We love the location of the Maflower complex, but out of the three blocks 1, 2 and -peros, choose 1 or 2 not The Peros.
Our 3rd trip to the Mayflower complex.
Peros is too near the Bar and Pool so you can't avoid the Dawn to Dusk TV belting out BBC world News, The early our drop of and pick up of people arriving and leaving Kefalos.
You may also have to endure The rep using a megaphone on Quiz night, which is wierd when all questions and answers can be heard from the Apartments when it is not used.
Mayflower Peros is too near the Bar run by a Lively but friendly family,
The Bar desperately needs a screen to seal in the sound of the Television and other activities from those just wishing some peace and quite late at night.
Wall socket in Kitchen loose and a faulty door lock to 3 days to have sorted.
Don't be put off though, a good location and not overbad accomadation.
Just choose Mayflower one or 2 out of preferance.

Just back from an excellent 2 week stay in Kefalos. The Peros appartments are clean, quiet and very comfortable, if a little basic (hey I was only sleeping/showering there!) Swimming pool is beautiful, spotlessly clean and lots of beds/umbrellas. Pool food is excellent value for money - club sandwich is enough for 2 to share for lunch making it quite cheap. As with most greek family hotels the family work all the hours available, I'm not sure when they actually sleep, but Dimitri and his family were always friendly and cheerful. Rooms are cleaned regularly and towels/linen changed every other day.
Kefalos is lovely, loads of places to eat - we didn't need to eat in the same restaurant twice and still had others we didn't get to try, and didn't have one bad meal anywhere. Acropol and Bravo bars great for cocktails and drinks after.
Village of Zia is stunning - well worth a look. Kos old town is really pretty and you can get a bus from Kefalos, but watch out as they only run a few times each day, latest back is 9pm and is packed! Paradise beach is lovely - glass bottom boat was good to see the bubbles at bubble beach. If you go to paradise beach it is well worth walking up the steps to the restaurant at the top for lunch - food very nice and reasonably priced - nicer than the 'cafeteria' at the lower level. Waterpark was good, but a bit pricey - good food there too though.
We did some tours with Trust tours - good for car hire, but excursions left a bit to be desired - felt like they were jumping on the bandwagon a bit. E.g. turkey trip was basically a lift to Kos town in a minibus (with 2 more people in it than seats) we were dropped a 10 minute walk from the ferry and still had to pick up our own tickets, then left to get on with it. Probably not worth the 10 euro saving on the Rep's trip which was door to door and included tour of Bodrum.
Kefalos is a must if you like quiet relaxed places and Peros Mayflower is a great place to stay. Will definitely be going back to them at some point!

In 2003 I was put off of going to the Greek Islands by an awful holiday in Corfu...but my faith has been restored!
Just returned from what I can only describe as one of the best holidays I have had in years! Never felt so relaxed and coming back feeling like I have actually been on holiday. I visited with my 14 yr old daughter, who enjoyed it just as much.
The Mayflower II was clean, the complex staff friendly and always helpful and the pool area always had plenty of sunbeds and shade (definately needed in the months of July and August!). If you are more into the beach, that is but a few minutes walk away, which is clean and never really crowded. The beach is a mixture of sand, shingle (in all sizes) and rocks, but if you walk a little further out of the bay, it becomes a lot sandier. Food was plentiful and caters for all tastes and the best part is you can actually stop to study a menu outside with out being badgered to eat there. (would recommend Captain Johns and Sebastian’s - both amazing and very reasonable). If you are going with a tour operator, I would also recommend the Greek Night, held in a small village high in the mountains, even for the sunset alone! However I must admit, it was a great night. Also take the time to visit Paradise Beach and Bubble Beach, great places if you have small children, they can wade out for miles!
In my opinion Kefalos is one of the unspoilt Greek villages, one where you can relax. If you're looking for a 'Bar Street' you wont find it here - try Kardamena a lot livelier.
I will definately be returning to this place!

What can I say? This is the best place in the world!
I went in summer 05, winter 05 and winter 06 staying in an apartment by myself, but previously with a friend and her son and parents and I desperately want to go back again!
The apartments are basic but clean and lovely, the family who own them are just the nicest people, so welcoming and friendly and nothing is ever a problem!
The sister of Demitri who owns the apartments owns a restaurant a few minutes’ walk away from the apartments called Captain John and the food is just out of this world - that coming from a fussy eater!
The apartments are handy for everything - fantastic and low priced supermarket right next door, there's always plenty room to swim and sunbathe beside the pool, even in the height of the season.
The resort is not exactly a party paradise as the nightlife is pretty quiet - infact I think there is only one nightclub in the whole of Kefalos, so probably not the type of place for groups, but it's ideal when you want a lazy holiday with time to relax and enjoy lovely scenery and food - I want to go now!

I've been coming to Kefalos since 1994 and to these apartments since 1999,
I imagine that just about says it all!
These apartments are owned by one family, and when staying there I have been treated as well as if I were a member of that family.
For me the location is perfect, a few minutes walk from the beach and all shops, but wonderfully quiet with fantastic views.
The pool and snack bar (not even built when I first started staying!) are excellent, and Dimitri's breakfast is the best there is.
I can't recommend these apartments highly enough.

Lovely apartments, even if they are a little basic. Very clean - though the cleaners had a habit of coming round to early for me and waking me up!
Cooking equipment is very basic but I certainly didnt go to cook every day!
Swimming pool is lovely with plenty of sunbeds and umberellas to go round even in mid july. The usual rule that you can only eat and drink what you buy at the bar round the pool applies, but the food is nice and not too expensive.
The beach and bars/tavernas are just a couple of minutes walk away, done a quiet but safe road. When you get to the end of this road you reach a busier road where you can either turn left or go straight across and turn right at the roundabout to reach the bars etc.
Again, the beach is just a couple of minutes walk away. Straight down the quiet road, straight across the busier road to the roundabout and you are practically on the beach. The main beach is shingle and sand, but boat trips leave to paradise beach and bubble beach in the morning from here.
An ideal resort for couples and familes looking for a quieter holiday. Wouldn't really suggest this for groups of young singles as the nightlife is lowkey and laid back. There's little to do in Kefalos during the day except sunbathing so would recommened a car or other form of transport to visit the rest of the island.

Just returned from a week at Mayflower Peros in Kefalos (stayed in Mayflower II in a spacious, clean room. Loved the place and would definitely go again. Kefalos (Kamari) is fairly quiet with lots of tavernas which suited us. The apartments are family run and really clean and well maintained - the pool is great and the sunbeds were always available even though the complex was full and it was half term week.
We hired a car from Manolis Car Hire on the main road at 20 euros a day which was half the price of the 'recommended' firm by Olympic. Our rep (Suzanne) was lovely; she ran a Quiz Night on Sunday with delicious food (incl. wine) which was great value at 10 euros.
Some good tavernas in Kamari were 'Santa Barbara' and 'Captain John's'. A local excursions firm on the road to the harbour is 'Asklepios Tours'; good prices and Mia in the office was incredibly helpful. Zia (in the mountains) is worth a visit to have a meal and watch a fabulous sunset over Kalymnos.
