I can agree with the other comments...

Aug 2006, Miss R C Holt

I can agree with the other comments about the Olympic rep, ours didn’t turn up for our welcome meeting which was rearranged twice. When asked for info on trips she had none available but promised to post one under our door.
Needless to say it did not arrive and so all trips were all booked with local agents which were excellent.
We heard of so many people who were not picked up for trips booked with the Rep or the coaches were over booked with no room. This spoilt some families’ holidays who were only there for the week and for who time is precious.
The hotel itself is basic and our only complaints were the breakfast, lack of fridge in the room and paying for fans for the room.
The breakfast is very poor with 2 rolls with jam cheese and ham all of which were obviously cheap. We either went to a nearby by shop and bought our own SOFT rolls and cheese or ate out.
The rooms are very hot in the evening (but what do you expect for Aug in Greece) and 3 euros a night for fans is very expensive for 14 nights. Some people did however buy fans and sneak them in to the rooms.
The family were lovely and most helpful Enen lending us the iron one evening. We learnt more from the owners than from the Rep! Our rooms were cleaned spotlessly every day except Sunday with clean towels every other day and bedding every 3 days
The pool is fantastic a real sun trap with plenty of sun beds and parasols. A much needed cool down for the heat wave we experienced (45 degrees one day). The pool was clean and well kept.
Overall this is a basic hotel which just needs updating but I would recommend it and will return. It is ideal as it out of the busy bar street area but it is only a 5 min walk to this and the beach.

Firstly I wouldn’t recommend going...

Aug 2006, Mr J C Barr

Firstly I wouldn’t recommend going to Kos all together. The Greeks clearly don't like the English, even though we are their main source of revenue.
I was told Kos is one of the places to be, it's wicked out there, you gotta go, can I ask why? Two clubs, bar street as long my home street where the music shuts of at 12, and PR's that annoy the living hell out of you! If you've been to Magaluf, Ayia Napa, or any of the biggies before, Kos really isn't worth it. All right for a first holiday, or maybe with your GF but there is not enough going on and too many restrictions.
But if you do go, you can have a good holiday, mine wasn’t bad I just expected a lot more, do not, and I re-iterate, do not stay at the Mikargy. They are so rude, unhelpful and biggest con-artists I’ve known. Our towels were changed twice, three times max in the 10days we were there, if you wanted a new one 10euros. I've never heard of that before its normally, no problem the maid will bring you one.
Breakfast, not that I ever got up for it, was a solidified, wouldn’t call it roll, with ham and cheese. Go to Alexander / Blue Notes or Scala for your breakie. lovely, especially Alexander if you want a special fruit salad!
You’re not allowed to bring drinks in from outside the pool or food, which I thought was fair enough when reading bout before I went, but when you discover they sell mini bottles for 1euro and you can get a 2ltr at supermarket for 50cents its quite gutting. Plus the food is terrible.
Moving on, showers are cold, the rooms are roasting and fans are 3euros a night, my mate brought a fan with him and they confiscated it. Their fans also make some annoying rattling noise so you don’t want it on when you’re going to bed.
We never bothered booking things with Olympic as we heard the stories, but we found out from peeps round the pool how they had not been booked on things etc, so sort your days out etc round the town as its cheaper and guaranteed you'll be booked on.
Anyways, I’m going to leave it at that, otherwise it will seem like the holiday from hell, quad biking is the nuts, very reasonable pricing and you can go up the mountains and all over the island. Starlight club is good when it has a theme on, foam party is mental! But overall, I wasn’t too impressed, as I say would be good if hadn’t done any of the biggies before, but I’ve been and done better, and for £465 to stay in this hole, I felt robbed!

I have just got home from the best...

Jul 2006, Miss Mel Wynston

I have just got home from the best holiday I have been on in my life I strongly recommend staying in Kardamena but be warned, the hotels are really basic, my only 2 complaints about the Mikargy were that there was no fridge so there was no chance of having a cool drink of water to ease that hellish hangover I suffered from nearly every morning whilst being over there, and my second was the owners.
The resort is wicked I miss it like mad and I can’t wait to get go back, honestly it was the best holiday ever.
I agree with Mr. Williams as well, the reps are rubbish they aren’t helpful and we wasn’t booked on any of the trips we paid for so we were pushed to the back of queue, our rep was completely wasted all the time
But if you are staying here then be assured that is one of the best hotels there especially with Olympic as some of there hotel look awful. Have a wicked time.
Yamas!

If you're looking at this before...

Jul 2006, Mr A Williamson

If you're looking at this before going then, don't worry like we did due to other reviews. The rooms (although a bit basic) are fine, sheets and towels are changed regularly and bins daily. Those working at the Mikargy are friendly and helpful.
The area of the hotel is perfect close enough to the beach, shops, bars and restaurants but not too close to the clubs that you're woken by noise off the street.
However, if booking this holiday with Olympic then I must stress not to book any excursions through the reps, especially Nick who was friendly when it came to getting you signed up but when a problem arose (which was not a rare occurrence) he was rude and unhelpful.
At the square you can find stalls and shops where you can book these excursions at a better price, they're also more organised. We booked four through the rep, two of which we had to phone the Olympic office as the bus didn't pick us up as we "weren't on the list" and one was cancelled without us being told, again we had to phone to learn this!
So in conclusion the hotel and resort are great, the Olympic team are not.

Overall our holiday was good. The hotel we stayed at was clean enough and pool was nice and was only a minuet down the road from the beautiful beach and bar street, but
the hotels facilities needed updating urgently.
Also breakfast was a "wide variety" of bread and jam every morning! The owner wasn’t very helpful towards the holidaymakers and if you were 2 minutes late for breakfast she wouldn’t allow you to have it.
Personally I would not recommend this "bed and breakfast" and I would not go back.

Although I enjoyed my holiday...

May 2005, Angela Marie

Although I enjoyed my holiday immensely and the owners(argy and Thanos were lovely I feel a complete update is needed of the hotel.
The beds are extremely old and have the oldest dark green woolly blankets on them, which were very rough and not very clean. To sleep on them was very hard and I woke with a large number of bites on my entire body through bed bugs.
But in saying this I add that on complaining about this the management came immediately to spray my entire room with insecticide.
All rooms had a telephone and radio system in them but neither were working.
We were told when asking about this that we only paid for bed and breakfast and not for the telephones and radio’s.
these comments sound extremely harsh but are honest.
again I must stress that I had a wonderful holiday and the situation of the hotel was only two minutes away from all local amenities and the beach.
there are plenty of bars shops and restraunts and for two euros there is a bus that takes you into Kos town where you will find more of the same. I recommend that anyone wanting to go on any excursions that they book through the small travel agencies that you can find all along the harbour. This is 100% cheaper than booking with your rep.
prices of food in local cafes vary so don’t settle for the first one that you see walk along the harbour for the best deals.
I ENJOYED THIS HOLIDAY MORE THAN ANY OTHER THAT I HAVE BEEN ON IN MANY YEARS AND I WILL GO BACK IN A FLASH SHOULD I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY.

We stayed for a week in this hotel....
9 / 10
May 2004, Miss C Tetsill

We stayed for a week in this hotel. The breakfast was continental but very fresh and the bar prices were very reasonable. The pool is a suntrap but their are loungers and parasols provided and plenty of them to cater for all guests. The poolside snack bar is very cheap and everything is made fresh on request.
The rooms are basic but well thought out, the bathroom is the only part what let the hotel down a little. It was clean and efficient but the shower had only a small area and was a little sparse. The staff are friendly and we ended up on first name terms with Argy the lady who owns the hotel, it isn’t a chain so they are so helpful with any request.
The lounge area is only small but comfy and clean and the grounds are always pleasant and blooming with plants and flowers, the hotel is a 2 minute walk from the centre, which is nice because you do not hear the hustle and bustle on an evening. It is situated on a main road but it is not noisy and generally only a few scooters pass on an evening.
The balcony is a nice size and their are blackout curtains hung on the French doors which are great for siesta time. Definitely worth a visit, with it been a family run hotel it’s a joy to stay at!!!!
