we had a fab holiday the only reason i haven't rated it 10/10 is because for the first 2 nights we had to stay in the hotel up the road, which was a pain, as they said they had overbooked. This seems to be a common problem with this hotel, our compensation was a free safe... more

This was the first all inclusive holiday I've been on and I had high expectations based on the reviews and was thoroughly disappointed. On arrival, we were told that they had 'overbooked' the hotel and that we would have to stop in the hotel across the road for a night. Our... more

Great location but was on floor 10. No lift and treacherous conditions. Pools too small and food pretty grim. The most unpleasant receptionist i've come across., although other staff were fine. Please avoid if you don't live walking up steep steps and slopes to your room.... more

Good Family Hotel
This hotel is definately a family hotel. The animacion team are superb very hard working with activities for kids and adults. The shows at night were good and very funny at times. The food was good with only breakfast a little bit off a let down, but there is always something to eat. The snack bar was excellent for the kids with burger, hotdogs and toasties. Portinatx a lovely pretty village, we went on the glass bottom boat which I would recommend. Overall an excellent clean hotel with plenty to do. We would definately go back again.
fantastic entertainment team
A large group of us have just returned from a fabulous week at club portinatx. Well, thats not entirely true, as when we arrived the hotel was overbooked and four of us were put in a hotel ( vista bahia) 10 minute walk away. We were given all inclusive wrist bands for both hotels so could use facilities and food and drink at both. We booked a one bedroom apartment for my partner and I and two teenage children. What they call a 1 bedroom apt is quite small but does have a seperate bedroom. Beware!! even if you have booked an apt you may not get one as there are only 6 of these in the whole complex. People who had booked them were put in a four bedded cramped room even on one occasion 4 adults. Once settled in we began to enjoy all what was on offer. Yes there were alot of kids but there were quiet places and pools to lay if you wanted. The atmosphere created by the entertainment team is what made this place so good. every day there was a variety of things to join in such as aerobics, shooting, archery, darts, volleyball, football and table tennis competitions. This sort of thing is not normally my cup of tea but I enjoyed every minute of it. The food was better than I was expecting. The drinks were not so good, Cocktails are pre-mixed and taste like weak squash. There was no malibu or local equivelent but the management told me I could buy a bottle and they gave me the money back. Beach bar is only open 10 til 12 and 3 til 4.45. Any questions I will be happy to try and answer.
an average 3* hotel -dont expect too much- :)
We have just returned from Portinatx Hotel and we won`t go there again... the place is really nice but from our point of view the hotel DOESN`T meet all 3* standards : 1- shower and toilet constantly dirty 2- rude chambermaid ( we were maybe just unfortunate) 3- reception staff speak english only on basic level (don`t understand everything) 4- safety box in room is not a standard (14 euros/week) 5- too many ants :) although the private beach is magnificent (a bit small but ok) with a bar just above (so you dont have to go to the hotel for drinks every 5minutes). BTW: all drinks are included so you can drink jack daniells all day long ;) bar staff very friendly. animation team good as well (specially for kids).
we really enjoyed our holiday and would definitley go again
We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Portinax Hotel and I would recommend it. My partner and I and our 6 year old son had a lovely time there. The entertainment team were brill. They work hard all day long doing activities, (we played volleyball every day with them) and then put on a fabulous show at night. There are two swimming pools, the one near the snack bar is more child orientated and can get a bit noisy, but the second pool is lovely, small but very chilled out. All pools have sun loungers and we never had a problem getting one, no matter what time of day we went down to the pool. Don't believe all you read about the Germans, we never had any problems with them. The hotel also has it's own small, private, but very adequate beach, (no sun loungers so take a towel). It is ideal for children as it is very shallow and safe. During our whole stay we ate out once, and that was only because I fancied a pizza. The food at the Hotel was very nice ( I put on half a stone!!) and catered for all tastes. Even my very picky son managed to find something he liked. Portinatx Town, (not really a town, just a few bars and restaurants) is very nice too, really friendly and not too rowdy. Be sure to visit "Del Boys Bar" and try the Hoover cocktails! The only thing I would moan about is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. All they have is a fan on the ceiling that circulates the hot air about! I struggled to sleep in the heat and that was at the end of June so god knows how hot it will be in July/August. To summarise, this is a very quiet resort suitable for all, it just depends on what you fancy. If you want a more lively holiday you could always take the half hour taxi drive into San Antonio or Ibiza Town. We really enjoyed ourselves and would definitley go again. Oh, forgot to mention that there are a lot of steps which didn't bother us much and people with very young children and pushchairs seemed to manage OK. X
If you don't like screaming kids, don't go to this hotel
We have just returned from the Club Portinatx hotel in Ibiza, great hotel, food excellent but hotel very family friendly. Entertainment was all for the kids which is great if you're happy with that, but by the 3rd night it does get on your nerves, as it's the same every night. Beach at the hotel is lovely but small with no sunbeds, 15 minutes away in the centre are two lovely coves, fine on the way down, takes a bit more effort on the way back up as it a steep hill. Lots of jellyfish in all the coves, so beware. All in all a lovely holiday, weather was fab, small resort but lovely if like me, you just want to chill.
Never Again
We have just return from a week in this hotel and to be honest a week was to long. This hotel, although the brochure stated differently, is not for couples and it is not a 3 star hotel. We went with friends with 2 children and they enjoyed it a lot better than we did. The food was very poor, very repetitive and usually cold. We went out 2 nights out of the 6 we spent there to the local town to get some decent food, which defeats the idea of all inclusive. Portinatx town, although small, is lovely and has a very nice restaurant overlooking the first beach you come to. The pool area was clean but small. The entertainment was OK if you are younger than 12 or have kids who join in, but for adults it’s a waste of time. The animation team though do work and try very hard. We would definitely go back to Portinatx, but definitely not to this hotel.
Great for kids
Myself and my husband (both in fifties) have just returned from this hotel with our two eldest grandchildren , both girls age 9 & 5. They have had a fabulous time and the eldest has learned to swim in the first few days. However, this is definately a family hotel . This hotel definately caters for the Germans who were plentiful the last few days, it being, so I was told, the German school holidays. There was a group of about 15 men in their 20's - 30's who made it their daily habit to sit around one table getting drunk, being very loud and then jumping en masse into the swimming pool where there were young children swimming in the deep end. As stated in other reviews, if you want a sunbed around the pool, put your towel on it at 7 in the morning or you have no chance of getting one. Being reserved British!!! we refused to do that and spent most of the time trying to find a sunbed that wasn't broken. The entertainment team are great and some of the shows were some of the best we've seen. Ibiza is a beautiful island and portinatx is very pretty and the two beaches there are really nice - better than the one belonging to the hotel. It is only a 10 minute walk to Portinatx beach, but a little hilly on return journey. The food in the hotel was acceptable - you could always find something to eat, but it was very repetitive. On the whole it was a holiday for the kids and they enjoyed it which was the main thing. As a couple we would definately not return, but you have to make your own minds up. There were people who have been going for 20 years so it's obvious personal choice. It is very clean and you do get clean towels every day. Beds not very comfy though. Any questions, please feel free to email.
great time
just come back from the club portinatx hotel,we went for one week 25 may 2007 a family of 4 adults and one child,we had a great time the rooms were very clean and tidy we had clean towels every day,the entertainment team were brilliant day and night always something going on for all ages, the waiters in the bar were very friendly and polite, the only thing that let it down was the food it was basic and sometimes cold, apart from that we had a brilliant time and would definitey go back again
shame about the food
Myself, partner and 12 year old son visited the Club Portinatx in May 2007. We booked this one week all inclusive holiday with Airtours because it was cheap and seemed like a fantastic deal. On arriving at the hotel, i headed to the snack bar and ordered a burger. Wish i hadnt bothered. I was served a burger in a bun covered in green mould. I pointed this out to the chef, who promptly served me a replacement....also covered in mould. I saw the pack of buns, and needless to say they were all mouldy and 3 days past their use buy date. After this experience i was very picky about what i ate, and choose to stick to cheese toasties, rice and chips, as did my son. The food was awful...soup labelled " vegetable "....only when i peered into the pot, contained fish skins....eurghh!! The food mainly caters for the european market....cold meats, salad and endless mixed rice dishes. Not a sniff of a full english at breakfast time...you were lucky to get egg and beans.Unfortunately all food stops at 8.30, so if your hungry any later, tough luck. My partner often walked the 20 minute distace into the nearest village ( Portinatx ) for takeaway pizza. The pool is a bit dirty ( I spotted a sweet wrapper in the pool that was still there 2 days later, despite the receptionist stating the pool is cleaned everyday ). The smell of sewage around the stairs to the pool is also constantly present. Everything ( the pool, rooms, beach, dining room ) is accessed by countless stairs, so i wouldnt recommend this hotel for families with pushchairs or elderly folk. The room we stayed in was tiny, with three single beds squashed in, and could only just walk around the beds. Very similar to motel style accommodation. This hotels only saving grace is the entertainment team, who put on a great show every evening with enthusiasm, especially olivier aka " Sideshow Bob ".
Good value for money
We are a family of four and we went to the Club Portinatx in May of last year. We booked with Thomas Cook on an all inclusive package. It was very good value for money. Yes, the food could get a bit repetitive but there was ample and it was cooked fresh. The rooms were OK, nothing special but clean and plenty of towels. We were quite close to the pool, although we could not see it. There is another building over the road, next to the tennis courts. Good views over the sea. I was dismayed on the second day when I heard voices etc at 6.30am. I went outside and they were waiting to put their towels etc on the sunbeds, and they were all English. When you were allowed to access the sunbeds at 7.00am, people were coming from every direction, you would think they had jumped out of the trees. We unfortunately did join in, but used our beds straight after breakfast. Some beds lay empty all day until the sun came round to their chosen area. NOT ON!! You would probably need to hire a car for a couple of days, as it is quite remote, but when we took a trip around the island we were glad of where we had chosen. Several years prior to this we went to Playa Den Bossa, it has changed drastically for the worse. Very built up and noisy. The entertainment crew worked their socks off. at the hotel and put on some really good shows. But it did start late. Overall very good.
