I have just got back from the Paloma Hotel in Gumbet after a weeks holiday with the girls (aged 20-24) and we all loved the hotel. It's advertised as a 2* but we all agreed it was definitly a 3* Hotel.
We stayed half board and the food was lovely, though very turkish (this wasn't a problem for us, but if you want chips., burgers etc don't come here). Breakfast was traditional turkish breakfast and somewhat basic compared to other half board hotels (boiled eggs, turkish ham and cheese, tomato, cucumber, cereal, bread and jam, yoghurt and honey) and the same everyday, but very edible. Dinner consited of one portion of meat or fish, and two other hot dishes (potatoes, pasta, veg etc) then a wonderful array of turkish salads. We all really enjoyed this, but as i said very turkish.
Our room was spacious and very clean, the bathroom was lovely and modern and we had no problems with the room what so ever, it was very comfortable.
The staff at the hotel were lovely (apart from a very grumpy man on reception). There were langauge barriers as some of the bar staff didn't speak much english but then others did and they were all very friendly and worked hard. Noah on reception in the night was also really lovely.
The location was ideal for us, with clubs just round the corner, bars down the road and the beach just 5 minutes away. Although the hotel was close to the action, you couldn't hear any noise from the hotel, the hotel itself was quiet, in a good way.
The only annoying thing about the Paloma Hotel is the fact that no food or drink from outside the hotel is allowed in the hotel, however this is generally the case with most half-board hotels and we did sneak in water and beer as it was slightly cheaper at the supermarket directly across from the hotel.
Outside of the hotel i would really suggest Molly Malones, a bar with live entertainment every night (including many fit men dancing) and an extensive cocktail menu with most menu's £4 or £5 each.
Overall we really loved our holiday in gumbet and would definitly visit the Paloma again. We miss it already.
