Okay - To the guys we met on holiday here's our review... When you first drive up to the hotel (up a very steep bank) it looks lovely...(we arrived at night). When you get to your room its very different! We just put up with our room but a few couples we met did change - mainly because of the state of the bathrooms! Chairs on our balcony were broken, there was a large screw sticking out of the headboard, shower was broken (was like getting washed with a hosepipe) and the floor was disgusting you wouldnt dare walk around with bare feet! Overall the pool area is lovely with fantastic views - the only thing the hotel has going for it! The worst part about this holiday was the food...yes i know "you get what you pay for", but I would not feed the slop to my dog! You didnt have a clue what you were eating. What ever was left at breakfast was served again and lunch and then again at dinner! So no wonder alot of us were ill during our stay, I wasnt well halfway through the week and ony realy recoverd 2 days after we got back home! This was our main conversation on a evening to see who was now not well and what "drugs" we could swap! Overall we did have some great night out in yalikavak. As there is no entertainment at the hotel and we wanted some real food! Its the first holiday where I have lost weight!
baby think twice.......

this hotel is in need of a revamp, the food is awful many people down with food poisoning. no good for people with walking problems. the room we ended up with faced a brill view big balcony & good sized room altho again sockets off the walls. there is a free shuttle bus down the very steep hill into the village, as it was the end part of the season they cut the times down. a taxi is around 8 lire, the bus into bodrum is 3 lire this is around a 20 minute dolmus ride. the pool area was good, the free drinks from 10 to 6 are served in very small thin plastic cups ok for toddlers..... the manager i found helpful he moved our room as the one we had was awfull brown stains in the toilet, the varanda was only big enough for 1, bad pavein leading to it. on the whole my husband only had 1 meal at the hotel being a boiled egg, i lived on soap & bread the one saveing grace was we only payed 99 pounds each this was with out flights. the transfers are 50 pounds each way so beware. i do understand this hotel is under going a facelift this year sooooo. remember this is up a big hill good for the fit & young.
Hated the hotel

Date: 20 September 2008 We were 5 family members wanting a lifetime holiday together and booked ourselves at the family Belvedere hotel. The hotel is at a very quite location, it looked good from the outside; there were several steps that takes you to the hotel reception, all you could see were loads of steps everywhere. The porters took our suitcases to our rooms, which were two rooms joined together; one was above the other which again meant loads stairs leading to the second bedroom. The room had a small portable television and the beds felt as if you could feel the springs in them. I got myself locked in the toilet and managed to get myself out. We decided to go to the restaurant for breakfast and found that you had twist and turns and loads of steps going down. There were flies everywhere; the white tablecloth looked dirty, which made us think what the food would be like. One family member was partially blind and having cream marble flooring and steps everywhere seemed like a danger zone. We all felt very uncomfortable and decided that we could not stay a single night at this hotel. We got a taxi and searched for another hotel near by. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially if they are disabled in anyway. Luckily we managed to find a suitable hotel 45 minutes away.
worst holiday hotel ever experienced
from peterbluearmy
Me, my wife, my brother and my sister in law, booked this holiday through travel republic because me and my wife had never been to turkey before, we were really looking forward to it. Until our first night at this establishment, that soon changed our opinion. On the first morning breakfast and almost every other day for the first week, there was a shortage of food half an hour before the actual closing time or breakfast which was supposed to be 10 am. When approached the chef just said "we are closed." On top of this, all meals were served cold, with most of it repeated daily and totally unfit to eat. The dining room had flies all over and nothing was covered or refrigerated. The hotel bar served beer in warm plastic cups, on two or three days during the holiday the beer was sour and undrinkable. Although most of the staff were friendly, one manager/chef was nasty and arrogant, when complained the response was "you English are always complaining." The bedroom was never cleaned properly neither was the bathroom in the 14 days we stayed there. A lot the holiday makers had stomach upsets including myself and family. The response from that sad manager was, "that's because you all go out to eat" which was not the case. I even asked for the owner of the hotel to attend to meet me but that never happened. Although I loved turkey and the people I would never under any circumstances attend this hotel again.
wouldn't go back

Well what can we say about this hotel, this is the first time ever that i have been prompted to write a reveiw on my holiday experiance, firstly i must mention that i have traveled around the world and have stayed at many hotels some bad and some very good the Family Belvedere hotel has very beautifull views over looking the bay sitting high up on the side of a very steep hill, so this place is not for the elderly or infirm, The hotel run a shuttle bus down to the local beach with a time table both to and from the beach, the problem here we found that they changed the times without telling anyone which caused a lot of confusion, The Food at the hotel was very basic and only one type of dish if you didn't like it then it was off to the beach, The music around the pool area realy put us off, very loud and of eastern taste ( playing to themselfs ) so it was off to the beach everyday for some peace and quite, ( i don't mind a bit of background music but tthat was too much, ) There's nothing there for the kids so don't take them there Even in the evening there is nothing to do, Our tour rep failed to show on the Sunday as arranged and when we chased them up we were told he will be there in ten minuets, we are still waiting ffor him to contact us so if you book your transfere with hotels for you then you will end up with YESIL DALYAN TOURS, beware A lot of the guests caught the deli belly and my wife went down with it on the Friday that took 5 days to clear, On the whole the week was ok but would not go back even if i won it in a raffel, THIS HOTEL IS NOT FOR THE BRITS, Also word of warning about the airport, ( Bodrum ) on our return i felt a bit peckish in the que so i went to the shop and bought a cheese and tomato roll that cost 14 YTL ( £7.00 ) and when we went through to departures a fast food bar charged 12 euro's for a burger, chips and a coke which was on a special deal, I didn't have any euro's so i was charged 24 YTL ( just under £12.00 ) Never again The moral to this story is read all the reviews and make up your own mind, next time i will be doing a lot of research before i book
worst holiday of my life
from lnr2005
arrived at the hotel, looked brilliant with views of two beaches from the pool setting fantastic. when we gott our room we had expected a sea view like our booking form said, so we got into the room if you looked hard enough you could see the sea through the trees in front of our balcony. The food was disgusting with the choice between crap and crap i became ill after the first nite with severe stomach cramps and spent every night on the toilet. It was the same throughout the hotel with numerous people. We were even swapping medication. After the visitors from poland left they began shutting the bar earleir. Staff were very ignorant, reception told one guest to stop making problems when she complained about the state of her room she had to take it upon her self to take bleach from the the cleaning staff as they were carrying it for show, the rooms were just disgusting my door frame was hanging of grime around taps and shower, the toilet was brown and your feet became instantly dirty if you stepped on the floor. the saving grace of the holiday came on the last night when we went into yalikavak to a restraunt and i had a massive t-bone steak. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE
worse management ever!!!
from soulofholiday
A Turkish family from İstanbul: well to be honest ıt has lovely view of Yalıkavak but worse management I have ever seen. Luckily our travel agent (Selçuk from ETS Tours)helped us alot. WE HAVE LOCKED IN BATHROOM ın FİRST DAY ! BALCONY DOOR HANDLE BROKEN, COULDN'T CLOSE IT ! But you feel ...... as drınkıng your cold beer ın plastıc cup. ıt ıs not an optıon YOU MUST DRINK YOUR DRINK IN PLASTIC CUP UNDER 40 CELCİUS BY THE POOL. there is risk of being cut by glass ıf someone break any glass . that ıs their excuse for some people others can have glassess maybe by hıgh tips. (extra ınfo:no one ıs serving you by pool : you should go pool bar to have a drink). so got annoyed by the pool decided to take a tour. We have booked for a boat tour organised by animator of hotel( who arranges games in pool, throwıng kids to pool and dancing around pool) Not really impressed his work but had trusted him for moon light boat tour. we would hav been taken at 9 pm but ıt was 9:45 still waiting at reception for bus. not only me poor families from abroad ! my sister was sleepy already cos we have ınformed to be back 1 am but under thıs circumstances we should be on boat tıll 2 and back hotel by 3 am. THİS İS FAMİLY CLUP CARES ABOUT FAMİLİES AND CHİLDREN, RİGHT? I am Turkısh and shamed of that unorganized person. As I talked to someone from Manager they told me that THEY DİD NOT KNOW ABOUT BOAT TOUR. WORSE THAN THAT animator FOUND ME TO ask what was the big deal , he has an excuse about late-bus so he YELL AT ME NEXT DAY !!! SHOUTİNG AT CUSTOMER ? hospitality and kindness is just below zero IN FAMİLY BELVERE -YALIKAVAK-BODRUM-TURKEY. ıf ı tell you BLOODY UNİVERCİTY STUDENT WORKİNG THERE AS anımator, TAKİNG TAVELLERS MONEY BY ARRANGİNG FAKE TOURS, what would you say ? blame a school boy or management hires achild for entertainment. ( as the male-masseuse follows ladies and chat with them by pool, this school boy join them at dinners and another tours for pub-street to GUMBET) this persons aim is obvıous and existance ın the family resort. NOT ONLY THAT : ın the middle of the holiday found myself ın hospital cos of ear infection as result of dirty swimming pool. As doctors said many people has been suffrering from these lack of clean pools at unconcerned hotels. So we had to change our locatıon to seaside. But I was not allowed swim after all. SO lovely view of the family belvedere hotel doesnt help, does ıt?? I invite everybody to write their opınıons about that resort lack of entertainment but full of pain. wish you pick best one for yourself and let us know!
Fabulous views and staff
from JulesHendy
We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to relax around the resort rather than go sightseeing every day because it's located on a steep hill and is a little cut off. There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel into Yalikavak at various times during the day where there is a beach (coarse sand), bars, shops, restaurants, weekly market and marina. From here it is easy to take a bus or taxi into Bodrum and beyond but it was so hot whilst we were there we chose not to spend longer than necessary travelling. During our stay, there were very few British people at the hotel (but many in Yalikavak), other guests were mainly Dutch and Belgian, with some French, Turkish, Russian and Polish. There were a lot of couples aged around 21 - 35 and families with children aged around 6 to 16. There are a lot of steps around the resort - to the pool, reception and the apartments - which would make it awkward for anyone with walking difficulties, but we did see a few families with pushchairs. The staff are fabulous! Many speak little or no English but are incredibly hard-working, helpful, polite and friendly. We stayed for two weeks from 26th July 08 with our children aged 13 and 11. Our "family room" was actually two bedrooms with a bathroom (shower only and a bit primitive) and a small balcony with breathtaking views over the sea. Housekeeping cleaned every day and sheets and towels were changed every 2 to 3 days - flowers and petals were scattered on the bed twice! Our rooms were basic but adequate and had free air-conditioning, tv, hairdryer and safe. The main pool is quite deep and surrounded by the sun terrace with amazing views towards Kos and the Didim mountains during the day and beautiful sunsets at night. There are plenty of sun beds and parasols although we did notice people reserving beds before breakfast then returning to find their parasol had been moved by other guests! Small complaint - CD music is played in the pool area during the day which is often inappropriate and very repetetive. The entertainment consists of pool games twice a day and table-tennis tournaments for adults and children. (Please note that the price to pay for losing in the final is to do a belly dance beside the pool!) There is a mini-disco for small children (same songs each night) and Saturday is Turkish night with traditional Turkish dancers, belly dancers and a few stalls selling goods. The all-inclusive package revolves around food! Breakfast buffet then snacks (Turkish pizza with cheese, egg or meat freshly made and cooked in an oven in the poolside snack bar) before lunch buffet, more pizza snacks, then cake (also freshly baked) and finally the dinner buffet (hot meat, fish, veg, rice, chips, cheese, humous, salad, desserts, fruit). Sometimes the meat was barbequed outdoors before being served in the restaurant. Over two weeks we did see a lot of similar food but there was always a choice - and a vast quantity of everything - so this was never a problem for us. The all-inclusive (local) drinks are good but the poolside bar is in desperate need of updating. There was a much more attractive bar on the roof terrace which appeared to be hardly used because the drinks there were chargeable. We were told by other guests that the hotel is due to be refurbished, starting with the bathrooms but involving construction of a new children's pool area, with a view to becoming a 4* by 2010. The hotel has so much potential that this should be achievable. The surrounding area is a mixture of newly built luxury apartments and buildings which look like they been half-built for years (unfortunately there is one of these immediately beside the hotel and visible from the pool) but the good far outweighs the bad. In all we had a fabulous relaxing break and we have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Have just returned (11th Aug) from a fortnight stay at the Belverdere Hotel, and we Hated it, our worse holiday in 19 years. The photes you see about this hotel are the only good thing about this place the appearance and the view On our arrival, the two twin rooms together that we had booked were not available, they had 1 twin and 1 double available but not together, we specially requested this on booking so our daughters would be next door as the youngest is only 14, we adventurely got them together on the 4th night after continually moaning day after day. The cleaning is a joke, we bought some bleach ourselves as they dont use it, the toilet and shower were disgusting, the bedding was not changed in the 2 weeks and we did slighty better then our girls in the fact that our towels were changed once, theirs not at all, they do come in daily and make your bed though. Now the food, you get rice, salad, chips and a chicken dish nightly with another meat dish (that was a good game guessing the meat) mainly savery sausage reshaped, the doors open at 7.30 but if you left it till 8 o'clock they have run out. The bar serves (as stated) local drinks being raki, gin, vodka, and efees beer from a 6 foot bar by the pool, you even have to queue up to ask for a plastic cup to get orange squash from a dispencer on a table next to the bar, for imported drinks like bacardi and malibu you can get from another outdoor bar, that is twice the size but it does not open till 9pm and the drinks are 15 turkish lira (around £7). Finally the location itself is very picturesque but at a price you are up a very steep hill with steps every where so not suitable for anyone with a disability and as there is no evening entertainment the local town of Yalikavak is a pleasent walk 15 minutes away but climbing up and down the slope is a real killer. We hired a car for the second week and used the hotel for sleeping in only.
Purrrrrrrrfect!!!!!!!

A lovely friendly hotel. Perfect for families all inclusive package. The view from your room is paradise, close to beach and also could use the next door hotels beach. There is a shuttle for its own beach. Stayed for two weeks and enjoyed it so much. There is a swimming pool which looks over the aegan sea and also a small kids pool. Most of all the food is delicious and you are spoilt in choices........ Highly recommend this hotel.
