Can Garden Hotel

Being a travel agent I know the sort of complaints and quarms clients have, both before and after holidays. Some are totally irrelevant and some are worth noting. I'm not sure if my problems are worth taking into consideration, as to me a holiday is a holiday and it is to be enjoyed. Some people however, like to take the bull by the horns and really make something of nothing (especially those who have too many holidays for their own worth!). Hotel is wonderful. Grounds are beautiful. All the staff are lovely and made us feel very welcome. We did not want to leave. We wil definately go back.

we arrived at the hotel at approx 10 pm to a very disorganised reception.we waited several minutes before we were sorted out.At that point we were told we could not have any drink from outside the hotel only allowed the drink from the mini bar which are quite expensive. This was our first trip to Side and we loved it. Side town has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the turkish people were really friendly. We did however find it a little more expensive than other parts of turkey. The hotel was in an excellent location. A few minutes walk and you were beside the ampitheatre, museum and town. A taxi or dolmus could be found just a few moments away from the hotel. Stayed at Can Garden Hotel (not to be confused with The Can Garden Resort Hotel) October 2007. The hotel itself was average, the best thing about it was the location, surrounded by the ruins and just a 5 minute walk into Side, although this made it quite noisy if your "lodge" happened to back onto the road. There are 2 hotels called Can Garden in Side - this is a review of the one on the beach, with bungalow accommodation. After a lot of searching on the net, this hotel seemed to have all we were looking for - and most importantly, a very central location in Side itself. We were not disappointed. The bungalow / chalet we stayed in slept 2-3, with a double bed and a single, a minibar fridge, TV (limited channels), small bathroom and verandah with table and chairs. booked this hotel in the last month & got stung for £400 /head/week...if you book back in Jan you can get the same deal for £125/head/week ....hotel is only two years old is quite smart & very clean...couldn't fault the place on this count...we had a family room which was perfect as the kids had a room to themselves, 2 fridges & 2 TV's to watch the single Engilsh channel on....5 star it ain't ...so don't go expecting the Hilton in Dubai...more like 4 on a good day...food was very good....but don't turn up for the last sitting of breakfast... more

The location was good but did not like the hotel very much, the rooms were very small and it felt like sleeping in a shed! our toilet broke twice, we had no hot water and the door did not lock from the inside, after calling reception it took them two days to fix these problems each time. This is a very German area, not that I have anything against them but most of the Turkish there speak German and very little English. Last week of May 2007 - Weather was wonderful - hot during the day needed a jumper at night time. Hotel Can Garden (pronounced Jan Gardens) was a mix of wooden or brick built cabins that sleep 2-3 people, rooms have air conditioning, TV, good shower - no plug in sink (normal for Turkish establishments). Safety deposit box for hire. Basic but clean and tidy. Lovely, well kept gardens, friendly staff. Good size swimming pool- water warm and clean but no shallow end. Beautiful new hotel. Immaculately clean. Rooms very nice, all furnitiure new and matching. TV, shower, bath, fridge, hairdryer and ample wardrobe space. Safe 7 euro's per week. Excellent value. Food I did not like but never went hungry. Breakfast - cereals, boilded/scrambled/fried eggs, fruit juices, fruit and the bread is to die for. Lunch and evening meals I thought were poor.
