Guzel Izmir Oteli

we stayed three weeks in Turkey, a country were i used to work for some months. This hotel was the worst i ever stayed in in turkey !!!! we really had a horrible night thinking someone would enter the room... the hotel is old and people not very friendly... it was recommend by lonely planet !!!! but it's just terrible !!! the area is quite scary at night, no woman in the street... luckily we speak a little bit Turkish so we could manage !!!! but it was horrible !!! we had an early morning plane to catch in Izmir, so no... more

We stayed here (luckely) just one night, but was just enough. The room is VERY SMALL, the bed takes all the room, The room is VERY DIRTY, there was no sheet, and the towels were dirty. The bathroom was dirty and very small, and with a terrible smell. There was a pair of slippery, yeah, but used. I will not recomand it to NOBODY. Don't stay at this hotel.

Our stay in Guzel Izmir Hotel was very good. It is a budget hotel, so we didn't expect much. So the rooms were very simple, but clean, the bathrooms were good as well. What is definitely good is that the hotel is located very in the center of Izmir, 5 minutes walk from the train station. The rooms have air conditioners and what is good for business people and some tourists as well free Wi-Fi. Oh, the hotel also has elevator. İ stayed at the Guzel İzmir Hotel for three weeks and loved ıt. The girl that works at the front desk was EXTREMELY helpful and spoke perfect English. I easily found my way around the city and got a lot of ideas ınto seeing places that only a local would know about...The staff was friendly and I had lots of fun practicing my basic Turkish. İ felt lucky to have met such good, honest people. The area where the hotel is situated is at the heart of the city and I could walk to any location easily. We are a young American couple who went to Turkey to do a lot of sightseeing. We stayed in Izmir at the Guzel Izmir Oteli for two nights, hoping to use it as a base to explore Bergama and Ephesus. We were traveling on a budget and hoping to spend no more than 70 USD on our stay here. We booked directly with the hotel through their website. My stay in Guzel Izmir Oteli for 2 weeks was wonderful. The location of the hotel is in the center (close to everything). The room was very clean & quite, very safe, the staff was very friendly. You can not ask for better price I highly recommend. I thank them for being great host, and I look forward to go back soon.

I booked through a hostel site and was quite surprised how well this little hotel turned out. It is a family run operation. The owner and his daughter spoke well enough English and French to help me get around town, go to resorts, and help me shop.

I was only in Izmir one night and booked this hotel through a hostel website, It wasn't a hostel, it was a run of the mill cheap hotel. My room was small and clean, but definitely no frills. None of the hotel staff spoke English. The location was good, as the International Fair was walking distance. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Just so your readers don't have to judge from only one review: I have stayed twice in this hotel with my wife who is disabled. The rooms are very basic (even though we were given one of the "best" ones). The hotel is in an old building, and the bathrooms etc reflect this. There is a lift, and free coffee/tea whenever you want to go down to the lobby. Practically no English is spoken, but everyone tries to help. Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is a very basic turkish hotel but the staff are friendly enough and it is cheap. It is round the back streets near Basmane part of Izmir. It did not seem to me to be the safest part to stay but was fine if you were indoors before dark!! Lots of men hanging around in the streets in the Kahve and Barber shops. Would not recommend this for females on their own otherwise no problems. The hotel was clean enough - towels supplied and flip flops for the bathroom.
