Portobello Apartments

This hotel is brill, i would recommend this to anyone especially thoses with children, the swimming pools were very clean and rooms were cleaned and tidied daily, fresh towels and bedding. The staff are really friendly especially 'crazy waiter psycho and bigman' they were fab.
The slides are great fun and were supervised, there is a gate at the bottom of the steps which was locked at night so nobody could use them.
After reading the reviews on here before we went on 29th june i was nervous and wondered what the hell i had done booking this hotel...all i can say is try it for yourself your holiday is what you make it. ingnore all the s**t that has been put on here and experience it for yourself.
We stayed in K block with a pool view from the balcony and from the bedroom window we could view the slides and bar,the balcony was big.
Yes we did have a power cut which lasted for approx 1hr during the day but to be fair who goes on holiday to sit in the appartment....not me! do you???? and to be honest who cares what the rooms look like as long as they are clean, tidy and you can prepare food,sleep and get a shower daily after all this is a 2star hotel you get what you pay for which in my oppinion was superb!!!!!
I can not rate this place enough it was just fantastic and it was only 5mins walk from the beach....we have only been home two weeks and we cant wait to go back next year.
There was entertainment on everynight which was really good.
The staff were really friendly with us and loved the children, they will do anything for you, they are entertaining and always happy and chatty even though they work 14-15hours every single day.

I had booked this apartments as my family stayed there 4 yrs ago and said it was brilliant i have three young children aged 4 and twins at 2yrs we arrived and at first was impressed with the room then first day couldnt believe the state of the kids pool only words was disgusting then the electic kept going off in the mrnig nto late in the afternoon was told by H4U and reception it was a local council issuse we put up with this for 5 days and as they electric conrolled the water we was going with out both electric and water then finally on the friday H4U agreed to move everyone in the hotel to different accomadtion they started doing this at 2.30 in the afternoon they showed use around some apartments which i wouldnt put my dog in let alone my children we had no chance but to exspect the club viva which was all inclusive yeah sounds good but trust me just as bad
I have a big compalint going on with H4U at the moment and would love to hear from anyone elese who was there at the sometime as use from the 8/6/09 as what they offred me today was joke and would love to compare and maybe get togeather and make a bigger complaint

Having just returned from Marmaris I can confirm again that Portobello is one of the best complex in Marmaris. The Complex was much more busier this time but the staff managed this fantastic, great team work, high sprits. Even when full of visitors everything was maintained to the high standards earlier as the month before. Clean pools, toilets, food areas.
Again, GREAT PLACE TO STAY! I'd recommend to all!

On our first night there was a fire in the old block. We then had problems with water, electric and the staff. Next the hotel manager was actually shot by some Turks who just walked into the hotel. We had to get out of the hotel so quickly by the rep that we left things in our rooms in the panic like gifts etc. we didn;t get our money back for the air con and safe boxes nor could we get our stuff back which we had left in our rooms.
From start to finish it was a complete nightmare. we have been before many times and there have been no problems, but this time was unbelievable!
We have a complaint in for compensation as this was an absolute disgraceful holiday. How people can say there were no problems around the same time is beyond me!

we have just came back from our holiday to portobello gardens and had the best time ever the staff were lovely and really friendly the were a creit to themselves i know the beginging of june they had problems but a new manerger has now taken over, the hotel was beautiful we stayed in k block the rooms were clean and tidy the pools were a good size with plenty of sun beds there was 3 large slides which the kids enjoyed, evening entertainment was really good and the food was lovely, the complex ws a short walk to the beach i would highly recommend this hotel and cant wait to go back

im just a bit puzzled at lucy-marmaris review as i went here for 2 weeks at the beginning of june 2009 the holiday was a complete nightmare there was no hot water at all the elctric AND water went off every day, no entertainment at all their was a fire at the complex and then we, along with the rest of the complex had top be re-located because the local government would not switch back on the electric and water as the hotel was in alot of dept so how she gave it a good review ill never know. It was very frustrating as we stopped here last year and it was fantastic but this year was hell. I am now in the process of claiming back compensation as the holiday was a complete nightmare. and just for the record all the companies that was selling it have now pulle out and are not selling it at the moment

I have just returned from a week at the Club Portobello Apartments. I was feeling positive reading the recent reviews added this yr but still felt over impressed with every aspect of these apartments. I would highly recommend these to all.
The place is beautiful, great staff, rooms, cleaned daily, clean towels everyday if not every other day.
Place - It has 2 large pools, With 3 slides in between them. Both pools are clean. Both have a bar and staff that will wait on you all day. The food and drinks were fair prices. The same bars also serve evening meals, the food was beautiful, my boyfriend trusted the staff to choose him something Turkish, I'm terribly picky with food myself but his meal was delicious.
The staff cannot help you enough, we all know the rumours about the Turkish hitting on the ladies, Blonde one's at that, getting to know some of the English speaking waiters, this is not the case! At all. All the staff was very friendly and professional.
I was in a standard 1bedroom apartment. It is the same as any I've had before, they are basic but they do the job. Talking around the pool, the 2bedroom apartment is very spacious, including 2bath rooms. There's 3new block recently built which are all kitted out with brand new furniture and very modern.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I found great pictures on the Thomson's web site.
I also visited the local Aqua park while there, When you have 3slides on your complex there's not much more you need, but... It was around 35TL, we brought our tickets from an agent based 200m from the apartments, Jack. They provided a lift too and from the water park. The water park has around 6-7 slides. Fun day out with plenty of sun beds which are free. Lockers Free. Only down side they did check bags on the way in for food and drink, which they are willing to return at the end of the day but you cannot take in the park...
The Apartments are located about 400-500m from the main road, which has all the shops and restaurants. The shops have many different copies of designers, Ed Hardy, Adidas, and Chanel... Most of the restaurants offer a 3-course deal for around 13TL. This is about £6-£7, for that you have a choice of soups with Turkish bread and Mezes (garlic butter, salsa/relish like and mint sauce) then any chicken, pasta or pizza (steak was usually included for 19TL) then after either, ice cream, fresh fruit, shot, tea or coffee. I highly recommend Adam and Eve's, again great staff and tremendous food.
As you will get from this report I cannot rate the place highly enough. I am returning to Marmaris next week but stopping down the road (2nd holiday was booked before the 1st - Sadly as I wish I was returning to Portobello) Hopeful Club Ilayda will be as nice, but doubtful as I have never stopped anywhere so beautiful, nice, friendly and clean...
I'm recommending this hotel to all, couples, families, girls and guys. Maybe not so much for those whole struggle with stairs as the complex is built lower down but there is one lift!

Just been to the Portabello and I am pleased to say its now been bought by one man who owns the whole complex ,bars included with a view to turning the complex around from the bad reports.It was just starting to open for the season. We met the manager and who took us on a tour round the complex rooms etc. and I must say it is now spot on. The pools areas are immaculately clean as is the whole complex. I must say the bar staff are very friendly and all seem committed to getting everything just right so for anyone wishing to book but have their reservations after reading past reviews I would say definitley give it a go now as you will be surprised at the improvement the newmanagement has made.

I stayed at Portobello for one week and found the apartments immaculate. I had to be moved the third day due to refurbishment but was helped with my luggage etc to the new room, which turned out to be two bedroomed. As I was on my own, it was brilliant cos i had loads of room and it felt like 5 star accommodation. I have been to turkey several times and recently went in august 2008 with my friend for 2 weeks. I told her we should have booked the portobello as they were much better than the ones we stayed in. I didnt have much contact with the staff and didnt use the restaurant so i cant comment on that, however the ones i did speak to were very helpful and i shall be staying at these apartments in the future!

i went to stay at the portobello in sept.we were in k block which was really clean andwell maintained.we had a view of the slides.at night kids and adults used to go up all hours in the morning full of alcohol no body ever said anything to them they were all to bizzy trying to get the next girl in to bed with them.the music and noise carried on all night long to about 4am.the guys in the bar work very hard but they are out looking for one thing only.they wont take no for a answer either my 4 yrs old daughter was shy of them but they wouldnt leave her alone after been asked10 times they just used to upset her .dont eatin the bar the cats love to live in the kitchens they do as they wish and are ful of fleas.somebody in the travel buissness wants to get something done about the saftey on the slides instead of just wanting to take poples money.my husband cut 4 fingers open on the slide due to some sharp fibre glass .he had blood dripping everywhere nad nobody offerd to help just a lady who works in handbag shop called angel whos a loverly lady (thanks hun )....
