Hotel of choice when in Istanbul

Yes, it is a long way away from the airport. But $22 TL (approx) isn't bad. The staff has always been very kind. The trip in June 2009, front desk staff was a bit stand offish, but the quality was still very nice. The food is very good. The 15th Floor Bar and Lounge is very nice. Hotel carries a very nice selection of adult beverages. The staff is very accommodating. Even went to the extent on the May Trip that a friend wanted Jim Beam but we had arrived late and the 15th floor was already closed. So the down stairs bar crew went...

The hotel bills itself as an airport hotel but it is not all that close to the airport and the shuttle runs infrequently. We had to take a taxi both too and from the airport costing at least $10 each way when our entire reason for staying there was the alleged proximity to the airport and free shuttle. The staff we complained to didn't speak English well and didn't heed to the "customer is always right" philosophy. Because it is far from everything, one is forced to eat the overpriced food. Good Hotel but staff is very Surly!

I like Holiday Inns in general, but this one desperately needs to put their staff through some customer service training. I found them inefficient, rude and surly about it. Hotel building it very new with free internet access and free airport shuttle (although infrequent, make sure to get times from hotel!) is great. This Hotel is in the middle of nowhere and is only good for stopovers.

Hotel is ok, rooms are clean and up to date. Service stuff is selfish, unprofessional, unfriendly Check out needs time, unprofessional, unfriendly - chaotic If you come with your own car very difficult to find, no indication for help, wrong information from Hotel stuff. No windows to open
Comfortable but Inconvenient Location

The HI Istanbul north hotel is very clean and comfortable and a wonderful place to overnight if you are flying out the next day. As others have said, though, it's located in an industrial zone and there is literally *nothing* of use to travellers nearby. The restaurants at the hotel are very good but extremely expensive: 17 lira for a club sandwich, 17 lira for a cappuccino, 5 lira for butter and jam and 7 lira for a small coke. Very nice hotel, great restaurant, but long way from airport

Stayed here for one night, as would most people staying at an airport hotel. The hotel itself is very nice, clean and comfortable, with helpful staff. The Ottoman restaurant offered excellent food, but the service was slightly surly and unfriendly. The hotel staff were fine, very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and functional with a nice bathroom. The only real drawback for a hotel calling itself an airport hotel..is the distance from the airport itself. One of the better Holiday Inn airport hotels Good location for airport: ten minutes by courtesy bus. Free internet access. The rooms are clean and have free internet access. Good airport hotel, if you are catching an early plane, or are having a business meeting.
Great for Overnight Transit

We stayed just a single night at the hotel whilst connecting to our next flight. The hotel is about a ten minute (circa 20 Turkish Lira) ride away from the airport and as others have said is in an isolated location a considerable way from the centre of town. The standard of the hotel is excellent and the king bedded room we stayed in was superb - far better than the usual Holiday Inn affair. Now where shall i begin. This hotel is totally removed from the city. It takes anywhere from 26YTL to 52YTL to reach the city centre where all the good restraunts are. This place has no decent restraunts near by - thereby are forced to drive to Taksmi or Sultan Ahmed to eat out (or) rely on the 3 in-house options: Saltanat: They say it is ottoman food - but seriously limited in variety Tulip: Well they dont even have Falafel on their menu - (I am not even asking for Japanese or Thai) So I guess you are better off staying...

Excellent Business Hotel

An excellent business oriented hotel. My wife and I stayed one night in transit to our next day flight. This is unlike any Holiday Inn I have stayed in the States, it is more akin to a (very) high end Marriott or Westin hotel. It helps that it is brand new, even so if they can maintain the decor, etc. this will be a good long term option for business visitors to Istanbul.
