very nice location views fab from all over the three hotels .we did a lot of eating and drinking.but at first didn't think the food was good at all but we either got used to it or some days better than others .would like to have had more Spanish food.the tapas bar was our favorite.but a lot of choice so some thing for every one.we hired a car so we could drive around the island which we think is great .no high rise any where .Ibiza town very cosmopolitan and a must see.we love ibiza and maybe would stay at this hotel again.not much to see in san miguel so car hire a must.
Great value hotel

Just back from a week at the Galeon Hotel. Everything is great here the only thing that could do with improving a little bit is the choice/quality of the buffet. We have been to the sister hotel three times before but much prefer this hotel. Would definately return for another cheap break. The views are spectacular.
excellent, am returning again

Stayed here in July 2007 for 7 nights and can honestly say it was fabulous. The hotel is very clean, ok maybe slightly dated but the food, service and value for money was first class. Never been all inc before, but was so impressed have rebooked for this year. Have children of 16, 14 and 5 and enought to keep them happy. Yes it's quiet but tthat's what I wanted. Beach is gorgeous and safe. Be warned - donot go to sister hotels unless you want lager louts and Butlins on Sea !!. Galeon is perfect though.

In a nutshell for a 3 star hotel: Food was excellent for buffet, always hot, plenty of choice and we are very critical on that front Staff wonderful, attentive and pleasant. Chinese at Sister hotel Ok, but cant get head around the system of you have 45 mins to eat and then they chuck you out! Mexican - very poor and tasteless. Drinks - plastic cups in bars which we disliked of an evening - can understand in the day, except Panoramic bar open 9pm - 1am you get a glass. The drinks are mainline spirits , wine and Sangria and Beer. Husband disliked beer and did not drink for two weeks. White wine awful. Red and Rose drinkable. Home made sangia in the western saloon lovely - bar staff good fun there too. All inclusive stops dead on 11pm. We tried to get our son some milk at 11.05pm and was told to pay. Views - spectacular - you would pay high supplements for these views usually. We had a pool view too which was very noisy till midnight as entertainment based around there and with a small child not always ideal. Entertainment - at the Galeon fairly poor, international style in 4 langauages which becomes irritating. Sister hotel beach club ran by Thomson Superfamily/Hotel Group - Zorro's (compare) wit makes the entertainment hes very funny - however its a shame he refers to us in the Galeon as the cheap skates (we have different colored wrist bands to other hotels). Shows, quizs, Kareoke etc. etc. Galeon - international hotel so feel like your on holiday and the sister hotels are very much brits abroad in football tops if you like that sort of thing!
Great for the price

Great views from rooms.

We have just returned from 9 days at the El Galeon Hotel. We found all of the reception/bar staff to be friendly and efficient. The rooms were spacious and clean, although they could do with some modernisation and painting (that goes for the whole hotel). The views from the rooms and bars were stunning, you could never tire of the views. The all inclusive was very good, you could drink almost anything that you wanted including cocktails but only until 11 pm which was disappointing as the other two hotels allowed drinking until 12pm but although El Galeon guests could enjoy the facilities of the other hotels this rule was enforced and you could not get a drink after 11pm anywhere without paying for it, (saying that they never objected to you getting a few drinks in before the end). The food was very good, always hot and plentiful. You can eat from the minute you wake up until 11pm either in the main restaurants or at the various other places ie. mexican (good) , chinese (average but edible), tapa tapa (did not try) or the western saloon (not bad for burgers, chips, hot dogs, ice cream and popcorn). There was some bad smells that came and went from all three hotels, worse after it had rained one day. The entertainment at the Club San Miguel/Cartago was excellent mainly due to Zorro who was an exceptional entertainer. The Thomson reps were not very good but I am sure the kids thought they were OK. We watched the show at the Galeon in the evenings twice but found it very boring and not very entertaining, there seemed to be only one chap that did everything all day and in the evening, we did not think very much to him. There is not much to do in Puerto San Miguel itself but the beach is lovely and if you want to treat yourself to a meal (to get away from the all inclusive) we would recommend the fish restaurant right on the beach, the meal we had was beautiful. This hotel is not recommended for people with babies in buggies or people with walking difficulties as there are many steps and walkways to enable you to get to the beach.
beautiful view - not much else

We went to the Galeon in September 06 for 2 weeks. We knew it was off the beaten track, so had hired a car for 10 days. What we didn't know was that outside of the famous club scene and 2 hippy markets,(for gods sake don't go on the coaches to them) there is nothing much to see in Ibiza. Most other places we have visited have some identity. Ibiza is so full of people from everywhere else it has lost it's identity. The exception to this is the little village of San Miguel, just up the road from the hotel. Up near the church is a little communitity which has been there generations. You can sit in the tiny bar, or outside and forget there is a modern world. I evening a week they perform traditional dances in the courtyard of the church. We spent much time here because having visited most places on the map - we had realised that Ibiza wanted the tourists to arrive, party, sleep, party, go home. Most of the staff in the hotel were surly and quite agressive. Food was short on amount and imagination and any level of heat. Pool area had been totally taken over by some of the animation team (whose only animation was to lear over the thin young girls and ridicule anyone over a size 10). Drum and base has never been my thing so i'm afraid most of the house entertainment wasn't for me. Some evenings the hotel did get in professional entertainers. These poor people then had to undergo the humiliation of the animation team trying to be funny by apeing them in a very unpleasant manner. Yes; you have the use of the other hotel restaurants. however be aware that should you leave your table to get food, they will put another person there and leave you stood food and drink in hand whilst asking you 'but you got up!!!' I'm usually more than generous to holiday hotels and would at least go back for a weekend. If I won a holiday to this hotel I would even consider going. Sad to say, but unless hotels like this improve, the only customers they will get from the UK are the ones they seem to want. The party animals who party all night, then the police clear off the benches around the beach at 10 in the morning and release later in the day. Second good point. Public transport is great. It runs on time, is clean well maintained and drivers are friendly. It is not the drivers fault if holiday makers can't read a timetable. They are printed in 4 languages. Did make for fun viewing though when people were told that the bus had finished for the night and wouldn't be taking them partying at 11.30 at night. To sum up Transport Great Old San Miquel Quaint and delightful with nice people Hotel, if you want to lay on a beach all day, or sleep all day and party all night, then this could be for you. Just didn't do it for us.
Great!! (despise of the FootballShirt-type guests)

I really enjoyed my stay. Great view, beautifull nature and beach. Friendly personal. The things i didn't like were the Chinise and Tapa restaurant, but the hotel restaurant had a lot of food, what was really great. The cartago hotel, that is also a part of Club Galeon, had lots of British guests, the Football-shirt-Tatood-types-kind i didn't like cause of their noise and attitude. But if you are in Hotel Club Galeon you don't have anything to do with them, and you'll have a nice and quit stay. With quest from all over Europe (France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium). Thanx, Dan from Holland
Galeon Hotel a return visit
from michaeljames
We returned to the Galeon 13 years after we last stayed there, as we were driven down the road we could see the hotel stood high on the cliff, the view as lovely as we remembered. Checkin was an ease only having to leave our passports with reception for 1 day. We were detailed a room on floor 6. Now this hotel has a twist, the hotel is built on the side of a cliff so reception is on the 9th floor at the top, so we were 3 floors down. the room was clean tidy and everything worked, although we had to hire a hair dryer. All rooms have a view over the bay so unable to fault that either. The tv was only 12" screen portable with no remote and limited english channels, but then whos going to stay in a watch tv all day. We were early risers and bay the time we returned from breakfast, we found the maid had already started our room, if not already finished, and was done to a high standard. We stayed on an all inclusive tarriff which allowed us food and drink from 1000 until 2300hrs. Although the other hotels in the complex allowed it untill Midnight, why the difference ,I don't know. As we could use all the facilites at the sister hotel Cartago and San Miguel beach club. entertainment was provided at the Galeon and near the beach club. This was really good with the beach club team lead by "ZORO" doing fantasic shows and game, Boogie night billed as the highlight to your holiday was that, with the club dance at the end being done to fireeating and fireworks. This was Brilliant. Day time entertainment was also provide which was again good. On the beach as part of the package you could have free use of canoes, sailboats, windsurfers and pay for a pedalo, 12 euro for an hour, which is good value. However as good as I make the Galeon seem there was a slight downside. The Food, well what can be said, Chips with everything, menu was very poor at the evening meal although Breakfast was good and lunch okay too. The Mexican was really good for lunchtime snacks. But all was not lost as you can use the Cartago 50 m down the hill if you book a day in advance. Once we learnt that we stayed eating there and it was 100% better. Good for families. people with walking difficulties may find it hard to get about as lots of steps and inclines. Overall this was a brillant hotel and holiday with a few minor letdowns. You need to remember it is part of a complex and treat it that way
Had a great time

I spent the last two weeks of August 2003 there and it was the best holidays I've had for years. The food is excellent, many pools, bars and snackbars to choose from in the 3 hotels of the complex, and the beach is great. Only drawback, you need to walk down 250m of ramps and stairs to the beach, quite dangerous for the kids and tiring to walk up under the sun when going back to the hotel for lunch. Beside of that, it was such great holidays that my wife and I wished we had booked one more week.

We are a couple in our early 50's and have just returned from a week all inclusive at the Hotel Galeon Playa. Please don't take any notice of the bad reviews, this place is lovely and the views over the bay are stunning. It is a complex of three hotels set on a hill with... more
