Noisy at night
5 / 10
May 2011, Mr I Poland

We have just returned from a week at the Denise Apartments in Psilidi, Kos. The accommodation was the usual basic Greek accommodation but spotlessly clean. We were in rooms 24 & 27 near the bar and found the noise levels at night meant we had no sleep until after 2am. Psilidi is not Kos Town and we certainly could not walk it but the bus service was excellent and cost 1 Euro 20 cents. As beach lovers we found the beaches poor in this part of Kos as we stayed in Tingaki last September, where the beaches were excellent but we did find a reasonable beach near Kos town, get off the bus at stop 5 and walk back to the Limeni bar/taverna and they had lovely new sunbeds and good food and friendly staff. Kos Town has something for everyone.

Me & my boyfriend visited the Denise Apartments in June 2010. We found the apartments to be comfortable, clean and situated in lovely gardens. Granted it was not as close to Kos Town as we had been lead to believe. It is in Psalidi, with the apartments 5-10 min walk to nearest taverna & shop etc in Psalidi. Kos Town itself is around 30 min walk, 5 min taxi (costing 7euro each way)or bus is 1 euro each way (bus stop less than 5 mins from apartment.) Nikos & his family/ staff were all really helpful, will call taxis and advise of bus stops/shops etc and have a laugh with you making you very welcome. The pool was excellent- very clean, and lovely atmosphere around the pool, everyone so friendly with many guests regularly visiting the Denise & you can see why- it is great. The food at the pool bar was fantastic & reasonably priced. Plenty to choose from for lunch time snacks. The beach is about 10 min walk and is pebble/shingle so not that great, although tavernas on sea front are idyllic serving fantastic traditional greek food. We had a fantastic week here, and would recommend to anyone looking for a laid back time in the sun. Thank you all at the Denise for a fantastic week!!

Just got back from the Denise Apartments after a very enjoyable two weeks in the sun. The welcome we received from Maria, Nikos and the rest of the team at the accommodation was as though we had been there every year (this was our first visit). We were treated like members of the family and not as just another pain-in-the-arse holiday maker. The apartments are extremely clean and well equipped and are of a high standard of maintainance. The family have a little Shih tzu dog called Ziggy he is a fabulous little thing, really friendly and funny.
The flights were suppled by Monarch Airlines from Manchester Airport using an Airbus A330-200, very clean and comfortable. The outbound flight (MON1288) was delayed by about 20 minutes because of a couple of irresponsible pillocks who culd not decide whether or not to actually board the aircraft. The inbound flight (MON1289) was actually early taking off (20 minutes)and landing at Manchester.
The bus service from the end of the lane into Kos Town is remarkably frequent, punctual and cheap (€1 each when bought on the bus but if you buy the tickets at the kiosk prior to your journey it is only €0.90 each)
If you do want to do any of the trips book them yourself and NOT through the Olympic Holidays representatives - you can save at least 50%.
Generally I would recommend this holiday complex to anybody as we enjoyed it so much.

Heyyyy,
We went to Kos in August 2009 and stayed at the Denise App. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed like family. Maria (the owner) is really friendly - but does have a whacky side haha...Nikos (the manager) is a mad head,,,,totally mental lol. Maria has a cuteee lil dog called ziggy who we played fetch with n chased - was mint! :)
The apartments were very basic so you would need to take adapters and things. The apartments are cleaned daily so its always sparkling clean, towels changed daily and bedding twice a week. Gorgeous views from balcony which we sat looking at every night after a drink at the pool bar.
The apartment grounds have lots of greenery and different trees and plants also a little herb gardern. The gardener comes everyday to see to the plants but he makes it look amazingggggg... The pool area has lots of sunbeds, enough for everyone. The pool is very clean and is big, there is a childrens pool for little kids. On the main pool there is an area at the top where we jumped into the pool,,,funny times.
Close to the pool there is the pool bar that serves all kinds of drinks and different selections of local Greek food,,,Bacon sandwich is AMAZING,,u gotta have one if you go haha. On different nights the bar has events going on such as: quiz, karioke, Greek night...
We went to the Greek night and the quiz,,at the quiz there was questions such as music questions...and...best bit being....we WON the quiz WOOOOOOO!!!!! We got a free cocktail which was gorgeous xD At the Greek night we had a meal which included Greek Salad, Tzatziki, Sausage, chicken and pork chop,,,lovely,,,Nikos' bbq skills aren't bad after all lmao. After the meal we had lots of Greek dancing where Nikos and family got us in a circle n taught us some Greek dancing,,Zorbas dance...
Every night at the bar they give free shots of ouzo, peach snaps...so we have a small toast xD
Only bad thing about the bar at night...if your aparment is really close to it you cant get to sleep because of the loud music.
Just in case football or other sporting activities are on the TV they have a wide screen TV where we watch England vs Netherlands which was very funny as the apartments are for the English and Dutch so there was betting going on haha but in the end it was 2-2 lol.
If you dont want to stay out in the sun or you get bored at night there is a little pool room where us kids used to hang out and play some pool.
Denise App. could help you find love as well,,,my big bro,,Ben,,met his girlfriend,,Becky,,there awwww! haha
Now then, The travel rep said it would be a SMALL walk to Kos Town,,,LIEEEE!!!!,,,it took us 45 mins!!!!! haha,,,I suggest the bus that only cost 1 euro,, buses run every 10 mins from the bus stop down the street.
In kos town it is split up, half of it is more modern and the other half is the old town,,,we only went into the old town because we like traditional Greek food. Lots of shops where you can buy clothes and things,,also a duty free shop to get alcohol and cigarettes...
The beaches near the Denise App. are very rocky so you have to go to the other side of kos town for the best beaches.

Olympic holidays organised a lot of trips,,we went to Turkey for the day,,which was boiling haha and if you go DON'T pay the bill in cafe in the English pound because we nearly got ripped off by the owners :O We also went on the party night which was a lot of fun,,where the olympic reps near entertained us with a boys v girls contest..and...the GIRLS won WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! haha
Anyway, Just like to thank Maria, Nikos and family for making out holiday the BEST yet haha will be back next year maybeeee....
Charl, Tracey, Ben, Anne and Tom x

Hello,, we stopped in the Denise Apartments on the morning starting 12th August 2009, when we had gotten off the plane at Kos Airport we was greeted by many of the Olympic Reps who was helping us along our way to the Denise Apts, when we had reached our Destination we had a problem,, we didnt have a room because some people decided to swap rooms the night before, but when we was looking for another room our rep was helping us an awful lot and she had managed to find us a room ( Thankyou ) lol, but the hotel is great there is an open bar next to the pool, a pool table, many sunbeds with umbrellas and a childs pool, they do put on entertainment like Bingo, Kareoke and they even bring you round free Ouzo shots and Vodka + Red Bull but i didnt have any because i am to young, if you want to go on trips its very simple to do so you ask your rep and they will do the rest for you. if you want a walk into Kos it takes aprox 35-40 in a slow pace, in Kos there are Bars and Restaurants and these are great for the family, we had only stayed a week but it was great, the hotel when we went consisted of English and Dutch people but you can get over the language barrier easily because the majority of people can speak English there, on site there is a dog called Ziggy he is very adorable and has a mind of his own but he is cute, the rooms do have basic equipment so make sure you take travel adapters and toasters. but i will wrap this all up now by saying this was a great holiday and would be good for you aswel hopefully,, thankyou to our rep who had helped us get the room we needed,, xx

  • Advice: great for the family and for a nice kozy meal and a great characiture ,,
  • Activities: the bar at the hotel was great and simple to get to hehe,

Well, here's the thing-After spending an disappointing week in Barcelona last year, we wanted our holiday to meet the following criteria: Residents who actually appeared to like us and did not treat us like Euro dispensing machines, and availability of a place where we could totally relax without feeling guilty. In Kos both of these objectives were met, astonishingly, without us even having to move from the Denise apartments. Our hosts (Maria, Nikos et al) were fabulously warm, and the apartments themselves boast both a pool and a bar. Lucky us. We spent our days (mostly) by the pool, guiltlessly... Our evenings were spent at the bar where Nikos provided the entertainment-Bingo,quiz, general madness, which you are welcome to join in with or not, depending on how you're feeling. Regardless, Nikos and co make you feel at home with complimentary ouzos etc. It all seems effortless but it's not-I know 'cos I watched how hard they were working while I was sat by the pool! Incidentally, Kos is a wonderful place too, eat out of town though as the food is both better and cheaper. In fact it works out more cost effective than cooking ourselves. We enjoyed Tasos to the right of the Denise and Nikita's near Lambi beach. Hire a bike and check them out. Oh and finally the accommodation itself: It's cleaned every day; we had beds and a shower, a hob and a kettle. What more would ye want? We slept in ours and spent the rest of our time out of doors. The whole thing was quite splendidly organised by Olympic, and so, we are definitely going back next year. If you get there before us, mine's a Vap lager!

I have just come back from a week at the Denise Apartments and can honestly say you are welcomed like family. If you like to keep yourself to yourself this is not the place for you, only because everyone is so friendly - not because you are not left alone. OK, the apartment was a little small for four of us, but we only slept there. Chilled out days where you could loll around the pool (beautifully maintained), or you could hire two loungers and umbrella for 5€ at the man-made sandy beach next to the Nestoras Taverna, which is the totally BEST place to eat for authentic Greek food. If you just wanted to swim in the sea, which I did daily, you could just grab a towel and walk to the end of the lane, cross the road, bear right and there was a perfect place for a swim - remember to wear something on your feet though, as there are sea urchins a plenty.
The bar/snack area is handy for quick snacks (greek pizza is yummy) and in the evenings it is full of noise and laughter, but I slept like a log due to the wine!
Our cleaner, Nur, was fantastic - she even cleaned around the comatose body of our teenager, and our room was cleaned every day except one. As if that wasn't enough, I was waiting at the bus stop to go into Kos Town (tickets 1€ on the bus, but 90cents if you buy from the booth at the drop off point), when I was offered a lift by Louis who was going home for a siesta.
To top it all, what seemed like the whole taverna came out to wave goodbye when we left (or maybe they just wanted to make sure we left after my brother's Greek dancing and guitar playing evening)
Highly recommended.

Just returned from one of the best holidays ever. Nikos and family are superb hosts and always ready to help. Views are to die for. Very clean and the maid service was of a high standard. Pool area was ideal for sun bathers and and people wanting shade. Pool was cleaned everynight without fail. Entertainment was good except from Nikos singing, but it got better after a few drinks. Will be returning next year come hell or high water.

We had such a fantastic time on our holiday in May we have now booked for September. We would highly recommend The Denise Apartments to anyone. The atmosphere was great and we met a lot of nice people. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK. Maria and the family were so helpful and the pool was lovely and clean and clear, but cold, certainly woke you up after the night before. Kos its self is beautiful and full of character.
