Agrotica Apartments Reviews
" This place is lovely. The location is... "
Submitted By: Mrs C Bishop
This place is lovely. The location is out of the main resort of Tingaki, and is a good 15 minute walk to nearest supermarket. I therefore recommend hiring some form of transport to get around. We hired bikes, and they were so cheap 10 eur for 2 days for 2 of us. They were so fun to use and we got to see alot of the area.
The apartments are very spacious and very basic. But beds, towels and bathroom cleaned once a week. The bins are emptied every other day.
The pool is amazing! very clean with enough sunbeds for everyone, it never gets busy or overcrowded.
There is a small pool bar which also serves good food, ie greek salad (which is huge) chips, breakfasts etc, and has a vast selection of drinks.
The family that run these apartments are wonderful people, they will make you feel at home and part of the family, they work so hard to keep every one happy, nothing is too much trouble for them.
The location is in a spectacular spot, has beautiful gardens with fruit trees and palm trees. Has amazing views of Zia and the mountains.
The animals at night can be quite noisy, and did wake us up quite alot, but it didn't spoil the holiday.
On the main strip of Tingaki, there is a huge range of places to eat i recommend Andreas Taverna, which serves wonderful greek food, their fish is amazing!
Overall we had a most wonderful holiday, we chilled by the pool, got lovely suntans, went cycling, visited the cultural sights and went to many beaches. This place has it all.
I would recommend these apartments to those looking for a quiet holiday with no noisy youngsters partying!

" If you love peace and quiet, you'll... "

If you love peace and quiet, you'll love it at the Agrotica apartments. The views are stunning, as are the gardens that surround the accommodation. The pool has the most beautiful setting and is very clean and inviting - you almost always have it to yourselves. Martina and her family are really lovely and always try their best to make sure you enjoy your holiday. There are lots of cats she takes care of so if you're a cat lover it'll feel just like home, as it did for us. Due to its location, it's advisable to hire bikes at the very least, unless you enjoy the 25 min walk each way to Tingaki. There are many nice tavernas to eat at, but our two of our favourites were the Plori on the beach front and Sagittarius in the high street.
The supermarket is just 50 m up from the T junction going to the village & prices are definitely better there. Make sure you not only visit Zia, but also go about 1 kilometre beyond Pyli on the mountain road to Kardemena to a very inconspicuous little place called Panorama Cafe on the right hand side. You will not believe the vista that awaits you.

" We decided that we wanted a last... "
Submitted By: pisces62
We decided that we wanted a last minute holiday 2yr ago & found a deal online that suited our requirements. We called the number & were asked what type of holiday we would like...we explained what we were looking for & low & behold they came up with one that we thoroughly enjoyed, so much so we are looking to go back next year.
The Agrotica apartments as explained exactly on the site is a 2 star, basic (because that is all that is required for self catering),clean, quiet & about 15-20mins from the village walking distance, so somewhere along the way some people that have been to these apartments have missed reading the important bits.
So what if there was some mould (I bet it wasn't bad)! And what do you expect really, the country is very humid & hot. Don't you get mould in your shower at home because we certainly do! If you expect better go 4* or above, which I don't think you'd get for a couple of hundred pounds.
It is NOT for 19yr olds either. Which I’m sure if you'd read what type apartments they are you wouldn't have picked them. I think lessons might have been learnt! Or they should have been.
We arrived at the apartments in pitch black, middle of the night which was not through choice but because it is the only flight from our area. Next morning we looked around & expectations were justified, if we had been looking for better then we should have spent decent money on our budget holiday.
We were very pleased with what we got for our money. Terry & mama who run the apartments couldn't help enough if we needed anything at all they done their best, no children, no teenagers, quiet & very enjoyable. We walked into Tingaki early evening & chose a different restaurant to eat in just to see if there was any difference etc, each restaurant we went to, couldn't please us enough, very friendly, and didn’t expect anything except for one. The bars were the same; we made friends & thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
We hired a buggy for 24hrs & explored a lot of the island which took most of the day & I’m sure we didn't explore a lot of the best bits... We went up into the hills to watch the sunset, that we had read about in other reviews shouldn't be missed
Overall if, you’re not too bothered about accommodation and enjoy a quiet holiday without too many kids about then we would highly recommend Tingaki.

" Have been to numerous Greek islands... "
Submitted By: Mr W&KE Peet
Have been to numerous Greek islands both hotels and apartments and found Agrotica to be what you would expect.
Martina, who is 68 runs the apartments almost singlehandedly having lost her husband who built the apartments; before they were completely finished, who decided it was a better option than farming, hence the name Agrotica. He did build a lovely well designed swimming pool which, for ten apartments, would be the envy of much larger apartments. The pool was always spotless.
This may sound like a pro Martina review and so it should because, with the part time assistance of her daughter and her son who is a hotel chef she does a pretty good job.
Martina`s English is as good as my Greek; which considering that I retired at 65 and have nothing better to do than to learn a few words in the host language and she works a minimum 18 hour day and is still a cheerful and pleasant lady has to be to her credit.
The flights to Kos are almost all at night and having been to Kos before we were well aware of how you can feel especially if there are delays.
All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday and if we went to Kos again it would be Agrotica.

" We paid £216 each through golden... "
Submitted By: Miss Z Ross
We paid £216 each through golden ticket travel so I imagined it to be quite basic, we arrived about 5:30am Greek Time so it was dark and were greeted by a litter of kittens running across the path!
Our apartment No. 8 was clean, basic and spacious, we had the end one so had a big patio around the edge of it, ideal for sunbathing and eating outside, in the bedroom was twin beds and a third bed in the living area, kitchen was basic but to be honest we only used the kettle and fridge as it was so cheap to eat out and a few restaurants offered takeaway service too.
There are only 10 apartments so it’s never packed by the pool and a nice clean swimming pool with a small snack bar which seemed to be open whenever you wanted anything! The gardens are well looked after, as are the cats that live here which is nice to see, and they are very friendly too!
The first day we hired a moped for the week which I recommend hiring some sort of transport, it’s a 15 min walk to Tigaki and there are a lot of restaurants, all quite similar and the beach here but we wanted to explore other places, we visited Kos Town (about 20 mins moped ride) and also the Lidos Water Park (15 mins moped) which was fun about 17 Euros for an adult, children slightly less which was good fun, we also visited Bubble Beach / Paradise Beach which took about 30 mins, nice beach but we didn’t see a single bubble!
Most beaches were sandy and had sunbeds to rent, and most seemed to offer watersports.
I would recommend this holiday for people wanting a quiet, relaxing break in excellent weather. Although it could get windy sometimes the temperature stayed hot throughout so you appreciated the wind!
The people at the Agrotica are really friendly and although the mother doesn’t speak English she was very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely go back and stay here again.
The only downside was the flights, they all went early hours of the morning and Kos airport like most Greek islands is crammed and claustrophobic, we were able to keep our room on till midnight for 30 Euros and we got a cab to the airport 20 Euros (book in advance) to beat the coaches and get better seats, all in all a good relaxing holiday and the Agrotica apartments are a lovely place to stay.

" These are the worst apartments we... "
Submitted By: Mr D Roberts
These are the worst apartments we have ever been to. In total we stayed there 8 Hours. We arrived at 2.00am, by 10.00am we had moved out and checked into another hotel in Tingaki.
The bathroom had mould in it, the place was dusty, the fridge had brown stains inside and out. There was a selection of odd crockery and cutlery some of the cutlery was plastic. The door had bars on it. As well as a price list for the pool bar in the room, there was also a comprehensive price list for items should they need replacing due to guest's damaging them, and the sheets smelt like they had been washed in bleach. We only slept in the room until 7.00am, but the smell of bleach was making our eyes smart.
When we left the apartments we gave the keys back to the owner who only said to us, "No good, Oh bye bye".

" You will love this resort, it's... "
Submitted By: Mr P C Ash
You will love this resort, it's simple and quiet.
The rooms are basic but functional, I would recommend taking a travel kettle if you want tea or coffee without putting the electric ring on the cooker all the time, you need transport so a bike/car is a must but barter with the local hire shops, there are several.
Matina - the mother of Lefteris (Terry) speaks mainly Greek to you, it helps if you can learn to say a few words, Good Morning, thank you and please in Greek before you go, believe me it goes a long way if you do.
The 10 apartments are owned by Matina who works all hours, you will see her round the pool during the day, in the pool snack bar, where the Salad is a must.
Twice a week Matina's daughter comes to help with the changeovers and a change of towels and linen.
Lefteris works during the day but you will see him at lunch time when he comes home to help his mother. You will see him at night too, walking round the grounds and putting the chemicals in the pool. There is an abundance of fruit on the trees and often Matina will give some to you.
Restaurants are abundant in Tigaki, we went to Nisiotiko which had lovely food, fairly reasonably priced too, Rodini (looks like PODINI on the sign) are family run, have good food, and are cheap. Sagittarius is lovely, their food is good but you pay for your bread? They are a bit pricey, but you will not be disappointed. There are some great bars there too, Karma Bar has Cocktails at 3€, the guy who works there is a real character.
I've had a wonderful week in the Agrotica, no complaints about anything in Kos. You will enjoy your holiday it's guaranteed.

" The resort was very quiet, and out of... "
Submitted By: Miss K Palin
The resort was very quiet, and out of Tingaki town itself. We found ourselves hiring bikes for the duration and using them during the day and walking into town at night- clutching each other because of all the bats!
The accommodation was fairly basic, but nice, and fairly homely, not too hot. The pool was lovely and well kept with plenty of space to spread out and sunbathe- especially as there were not many other people around at that time
The tour rep described the owner as a 'jolly green giant' and told us we could call on them day or night if we had a problem- so when we lost our key and returned at 2am we tried to knock on the main house door, only to get no answer, then nearly got mauled by the dogs when we tried to go to the side entrance. We slept on the porch that night!
On another occasion we broke our front door (oops), and the jolly green giant barely said a word, just told us we better stay in as the apartment could now not be locked. Then the next day we were awoken to find he and the locksmith taking the door off his hinges, fixing it, and replacing it, without even a word!
I think this place would be good for families and older couples, but for us, 2 19 yr olds, it wasn't very conveniently located, and the owners were very suspicious of us (rightly so I guess!!)
