Akol Hotel

The Akol Hotel is not a memorable experience. My single room was far too hot and there didn't seem to be a way to adjust the heat. In fact, this was a general problem with several hotels where I stayed. I opened the window, which was right next to a wall, so I couldn't get any air. Akol has a non smokers floor whıch ıs great ın Turkey where smokıng attıtudes are stıll ın the dark ages. Our problem was the aır condıtıonıng. Each room has an ındıvıdual aır condıtıoner, the problem ıs that your neıghbors aır condıtıoner compressor ıs on your balcony. So ın the mıddle of the nıght your neıghbor causes a noıse lıke an large truck startıng at your wındow.

Stayed one night with the group tour “Go Ahead Vacations” in November 2006. Came late from Istanbul and left very early next morning to Troy. Our room was large and basic, nothing special, slightly tired but efficient and quite. Prepaid/prefixed buffet dinner and breakfast were OK. I liked the waterfront location of this hotel and enjoyed views as well as energizing early morning walk along the waterfront. We had a good time visiting Gallipoli and Troy and used the Akol as our base. It's a large multi story hotel with two tower blocks. It has clearly seen better days but essentially it was clean, air con, fridge etc all worked fine. The half board evening meal and breakfast were good. You wouldn't want a week of two there but it's perfectly adequate for a few days to explore the area. The small car park at no extra charge was a bonus.

Hotel is older but our 2-day stay here was very pleasant. The staff arranged for us to join two excellent tours--a morning tour to Troy and an afternoon tour to Gallipoli at the last minute. The location is perfect for walking around and/or eating at the outside eateries all along the waterfront. I booked on their website.

This was the final hotel on our Pacha Tour. The location is right across the street from the straights leading back over to Galippoli. Not all rooms have a view of the water, but if your does it is great. The pool water was just above freezing. A real disappointment. The rooms were large, the bathrooms were nice, the food was very good and we had great views. The lobby was nice and we generally liked everything about this hotel except that we only got to stay here one night.

Hotel room was clean, efficient, and comfortable. The A/C worked great and the room was quiet. Mini fridge in the room kept the drinks cold and phone calls to USA were cheap from the hotel room. Excellent breakfast and wireless internet available in the lobby or the first 3 floors. Close to the harbor and boardwalk and to great Kebab restaurants. Also walking distance to a Mosque (for Muslim worshippers). I recommend this one

The AKOL HOTEL is a solid 4 star hotel, in very good decorative order. Rooms are a good size;, suberb sea view with double glazing, central heating, air-conditioning, TV, good bathrooms, a power shower and lashings of hot water. Reception is welcoming and efficient. The buffet breakfast (included in the price) is very good . if you stay at Akol Hotel you must visit roof bar for excelent view of the bosphorus.... The Akol was a fairly clean room and bed, that's it really. It is old and a bit musty but it is in a handy spot right in the main street. I'd stay agin if I needed a bed with no frills.

As we approached Channakale we looked for the Akol Hotel as we knew it was on the water. We could not see it. It turns out that the angle of the photo on the hotel's brochure looking from the water has yet to be determined. The Akol is a nice hotel with friendly staff and probably the place to stay in Channakale. The choices are not that big. Rooms were comfortable in size, clean and everything functioned well.
