reviews that block has on the net however when i get in i was surprises. The room was spotless ... Sheets, towels, batroom kitchen ... I couldnt find a fault.
When I first arrived and found out that they gave us the F Block I wanted to complain straigt away as there were lots of complaints about the F BLock, but I wanted to see it before I made a complaint and I was wrong...
My room was tidiup up everyday bins are emptied and towels and sheets are changed every three days. I had couple of problems however guest relation sorted them out for me and reception was also really helpul even they speak little english.....
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I booked my holiday for next year at the same hotel again

I stayed at this hotel in July 2008 and absolutely loved it.I dont know why people are complaining about the F block. When we arrived it was all clean and lovely , smelt fresh. my room is cleaned everyday and towels and sheets are achenged every three days.
Please do not take any bad comments about F block becase its nothing like that.
