Nice 4 star hotel in San Antonio bay (prob best in the area) which is away (300mtrs) from main town so noise levels from the 'party/bar zone' is low ensuring a good nights sleep. Rooms are clean and typical spec' but a bit below the average for a 4 star. Pool bar has good... more

This hotel is definitely a jewel. I have read other reviews about meals being not so good but this is simply not true. The meals and restaurant were a real treat. The breakfasts are huge in choice and never change because they offer everything you could imagine in meats cheeses cooked foods, fruits, breads. Dinners were also very good and varied on a huge buffet. The restaurant like the hotel itself is very well run. The cleaners are everywhere in the hotel and efficient. I really liked that. Now the beds in the rooms are a bit firm but I got used to this. The hotel location is actually facing the sea front by steps. Its only 20 mins walk from the S.Antonio. centre or 20 mins walk the other way will take you to some great Karaoke bars. Check in staff at reception were all nice and really helpfull. This hotel is excellent and a real treasure.
So Helpful!
I stayed at the Bellamar with my sister for 3 nights in the beginning of June and loved it. We'd booked our trip independently and so arrived at the hotel really early, at around 11 am. We asked to leave our luggage there while we went out, but they said that our room was ready and we could check in, which really suprised us. We had a twin room on the 1st floor. It was beautifully clean with air con and a small balcony. The bathroom had a shower over the bath and a large sink/dressing table and toilet and bidet. They advertise the rooms as "sound-proof" which may be true from noise outside but people in the rooms next door and corridors were heard quite easily. The maid came to clean and change the towels every day. We stayed B&B and ate breakfast twice. They had a good range of semi-English Breakfast, cereal, toast and pastries. It was ok, but the orange juice from the machine was revolting. Tea and coffee was fine and the restaurant was well staffed and clean too. The hotel was really well managed and had loads of gorgeous fresh flowers everywhere. The pool was L-shaped and had around 50 sunbeds around it. We sun-bathed on two days and had no trouble in getting two adjacent loungers at about 1130 am (although it was early season). We also ate lunch from the pool bar a few times. They had a nice menu and the food was tasty and reasonably priced (approx. 20 Euros for two large diet cokes and two garlic chilli prawn dishes with french stick). On our last day we left our luggage in their room (for a few Euro charge) and the very friendly lady in reception said that when we wanted to leave we could use towels from the reception and get showered and changed in their changing rooms. Thay also had a gym and a spa but we never got round to checking those out. The hotel seemed to cater for a range of age groups. We are in our early 20s and there were several people our age there, but we also saw young families and lots of people our grandparents age. The bar was quite quiet and seemed like it would suit older people a bit more. San Antonio Bay was a bit of a let down as it was quite tacky, although we walked into San Antonio every day along the promenade. We found that one of the best sunset bars was SunSeaBar about 5 minutes further around the coast from Cafe Mambo. We ate there most nights for the sunset (around 9pm) then came back via all the other bars! Our favourite bars were Cafe Mambo, M bar (has a Nandos), Beach Cafe bar (also good food) and Bull Bar behind M bar which has a rodeo bull and pool tables and buy-one-get-one-free drinks. There was a really nice cove beach which you can access off the promenade just to the northeast of the harbour. The water there looked amazing for snorkelling but unfortunately we ran out of time. While we were there we also went scuba diving with the Arenal Diving school who are based on the promenade. It was 60 Euros each and we got all the basic tuition, speed boat trip and equipment for that and were under for about 35 mins. It was a once in a lifetime trip and the instructor also took underwater photos with a very good camera which you could buy for 30E per person (he says that this is for 30 photos but gave us 95). The holiday itself was very very good and we would definitely recommend going to San Antonio and Bellamar again!
Fab
Just returned from a week in Ibiza staying at the Bellamar - brilliant hotel, exactly as shown in the photos. Rooms were clean and spacious enough, maids came every day to change towels etc. Staff were all very freindly and helpful. We stayed half board so got breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was the same every day which wasnt too bad as you had a variety - cereal, fruit and the usualy english breakfast. Dinner was varied throughout the week and you also get desert. I didnt think I would eat much of the food as I'm a very fussy eater but the food was good and we ate there every day. Pool area wasnt that big whuch meant you had to be up early to get a sunbed. The beach is directly infront of the hotel so we went to the beach every day - sunbeds were 4 euros. There is a shop next door to the hotel where u can get drinks and snacks etc. Hotel is ideally located about a 10 min walk along the sea front to the night life "the west end" as its called. We got a cab back in the evening which cosot between 5-6 euros. Drinks in bars and clubs were a bit expensive 26 euros for 3 dinks in Bar Mambo. Drinks were alot cheaper in the hotel bar. Ibiza town was about 45 mins bus ride away - worth going to have a look, some nice views there. One of the girls at the hotel reception told us where to get the bus as it was alot cheaper (1.60) compared to a cab which was 28 euros. The hotel offers massages which we had one day 45euros for an hour, wasnt that great wouldn't recommend.
hotel okay
The Bellamar is a pleasant hotel and if you have a front room, the views of the pool and sea are great. The busy road is a bit noisy when around the pool, but you do get used to it. The staff are very pleasant, especially the lady at the reception, who spoke a huge number of languages, she recommend us restaurants, walking routes and was just so helpful. The bar area is a real let down - bright lights, empty (could have been because it was end may). Evening food is very average and wouldn't recommend it. Would definitely recommend the hotel as good value for money, but wouldn't recommend San Antonio Bay. We choose San Antonio Bay as opposed to San Antonio as we were told it was the more upmarket end!! It's not!! They still believe all that we want to eat is chips, pizza and general rubbish, much is run down and very depressing. There are more beautiful places on the island than San Antonio Bay. For the best Tapas visit Ricondo Pepe in San Antonio - fantastic!
lovely hotel
I stayed in Ibiza for a couple of nights and this hotel was just what I was looking for. The room was comfortable, the location was good, close enough to walk to the action but far enough away that you could get some sleep! Breakfast was great with a wide buffet choice of hot and cold food including pastries, egg and bacon, fresh bread, cheese and cold meats. The pool area was nice and the lounge / bar area was good too. Didnt have time to check out the spa but it looked great.
Beautiful Bellamar!
Fantastic hotel. We had a great time here for a week and would have loved to have stayed longer. The staff were really helpful and sorted out all our problems we had with our tour operator and couldn't have been more accomodating. Room was lovely and the view was great (lovely Ibiza sunset), but ask for a room at the front of the hotel so you can see more of the sea, pool and sunset. Bar area was a bit of a let down. Very bright lights and little ambience and no entertainment (maybe because it was the start of the season). This is one of the best in San Antonio.
Excellent Hotel
We stayed at the Bellamar in San Antonio Bay early September, from choosing the hotel from Tripadvisor reviews we were not disappointed with the outcome. The hotel is spotlessly clean, modern and very professional. The rooms are modern with a nice bathroom including hairdryer, shampoo, soap etc. The room has a fridge and TV (only Sky News in English) if your Spanish is good, there are some decent films to watch. We were lucky enough to get a balcony facing onto the bay (requested at booking, eventhough I did not pay for the privilege). We did not have any problems with noise from outside or in the corridors. The lounge area is again very modern, clean & spacious, with a decking area leading onto the pool terrace with nice seats. The food is excellent, a large variety of foods. Breakfast 8.00-10.00 consisted of cold meats/cheeses/Rolls/Cereals/Cakes/Fruit/English Breakfast. Dinner was served 20.00-22.00 again with all the range, Salad/Soup/Meats/Veg/Specials with show cooking eg paellas, a whole pig was carved one night, individually cooked steaks etc. Ice Cream/Fruit/Cakes/Cheese & Crackers. Having a 1 year old, the dinner is too late, it would be handy if they had an earlier sitting. I have stayed at numerous hotels with varying qualities around the world, I can honestly say that this is the best allround hotel I have stayed in, definitely serving the best food. The entertainment is pretty none existent, apart from a singer with acoustic guitar one night. The service is excellent with very friendly staff. There is a beach towel hire service, for 10euro deposit you can hire a nice beach towel and can exchange it as many times as you like. The spa looks nice, but did seem quite expensive. San Antonio is a 20 minute walk along the promenade, there is a short-cut past the hotel Hawaii entrance which brings you out at the childrens playground on the promenade. There is a boat which runs approx every 30mins outside the Hawaii (2 euro each), this is good when returning from San An when you can’t be bothered to walk back. There is also a regular bus service right outside the hotel into San Antonio, also to the nice beaches of Cala Bassa & Cala Conta. The bus into Ibiza Town runs from the main terminus in San Antonio (buy your ticket at the kiosk). There are restaurants, café’s, bars & shops around the hotel with a larger choice further around the bay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to couples, I don’t think its really a place for kids to run around, eventhough the staff were brilliant. There were a few guests who thought they were better then everyone else, but you get that everywhere. The taxi’s to/from the airport are 25-35euro depending on the time, with no problems booking from the hotel reception. (there is also a rank on the street behind the hotel) Having stayed at a few places in San Antonio, the Bellamar is the best. Also booking the holiday myself using discount airlines & booking through internet hotel agents, we saved around £350 compared to a much lower standard “package” deal, with a lot less hassle. (no pushy reps trying to earn commission or the airport bus which tours the island before it gets to your hotel). To make your holiday extra special, stay at the Bellamar and enjoy all the comforts and atmosphere of this great hotel.
Take earplugs if you're sleeping in
I originally checked the hotel reviews here before booking the Bellamar - the reviews weren't entirely wrong - the hotel isn’t full of lads, it’s clean, with a decent pool and close to the dog-end littered beach for convenience. It’s also only a fifteen-minute stroll down to San Antonio’s main square. If you're a family and planning to go to the Bellamar hotel whilst keeping regular sleeping hours, then I'm sure you'll have a nice ‘average’ break. However, if like us you're planning on going to bed after 6am (post-clubbing) then forget it; this hotel's cleaning staff shout up corridors, laugh and bang walls so much you'll be cursing them with a pillow over your head, not to mention wasting the sunshine outside on missed sleep. I would advise refusing to stay in any rooms ending in a '18'. The reason for this advice is that these rooms are nearest both the lift shaft and the cleaning supplies room on each floor - this means that you get exposed to the noise of everybody staying on the floor and additionally the maids going loudly back and forth each morning. Your bed’s headboard will also back onto the wardrobe of the guests in rooms ending in ‘17’ (due to the hotel's floorplan) which can result in loud knocking on the wall from coat hangers etc. The maids seem to make no effort to take notice of 'do not disturb' signs hung on your door handle and ‘accidentally’ bang the door outside with brooms and trolleys, knocking the walls of the room on either side when cleaning adjacent rooms. Additionally, the whole hotel has tiled floors; none of the chairs or beds has rubber feet… all around us the maids and guests would drag furniture around like there was no tomorrow which was excruciating. Often it seemed so extreme that we were convinced it was a deliberate ploy to get us up. We confirmed with the guest of room 519 (in a local pub) that his room was also very noisy due to dragged furniture (and he said he was usually deaf in one ear!). Do take earplugs if you want some sleep past 8am. There’s very little noise from outside in the street or on balconies unless you’re staying August 24th for the St Bartholomew’s day firecrackers at 8am. Most balconies seem to have an acceptable view of the sea or the bright lights of San Antonio. The Bellamar hotel claims on its literature that each room is soundproofed, but I think the only thing they have done to that end is limit the volume on the television remote beyond one third of the way up the screen (sensible). Not so sensible however is the one and only English channel ‘Sky News’ – which seems to have only twenty minutes of new footage per day. German MTV does have the odd English programme like ‘Hogan Knows Best’ but when preparing to go out I would have preferred to watch Rambo 2, Soldier of Fortune and Bay Watch in English rather than Spanish. With so many English guests, four German language channels seems a bit of a strange selection. In terms of food, we only made breakfast twice, on both occasions the selection and quality was average / acceptable. A lot of tinned food seemed to be used – such as tinned mushrooms and tomatoes. This also seemed to be the case for some cooked vegetables at dinner – the overall selection again being average and desserts lacked chocolate! We always made dinner though and did find the odd delicious freshly cooked dish on occasion. The waiters are a bit desperate to get your plate off you, don’t put your fork down for too long to take a drink or you’ll find yourself wrestling with them to get it back... at least they’re polite though - not overly friendly anywhere in the hotel, no small talk, just enough to get their jobs over with so they can go home. In the basement of the Bellamar is the 'Wellness Centre' which has a gymnasium, indoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi - however, these are not free to use by guests. On enquiry we were told it would cost us 15 euros for twenty minutes (around £10) - quite expensive when most other 'four star' hotels would include this in the price. When we went down to investigate the whole area was empty. On a final note do bear in mind that taxis cannot be booked at the Bellamar, you have to hail one on the street corner and ask it to go to your hotel to collect cases. I think this is probably not unique to the Bellamar in Ibiza but did find it odd that they hadn’t got a private deal with somebody local. I had to wait on the main road to San Antonio for a cab to the airport and then chase it up the road to see where it dropped off – a bit stressful if you’re worried about catching a flight back home.
Fantastic Hotel, Great Location
Having been coming to stay on this beautiful island for over 14 years and always around the San Antonio bay area this is without a doubt the best one I have stayed in. The hotel is very clean. Chambermaid service is 7 days a week. We stayed in room 525 which offered a view of a sunset most evenings if the sky permitted it. Air conditioning in the rooms at no extra cost, also the mini fridge is open at all times to place bottles of water, drink etc at no extra charge. The only down side was that the TV in the rooms only offered 1 English speaking channel which was Sky News, the rest German and a few Spainish. The pool area is very clean, along with the pool. If do wish to have a sunbed, recommend you get down early to put your towels on, not because of the Germans but because of the English. Hardly any Germans stay here mainly Spainish & English. The bar area offered a wide range of drinks, snacks and meals. The food was of good standard and the service from the waiters was great and very attentive. We stayed half board, even though we didn't make it down to breakfast which is served between 8-10am, the evenings meals were again of good standard with plenty of choice, we liked the idea of dinner being served between 8-10pm as we felt we weren't rushing to get ready to go down and eat early, people were still going into the restaurant at 9.50 to eat and staying till 10.30. So if you were abit of night owl like we were, you could go down later, have dinner, then have a few drinks in the bar before heading off to livelier part of San An. The age group of this hotel i would say is from the late 20's. No children running around, no young ones coming in and making loads of noise which was great. We were coming in at 6 or later most mornings and we're in our early 30's!!! More of a grown ups hotel than an 18-30's. The reception staff were great and very helpful from what we noticed towards other guests, if you need to known anything about the island or how to get anywhere they will be able to tell, no problem. My husband and I were so impressed with this hotel we have decided to stay here again and have booked here stay here already for next year. We had a fabulous time and have come back totally relaxed.
shame about the noise
We have just arrived home from a week at the Bellamar hotel. Had read the reviews before booking and agree with all the other positive comments, clean, food ok, staff freindly if you approached them, near the beach. The only down side was the noise from the road and the construction opposite during the day, thats if you were lucky enough to have a sunbed for the day. Due to the noise we couldn't relax if we stayed around the pool so chose to visit many of the beaches in the area. Be warned, the cost of loungers and parasols vary from one end of the beach to the other, from 4 euros per item to 5 euros per item. The bellamar is not for those that want entertainment, very quiet and sedate, probably better suited to the more mature person who enjoys eating similar food each night. As written previously by the american visitor, topless doesn't shock us but PLEASE!! if you are a senior member of the society - COVER UP.
